Sorry- it looks like the picture didn't come through! Does The History Channel have an agenda? Thanks Gotham but I don't remember if I ever saw Jesus of Nazareth. I loved Anne Bancroft too!

At age 53, isn't Roma Downey a little long in the tooth to play a teen mom?

The CBS piece was unbearable...and hilarious. And it's always good to see Joel Osteen and his bizarre perversion of Jesus' message into the bullSH*T that is the 'Prosperity Gospel.'

She's using the Lucille Ball Maimed cameras.

She's using botulism.

We've gotten to a point where blindingly obvious plastic surgery (and other cosmetic procedures) is just a thing we accept, right? Like, it's so pervasive that we just let it be?

I have nothing against it, really. Do what you want. I do, however, mourn the loss of expression in middle aged and older actresses who have gone from full emotional palattes to something far more limited.

I don't like the series, the Bible either. There's nothing I like about it, but I'd never compare it to the fabulous TEN COMMANDMENTS. That's a movie which is tons of fun to watch. Never boring, always entertaining. One of my favs.

Sort of like MSNBC having an agenda.

Moving on, the character is not Obama as he was not heard to utter "All we are asking is the rich to pay a little bit more"

I tried to watch "The Bible" out of curiosity. I tuned in to the first episode and could barely stomach the first 15 minutes before I turned it off. It was so bad! I see people raving over watching this- because it's the bible. Just because the series is based on the bibile- it doesn't mean that it's any good.

I did the exact same thing with the same reaction, supportivemom. I lasted 15 minutes and deleted the first episode (and the rest of the cue).

Really bad. I much prefer Eve Harrington, Little Caesar, and The King (and I) wearing colorful bath towels and messing with Chuck Heston.

When Roma talks- nothing moves on her face- at all! I find that very distracting- that and the self-righteousness of her and her husband. They keep saying this is the #1 show in America. Umm, hello... it's the number 1 show on cable- not the "regular" networks. Way to spin that!

There's been a lot of that, lately.

"Vikings," which I didn't see, was another show inflating the ratings in the media, and they were asked to stop.

Roma still films better than Anjelica Huston. AH should sue the producers of Smash for hiring interns to film her.

This has started on UK television and it is dire - if you don't have the budget or the skills to do the job properly then don't do it at all.

The British actors sound as though they've been brought in to give the show authority but the absence of A and B listers suggests that they've all turned it down, which you can understand when the men who have made it in have all been directed to do Brian Blessed impressions (look-massive-and-holler-loudly). Kierston Wareing has turned in a great performance in EastEnders this year (Goth - take note for five years hence) but is diminished as Delilah:

The whole thing comes across a paint-by-numbers dramatisation leaving out the inconvenient bits: Lot fails to offer his virgin daughters; David and Johnathan's love for one another being nothing out of the ordinary and reduced to one line.

Still, there's plenty of violence...

Five years? PBS keeps interrupting EastEnders broadcasts with their stupid fundraisers. (Do they think people want to donate while watching The Greatest Doo Wop groups Evah!?)

By the time the US sees these episodes it will be the year 2030. Although I'm glad we're still seeing episodes with Wendy Richard. I hate to think what the show will be like without Pauline Fowler.

In The Greatest Story Ever Told Satan is Donald Pleasance in a cave.

Pilate is Telly Savalas by way of Kojak. MRS P was played by Angela L

Fun fact: In The Greatest Story Overtold The Virgin Mary was played by a 29-year-old Bette Midler.

This miniseries wasn't as bad as all of you thought.

NBC is looking for a ratings miracle. The broadcaster has greenlit Mark Burnett’s follow-up to the producer’s mini-series sensation The Bible.

NBC has ordered the 12-hour mini-series A.D., and it’s billed as a continuation of Burnett’s previous project, which aired on History Channel earlier this year and delivered massive ratings that drowned nearly all TV rivals — including NBC. A.D. was previously announced as being in development at the network last July.

I have a random question for you, tying into "A.D."

I was at a museum recently and was reading the descriptive plaques next to the antiquities ... and I noticed they weren't using "A.D" anymore. They either said B.C. or B.C.E.

This was the first time I noticed it. Is that change being widely adopted by museums and historians now? It's moving away from Christ as a way of telling time. BCE means Before Common Era.

EDIT: I should clarify ...

BC = BCE (Before Common Era)
AD = CE (Common Era)

And I will add that I think it's an unnecessary semantics game, because they are still telling time by the year Christ was born, whether they say so or not. Renaming it doesn't change that history or the years or how they are determined. It still is centered around the birth of Christ, like it or not.

I've noticed BCE and CE used for several years now. It seems to be widely used among scholars, schools, liberals and atheists.

A lot of scholarship shows Christ being born around 4 BC in accordance with King Herod's rulings and death.
