There's SO many truly great performances that have been ignored over the years. You could go on and on. Bjork was just one of the victims.
I def agree about Bjork.
There have been so many.

Gwyneth should be snubbed more often.
I agree, Chita.
How about Peter O'Toole in The Lion In Winter?
Wow yeah one nomination and win in 1999 for Shakespeare In Love and that's IT. Man they should just back off of Gwyneth.

Hillary Swank's beaing Annette Bening is wrong?
I'm sorry, but did you see BOYS DON'T CRY? Swank blew everyone else out of the water - there is no question that she should have won.

NYC4Life I agree on everything except Whoopi. Even if Ms Page had lost, the Oscar would have gone to Anne Bancroft or Jessica Lange or Ms Streep! No, No, poor Whoopi was out of her league that year.

The only one that ever really bothered me - and it's only because I adore him so much - is Ian Mckellen not winning for GODS AND MONSTERS.
Gwyneth. One nomination. One win. So I ask, HOW can she be snubbed more often?
Last year was a tough category.
I would have voted for both Imelda Staunton and Kate Winslet over Swank, but Swank over Bening.
Yes, to me. Imelda's VERA DRAKE was the Heath Ledger performance of last year. Too understated and insuficiently showy to be a winner, but harrowing and remarkable in every detail.
Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribean.
Yeah, I said it.
"I would have voted for both Imelda Staunton and Kate Winslet over Swank, but Swank over Bening."
I think Annette was by far the best last year, Swank played a girl everyone wants to root for. Bening played a layered character that was not as easy to root for and was beyond everyone nominated but Staunton who was just as good.
As for Whoopi, i was so blown away by her and thought paige was just getting the award because of who she was. Streep was not going to get it because they are waiting for her to top her Sophies Choice. Clearly I am not alone since Goldberg won the globe and the National Board of Review. It is all opinions.

You can snub Gwyneth by just not nominating her. It was sarcasm!

Are you kidding me? Page's performance in Bountiful is considered one of the greatest on film. She didn't win it just for who she is. And this is coming from a huge fan of Whoopi and The Color Purple.
Richard Burton in Beckett I believe was snubbed when the Oscar went to John Wayne in True Grit
To think Richard Burton never won an osacr is mind boggling. Add Hitchcock to the list of Oscar snubee's

NYC4Life , you didn't mention Lange's Sweet Dreams or Bancroft's Agnes of God
Well I love The Color Purple and I thought Whoopi was more than adequate but I don't think her performance surpassed that of Paige's in A Trip To Bountiful.

It took me a while to really appreciate Swank's work in M$B. I amnow in love with her performance. I would have voted for her, with Winslet a very close second. Bening would be next, then Staunton. I don't think that Moreno, while good, should have been nominated.
