Ok..so we know the wrong person won American Idol (and no..I don't mean wanna-be rocker Chris). In my analysis, I predicted a future for this "wedding singer" to be as bright as that of Ruben. And if you saw his CBS This Morning performance, you'd know what I mean.
And now..my thoughts have been confirmed by Billboard Magazine.

The Soul Patrol crashes and burns

I am from Birmingham alabama. The entire soul patrol thing was a mess. It got on my nerves. I can totally see this happening.
Sorry, but I disagree. Taylor is a muscian that will be around for a very long time. He may not sell as many records as Kelly C. or Carrie (in her future), but I think he has found a pulse in America that AI didn't see before. My hope is that he stands firm when recording his album, and doesn't let the production company "popify" his sound like Bo did on his first album.
I like him so much better than Ruben, who IMO only won because he was the "judges favorite."

Fabrizio2- you live in Alabama? Then how do you get to NY so much?
I've seen him on a couple of the morning shows this week and I have to tell ya, he's a natural. Not only did he sing that silly song that was written for him well (bet he can't wait ‘til he doesn't have to sing THAT song anymore) he was smooth as butter when it came to kibitzing with the hosts. He's a real showman with a great personality! Something Reuben never was. Taylor appears as if he's been doing this for years. So, I couldn’t agree less with the author of that article. Like it or not, Taylor is going to be around for a long time to come. The general public loves him. And when he finally gets to sing the kind of music that he loves and is best at, he'll soar!

I envision the Taylor Hicks Theatre in Branson, Mo.
Very funny, Jon. The day he adds "Walking in Memphis" to his song list will be the day I get on a plane and fly to Branson. Ya'll save me a seat!
This guy is so destined for the "What Ever Happened To..." question that always pops up here.

Hey! Hey! Hey. Back off man. The AMERICAN IDOL single always sucks. We all should know that by now. If you have watched American Idol then you'd know somethings hit and some dont- Ruben failed because he tried too hard to infuse the R and B sound into American Idol, but it didnt work. Carrie and Kelly took their own routes. Thats what Taylor's mostly likely going to do. I'm gonna buy his music. I loved Taylor. I'm a proud member of the SOUL PATROL. You gotta wait for his first non- American Idol single to judge him.
So I guess we haven't see Taylor (try) to sing anything else but this debut song? What do you call the WHOLE SEASON?
The man is the ultimate cheese. Katherine, a real vocalist, should have won. But America loves a traffic accident.
His 15 minutes of fame will be up in..15..14...13...12
I think if he sticks to his guns, and doesn't let American Idol management ruin his originality, he will be fine. But he needs to stick to the Joe Cocker stuff, not try to sing some crappy pop music that they write for him.
I never thought he was the cats pajamas
I liked Paris
If the world were not bad enough with the other Idols were subjected to, now Mr. Cheese Puff comes along.
I'll wait till his CD is on sale at 7-11.
At least he brought back purple, velvet jackets
I love Taylor and I will be buying his music, and I dont think the wrong person won idol.

He is going to do great. And the man CAN sing - it wasn't all about the visual with him.
I think he has a wonderful voice, I have watched videos of him over and over

I like Taylor quite a bit. McPhee ruined "Over the Rainbow" in my opinion.
Katherine was the only one on that show that had talent. Hicks is a one trick pony. In a year, he and Justin will be on tour at the best amusement parks.

Katharine McPhee is an L.A. rich kid snot. She has not made a good rep for herself in the post-finale interviews.
Wow..it must be great to have selective memory Robyn. Have you seen every interview? Including the self love fest Taylor gave to himself on Larry King.
If there's ANYONE who has handled themselves with grace and poise, it has been Katherine. Not only is this women a talented and trained singer (who actually sings the pitches that were written as opposed to the Hicks "slide around till you find the note" method"), but on Larry King, she was the most gracious by allowing the boring boob named Taylor continue his "wow mama..look ats me..I'm great..WOOOHOO". Taylor's response to the question (as noted above) when he was chosen by Simon to win was absolutely the biggest selfish, arrogant thing I've seen on TV in quite some time.
But this happens when dim bulbs like Taylor start believing all the acclaim and screams from 78 yr old housewives. Taylor took the safe route the entire show and did no material even close to being challenging. Katherine, on the other hand, showed a wide range of her abilities.
Taylor is indeed a one trick pony. But he chose to demonstrate that thru the entire program. And now were expecting to see some amazing musical revelation that he didn't display? Oh..that's a good one.
Make room for his one and only album in the discount bin real soon.
