They're showing an epic miniseries called The Bible and this is Satan:

The series is getting a lot of attention -- it was created and produced by Roma Downey (of TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL fame) and her husband Burnett who created SURVIVOR -- they've done a lot to get the evangelical Christian community, including such bright bigoted lights as Joel Osteen, Rick Warren, and Focus On The Family -- to endorse the series.
Downey and Burnett were on CBS SUNDAY MORNING yesterday pimping the show, and well, I never thought it was possible to audibly simper before. Their patronizing brand of wealthy white-bread Christianity was just stomach-turning.
Oh wow. I had no idea. I just thought it was funny....I didn't really mean my thread to be taken seriously. But I guess you never know.
I do know that the miniseries has been a ratings bonanza for them though.
I'm dying to watch the HIstory Channel's Ancient Aliens, but my Time Warner doesn't air it.

All that money and they couldn't get a super hot Satan?
This was Mel Gibson's Satan in Passion of the Christ. A pretty lady.

That's a very prettified picture of the woman playing Satan in PASSION OF THE CHRIST -- I don't remember her ever looking that good in the film itself.
The top one is prettified, but the bottom one is straight out of the Gethsemane scene.
Here's some more of her
Gethsemane

Yeah, that's more how I remember it. Revolting film.

Whatever happened to the days when the History Channel actually showed History (it used to have the nickname the War Channel)? Now it only shows American Pickers, Swamp People, Pawn Stars and Top Gear! They should rename it the White Trash Redneck Channel.
"They should rename it the White Trash Redneck Channel."
I thought that was going to be TLC's rebranding.
A lot of stations have been redneck-happy. Honey Boo Boo on TLC, Duck Dynasty on A & E, and definitely Buckwild on MTV

Whatever happened to the days when:
MTV showed music videos
A&E showed arts programs
BBC showed British shows other than home improvement and Graham Norton
Fun Wynbish fact: The first college I went to was a strict Christian-Missionary Alliance college. We were banned from watching rated R movies, except for Passion of the Christ. They even rented out town's movie theatrer the night Passion of the Christ opened and gave students discounts to go see it.

I tried to watch "The Bible" out of curiosity. I tuned in to the first episode and could barely stomach the first 15 minutes before I turned it off. It was so bad! I see people raving over watching this- because it's the bible. Just because the series is based on the bibile- it doesn't mean that it's any good.
Roma Downey is playing Mary but it's hard to concentrate on her performance when her face doesn't move and her lips are so plumped up with collagen. Watching her and Mark Burnett on interviews is very stomach turning indeed. I would prefer "The Ten Commandments" with Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner, and Anne Bancroft ANY day over this crappy mini-series!

I think you meant Anne Baxter.
And the Ten Commandments has its own brand of hilarity.
Anne Baxter slinking around saying "Mohhhhhhhh-zes, Mohhhhhh-zes".
And when Charlton Heston has his encounter with God, he returns with a new hairdo. Who knew a meeting with God meant you got a free pompadour?
Yes! So sorry- in my head and in my mind I was picturing Anne Baxter! BAXTER! I don't know why I typed Bancroft! We are having a high pollen count today and my head is cloudy! And yes, that movie does have it's own brand of hilarity!

And don't forget Edward G. Robinson as the Uncle Tom Jew.

I enjoy the Bible when I don't have act like it's true or that I and others have to live my life according to it, but I couldn't get past a few minutes of the first episode either.
The Satan/Obama stuff has been getting a lot of press http://todayentertainment.today.com/_news/2013/03/18/17357066-bibles-satan-casting-raises-eyebrows-ire-with-comparison-to-president-obama?lite
As pretty much everyone has said on here, my main concern was just how bad the show is. I recorded the first episode expecting at the least some robes and sandals level camp and maybe some Garden of Eden skin and even on those levels it failed to really deliver.
I'm obsessed with this series. Everything about it is horrible, and I've been hate-watching Roma Downey since I was young and forced to sit through Touched by an Angel at a friend's house. Just terrible.

You're just mixing your Bible movies. Anne Bancroft played (the way too old) Mary Magdalene in the tv mini-series "Jesus of Nazareth".

Here's the CBS Sunday Morning piece -- the Christian condescension on display here is really appalling.
Eeesh.
Wasn't Anne just beautiful?! Anne Baxter! BAXTER!
Sorry- it looks like the picture didn't come through! Thanks Gotham but I don't remember if I ever saw Jesus of Nazareth. I loved Anne Bancroft too!
