So being rejected on The Bachelor makes you a star? I guess ABC owed her one for the public humiliation. Melissa has been a dancer all of her life. She did a really good job but it certainly wasn't an even playing field. Shawn Johnson did okay but that Gilles- wow- how sexy was he?

That has got to be the most horrific season premire ever. Nobody stood out as being exceptionally good. I think the top three so far are about equal, but not wow at all. And yes, I think the whole celebrity thing has gotten out of hand. First, I really questioned Steve-O from Jackass being on. And now I'm wondering why Holly and Melissa are considered to be people of importance. But, I think ABC put Melissa in not only because of being dumped on the Bachelor, but to get that audience to watch DWTS, and to promote the Bachelor.

Well, don't forget she was also a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader... not just the dumpee on The Bachelor. They look at all achievements, careers/jobs, etc. before they consider you. But if that's the case, how did they pick Holly? Because SHE was dumped/or did dump Criss Angel? I personally would have put in Jodie Sweetin, Candace Cameron, Melissa Joan Hart, Tori Spelling, or any of the stars that were considered before but rejected.

Actually, the Girls Next Door has a pretty large fanbase, including many women. Holly has as much right to be there as Kim Kardashian last season. She's also trying to break away from working for Playboy, so maybe her agents thought this would be a good way to get her positive exposure. If they allow "reality show stars" as they have in the past, both girls fall into that category and both girls have more of a fanbase right now than Ty Murray and Gilles. Gilles acknowledged that he doesn't have a fanbase which is why he really wanted to make an impact right away. And it seems that he did.

I didn't think that Kim Kardashian belonged on it last season either, but it just seems that they are getting worse talent wise. It's not just the reality people either. Just in general.

I think Denise needs to do some work on that hair - that color looks horrific on her.

Am I the only one who was not a big Shawn Johnson fan? I just didn't think she was a great dancer. Her dances looked like her floor routines. She had such an advantage. She was fully conditioned, only 17, and people already knew her before the show even started. I did not even know of Gilles (but at least he was an actor and in show business)and Melissa wasn't really a celebrity. I was really hoping that Gilles would win. In a way, he did, because now his career will really take off. Still, I just didn't think Shawn brought the whole ballroom dance attitude- like Gilles and Melissa did.

Yes. I actually really liked her. So, I'm glad she won. Melissa annoyed the crap out of me all season. And from what I have noticed, it always comes down to largest fanbase, and who goes all the way with the free style. Melissa's tricks looked bad, and Gilles, his was just a bunch of fluff with Cheryl overpowering him.

Honestly though, this season I think was the worst. I would have been mad if Gilles or Shawn got voted off, but that's it. Nobody else was a loss at all, except for maybe Lil' Kim. But again, she didn't have the versatility, which I think probably hurt her.

I sort of lost interest weeks ago. I forgot the finale was even on last night........

I feel like this show might have run it's course. Bring on SYTYCD!!!!!

I agree. I felt like this season was more about who was terrible. A few times each season I get angry and annoyed about something that happened, but not this season. They need to bring that sspect back. LOL!

I thought this season finale was the best of the 8 seasons. The final three were the most evenly matched. And, I agree with who won. I liked it as much as I've ever liked the show.

I voted for Shawn and I am so happy that she won! It must be said that I am a gymnastics fan too...

However, since it was SO CLOSE, I am glad that she came out on top!

She had the best free dance. Melissa did the kind of routine that I would have expected to see from Shawn and Gilles did a routine that showed Cheryl off more than him.

Gilles was a very gracious runner-up and I hope this will fuel his career.
No one recognized his name when the cast was announced and now I think everyone will!

Cheryl Burke lost it for Gilles by making the free dance all about her...what was she thinking?! Flashdance?

He basically walked around while she did all of the famous moves from the film.

I love that pasadoble of Shawn's and glad she won. I kind of am hating show, especially all of the filler, but she deserved it.

Did Lady Gaga need to do two numbers?

The nice part of watching via Tivo is you skip the filler. I just breezed on by Lady Gaga. I never watch the musical acts, unless our dancers are part of it. Otherwise, what the hell are they doing there?!
