I really enjoyed it. The cast was great and I thought it was really funny.
One quibble - is there such a thing as a four year community college? I thought one of the things that made community colleges community colleges was that they were only two year schools.

i really enjoyed it! joel mchale is hilarious and i loved the guy playing abed... i loved him in those AT&T butt dialing commercials too! haha...
i don't think there is such a thing as a four year community college... not to my knowledge unless I wasn't paying attention during grad school in class (i got a degree in higher education so I'm supposed to know this stuff!)
btw.... i think i attended some classes at the college they film at! that campus looks REALLY familiar and I know they shoot in LA... hmmm
I didn't see the whole thing because we had friends over for dinner, but the last 15 minutes was funny!
I liked it, and then Joel McHale's character got to be too big a dose of smarmy one-note and cynical. The women are too pretty while the guys are not. They should have cast less actressy looking women. I'm tired of looking at male fantasy casting.

^^ i don't quite understand your comment... so they cast ugly men and too beautiful women???
Such a funny pilot episode. It made me laugh the way THE OFFICE used to.
i missed it... i plan on catching it on hulu tho.
the preveiws were too funny
"i thought you had a batcholers from columbia"
"and now i need one from america!"
edit: phyliss, some community collages, at least the ones around here, can be 2 or 4 year schools. some kids get their associate's degree and then stay for 2 more years to get their batchlor's degree in a seperate program. it's still at the school, but it's a different program.

It's sososososoosso good. Glad to see, (now that Parks and Recreation isn't a steaming pile of crap and 30 Rock is returning next month) that NBC has finally rebuilt its killer four-comedy Must-See-TV Thursday lineup.
Wait, 30 Rock is premiering in October instead of next year??? AWESOME NEWS!

^ It was never going to premiere in May. I have no idea where people got that idea.
Is COMMUNITY an "Office" type of show? I really can't The Office or Parks & Recreation. Whenever they show a commercial with a funny bit I try to watch it but I just CAN'T get through it.
Initially, I heard about 30 Rock's 2010 premiere from Entertainment Tonight.

Where there's some sort of unexplained camera man on them? No, not at all.
No offense to the woman who plays Shirley, because she was my favorite, but I wonder when the last time was that she heard someone call her "too pretty."
And when you said they guys are not, did you mean they are not too pretty or not pretty at all.
Wow. Am I the only one who didn't really like COMMUNITY? I thought it was just so-so. Nothing special. And it didn't leave me asking questions or wanting to know what happens next. Not even an ounce. I may catch the next episode just because of the reaction you guys gave it, but my roommate and I both caught it separately and both didn't care for it.

Did you like Glee? I didn't. Maybe it's a one or the other kind of thing.
I was at the SNL Weekend Update on Thursday and Joel McHale was seated right in front of me.
Happy.

I hate you. He's so cute!
If I had seen that Bill Hader James Carville in that audience I might have had to have been escorted out.

I was pretty underwhelmed by it, but I generally like the characters enough that I'll keep watching it for a while to see how it grows on me.

I'm SICK to death of shows that leave me "asking questions" and "wanting to know what happens next."
The serialization of EVERYTHING that kicked off in earnest with Cheers has been the slow and steady decline of the American sitcom. It used to be about the situation, and the comedy that arises from it. It wasn't about will-they-or-won't-they and on again/off again, and you can't miss an episode or you won't know what's going on. Just be funny for 22 minutes and the next time I see your show be funny then and don't require that I have a working knowledge of how many new shows followed by how many repeats are usually scheduled and how many day and time changes I need to be aware of so I can find your damn show again.
Just create a universe, stick to the logic you created in your universe, AND BE FUNNY.

Yeah I'm with FindingNamo on this one... i watch dramas for the serialization stuff... but my comedies I kinda just like watching an episode and laughing and not feeling like I have this big storyline... that's why i'm always watching old comedies on TV Land.. shows like I Love Lucy or The Cosby Show where you can just watch them whenever and it'd not be this huge arch (except for I Love Lucy when they go to Hollywood or Europe.. but it still felt like you could watch them whenever and it'd be funny)...

PRS - you might be onto something. I laughed a lot during this, and sat confused watching GLEE. This I'll tune in again, the jury is still out on GLEE.
