Did the judge give you any idea of how long this trial is expected to go? I've had jury duty 4 times - one on Federal court and 3 times on Fairfax County circuit court. I've been 'lucky' enough to be chosen all 4 times. When you approach it with the proper degree of seriousness, it can completely wear you out. Federal court duty lasted 6 weeks and I had to take a few days vacation when it was over just to recover!
oh, I expect it to end this week. Hopefully earlier in the week, but that remains to be seen.
The process has been interesting and frustrating.
6 weeks? wow. That's a serious time commitment! I was called for Grand Jury once, but given the nature of my work it was impossible for me to make the commitment (NY requires a half day every day for a month), so they switched it to regular jury duty. Every time I've been called it's been for NY State Supreme Court - criminal division.
I'm trying to make the most of it, though.

Addy, I hope that all is well! I will be thinking of you!!!
I don't want you to talk about the trial AT ALL - but ..... don't you wish Perry Mason or Matlock were there? My greatest frustration came from the attorneys. We (the members of the jury) were always DYING to ask our own questions! LOL

Mamie, the process can be frustrating, but the rules of evidence protect the integrity of the system.
Spoken like a true member of the profession!
More than one criminal that was guilty has gotten off because evidence was not handled properly, or the chain of custody compromised.
That whole "everyone is entitled to a defense" thing sometimes really gets in the way of getting things done! (and I am being serious, it is a tedious process, but for the system to work, it needs to be).
Oh - I know. Still - the frustration can kill you!
Hi, everybody! The Queen of Avoidance here!
I was supposed to get my taxes wrapped up today, but instead I spent ALL DAY making the arrangements for my trip to France this summer. It's like an enormous puzzle that you think you've completed and then realize that some of the pieces are missing and others don't fit together. Yeesh!
Somebody REALLY wants that European CC Blak...
Yeah, that's ALL I'm going to do there for a month: drink teeth-rotting, nerve-punctuating, stomach-decaying carbonated beverages.
The Stephen Schwartz thing tonight was excellent. They ran over reminiscing about his career, so they didn't end up talking that much about Pippin. Apparently there's some surprise ending that they didn't want to spill the beans about.
It was cool, though, as they talked about his career and differnt people sang a song of each of his shows. The highlights were SS playing the piano and singing "Corner of the Sky" and "For Good", and him playing and Kim Huber singing "Meadowlark." A very fun evening indeed.
Good morning y'all! Come on in and set a spell and have some coffee and a slice of sweet potato pie.
Morning gang. *grabs coffee and a piece of pie*
Did someone say pie?
Good morning!

Mamie - funny you should mention that evening. Wickedrentq was sitting next to me (we didn't know each other then) and kchenowethfan was also there. I always feel like standing up and saying "Anyone from BroadwayWorld here?".
Are you going to the Schwartz thing on May 1?
And where's my pie?

Boy it looks like Addy will on jury duty longer than my malpractice that I was on for a month,
They're putting up barricades by City Hall for the immigration protest this afternoon.
Did I miss the pie?
Wexy, they're doing the same thing in Seattle. Big day for protests today.
I saved a double slice for you sexy!
Thanks handsome!!!
