"Republican House Trans" sounds like "Dobby the House Elf"
The Log Cabin Republicans need a house mother. They have one now!
I don't think it's likely any one of the current Republican candidates would go anywhere near Caitlyn. The response to the Vanity Fair cover in conservative blogland was poisonous, to say the least.
But she supports them and supports legislation to limit MY civil rights so I have every right to roll my eyes at her and not praise the great reality TV star, Caitlyn Jenner.
I can only hope that now she has made the change, the scales will fall from her eyes and she will see. Perhaps living as a woman, a trans woman, she will evolve politically.
The horrific reactions on Fox cannot have escaped her attention: She is not blind or or naive when it comes to how the media works.
I don't think she will find much support at all from the right side of center.
If she doesn't evolve, she will be even more confused than she was when she was younger and felt like a filly even while she looked like a stud.
I find it very hard to believe that she never noticed how cruel her chosen political party is to people like her. In fact, I don't believe it at all. But what are her motivations for politically evolving? She's an incredibly rich reality TV star. She's not going to face discrimination in the work place like others do. She's not going to be fired from her job for being trans - Hell she's making millions off of it already. And she'll want to keep as much of that money as possible so she'd better damn well keep voting for tax cuts for the wealthiest people and her fellow 1%ers and forget about everything else that goes along with that vote - just like she's always done.

Until now, she has only been, at least on the surface, a rich, famous, straight, white guy. She has never had to face the public ridicule or discrimination that those who went before her have. I think it's easy to be conservative when you aren't part of the, "other." We'll see if things chance as she tries to become the fierce advocate she promised in the interview.
I was really just asking about her politics for arguments sake. The whole Kardashian crew makes me ill. I do, however, respect what Caitlyn has done. I don't have to like the person to respect her or him for doing something I consider pretty brave.
Right. I'm allowed to truly dislike a member of a group of people while still having respect for that group, as a whole. But that seems to be lost on most people who are falling all over themselves the past two days to praise the gorgeous conservative trans Caitlyn on her world tour to make sure ratings for her new show are sky high.
She'd better issue one HELL of a good public statement and apologize for ever casting one vote against my equal rights before I'll show her one ounce of the respect that people seem to think she deserves.

I have had to work to find a way not to be furious when it dawns on certain people that they have had the wrong priorities all along, or that the Iraq war was a mistake, or what have you. I would like my gold star for long knowing that Bruce Jenner's friends and allies were bad for Caitlyn.
Amanda Munoz on the conservative website HotAir attempts to lay claim to Caitlyn for the GOP, but one look at the comments will show you how successful that was:

This is going to play out really interestingly, if Caitlyn believes any part of this, including her own E Series, is politically neutral.

They'd probably like that Fruity Pebbles picture!

Even the phrase "Fruity Pebbles picture' makes me laugh. I guess I long ago reclaimed "fruity" for myself.
I was going to post the new Wheaties box I saw today but I guess I won't now.

What's stopping you? Only me and one other person registered any discomfort with the other one.

If Jenner is not gay and not attracted to men will she be dating women? And if so, what do you think her sexual orientation will be defined as?
She seems to be open to dating men, at least judging by Bruce's remarks in the opening minutes of the About Bruce special. I think I'm probably the first person in the thread to admit to actually watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians ( I somehow got hooked...no judging), so I guess none of y'all have seen it - the two-part special was better than the Diane Sawyer interview, at least I think so.
Just saw this posted on FB and it made me chuckle:

Even though it's the Post, I agree with EVERY SINGLE WORD of that.
I hadn't really been tracking Bruce's transition to Caitlyn so I'm just now noticing that she bears an uncanny resemblance to Janice Dickinson. Perhaps his political bent was part of the former packaging.

Maybe?
I agree with calling out what appear to be the entirely bass-ackwards priorities of the coverage and the whole management of the transition into an income stream by a person who is nothing but a media personality.
However, what I can't deny is the visibility this brings to an issue that gets no serious coverage at all in the American mainstream. A MAJOR ATHLETE has put the very notion of gender identity on the front burner of American pop culture. Almost in spite of herself.
This opens the door for all sorts of discussions in all sorts of communities that may never have considered the gender continuum.
A lot of us worked very hard for years on AIDS and HIV in the early '80s and it was impossible to get large numbers of people interested in talking about it. And then came Rock Hudson and later than that Magic Johnson. Sure, there was resentment among a lot of us that nobody gave a crap before there was a celebrity angle, but that angle was the camel's nose under the tent.
This is happening with Caitlyn.

So the potential intentions behind the (highly exploited) transition are not worth examining?
Jenner will be remembered for progressing trans awareness in the same way that Ellen did for gay rights.
