I’ve been here for 20 years? That’s horrifying. I’m not remembering FindingNamo.
You celebrated your 20th anniversary last month!

Jay, you think I do, but I have no problem allowing citizens to live as they see fit. I was offering an opinion that said the issue was complicated - explaining why many Republicans might oppose marriage equality and not be rooted in simple bigotry. I was defending my party, and I probably should not have given I was doing it more so to push back than anything else. I should have answered your original questions with "I have no issue with marriage equality", and "I can see why you blame MAGA for voting to dismantle it". I should have added that not all Republicans want to dismantle it.
You and others here lump all Republicans into a basket of degenerates simply because we voted for Trump. You don't allow for an opinion that Harris (and Biden before her) were terrible candidates. You don't allow us to consider that Trump was better than Biden/Harris in key areas. You don't acknowledge that you go too far when referencing Trump in some respects - or worse, when referencing people who would vote for him. You, more so than me, won't allow citizens to choose their priorities on how we see fit. That anyone is surprised there is massive push back, is what is inexplicable.
You didn’t offer one concrete reason why many Republicans are opposed to marriage equality. There’s nothing complicated about it. Homophobic mindset is the only reason.
I’m glad you personally are not against it, but on the other hand… you don’t do much to protect it either. You see it as a “minor issue” of no real importance.
I should probably add that opposition to marriage equality is only one symptom. Their hatred goes much deeper than that.
Opposing same sex marriage is a good reason why many Dems are upset about this election. The potential national abortion ban is another. Now people on ACA are afraid they'll be without health insurance next year. And Dumpster has come out saying he officially wants to eliminate the department of Education and institute Christian prayer in all public schools.
Tell me again, Pauly, how he doesn't plan to try and turn this country into a White, Christian majority?
And before Pauly starts up with the "you all's" again, Dumpster will appoint Tom Homan as his administrator border czar. Homan was one of the lead guys who put together Project 2025.

Yes - he was a little hard on me once or twice when I used to be more vocal about being a small-l libertarian! (See fairly recent example here at post #3.)
Oh, I’d forgotten he’d visited that (relatively) recently! Seems like a different era. I believe he holds the record for being the first ever commenter to be suspended. Which is why he went into exile, in disgust.
I will keep a candle lit until his return.
The cast announcement for his circus is slowly being announced.
Marco Rubio, 53 (expected), Secretary of State
Pete Hegseth, 44 (named), Secretary of Defense
Mike Lee, 53 (expected): Attorney General (Department of Justice)
Linda McMahon, 76 (expected), Secretary of Commerce
Kristi Noem, 52 (named), Secretary of Homeland Security
Tom Homan, border czar administration

Why would Trump appoint someone he once mercilessly belittled as SoS? It makes no sense.
Pete Hegseth for Defence. A FOX News talking head, no more. Great.
Elon Musk as… what?
“Government Efficiency AKA The Great Purge of Decent People”
Oh, right, just in an ”advisory” capacity… sure. Nothing to do with his plans for SpaceX or him not wanting to divest. Corruption already. He’s already abused his position by naming it after his personal cryptocurrency.
A sad day. Now I’m starting to panic.
Musk's position may not pass, but when someone has donated $20+ million dollars to your campaign, it just may go through.
Hegseth as SoD is scary. A weekend morning Fox News host who has zero experience and has never stepped foot inside the Pentagon gets the 2nd most important job in the country behind being President.
Matt Gaetz for AG?!?? This country is so screwed.
Matt Gaetz.
Thoughts, Pauly? Zeppie? Is this what you voted for?

Shocking pick for AG. I have mixed, initial, feelings about it. I would rather Trump pick most anyone else. This pick in particular seems like a demonstration of Trump's big orange middle finger. I warned you all that you pushed too far. Even with that being the case, I would rather work toward finding the least bit of common ground. But given much of the Left is in hysterics and thinks all of us on the Right are racist, stupid and garbage, I won't lose any sleep with this pick.
RFK Jr. up next.
Do you want his nomination to be confirmed, Pauly?
Again, is this what you voted for?

Yes, I voted for this. Trump is being sent back to the white house to shake things up. And that appears exactly what he's planning to do.
RFK Jr. for Department of Health? He's an anti-vaccine guy and has worms eating his brains. Yes, this is exactly the type of circus you voted for Pauly. Shaking things up is one thing, but picking people to go into positions of power where they have zero business doing so. Enjoy this trainwreck!!

It didn't have to be this way. The Democrat machine failed miserably. There has been no better example of snatching defeat from the hands of victory within my lifetime if ever in the history of the world. You failed every step of the way. You blame everyone but yourselves, and you have to make everyone on the other side racist, sexist and evil in attempt to obscure your failures.
I am incredulous as to why Democrats utilize constant over-the-top nonsense in attempt to justify how bad Trump is. Refusing to say a word about Trump would have been far more effective in keeping Trump out of the white house. He did not need your help to be massively unpopular, especially after Jan. 6th.
Massive push back was predictable, and it was predicted. So you too, enjoy the sh!t show!

Once again Jay, you have no idea who I voted for this election. Actually, I personally can't stand Gaetz because of the role he had in dumping McCarthy as Speaker of The House.

I also recall mumblings about his chemicals in the water claim. I don't recall that he believed it to some sort of certainty - but rather he suggested it as something to be studied given something about frogs and their changing sex based on certain chemicals. Regardless, I recall it being nonsense. Certainly, not much of a defense I would agree with you on that. Since his run for President and subsequent support for Trump, I have listened to him speak though and have found him to be reasonable (small sample sizes). If he truly believes chemicals in water are turning people gay, then that will be a significant indication he presents as reasonable but is anything but. So no, I do not share any such belief.
Being we are all concerned with the election outcome - as well as so completely divided, it seems reasonable to consider taking a step back and begin compromising if only in small ways. I have no idea how we become less divided in any other way. Hate, certainly has proven ineffective."
You just threw your concerns out the car window on your way to vote?

I didn't vote for this trainwreck of an administration, you did. You keep pointing figures at Democrats for what Dumpster is doing to his cabinet now? I'm sure you'll blame Democrats when the Department of Education is dismantled, or when the economy collapses under Dumpster or when gay rights are taken away. Keep pointing fingers at Dems while any Republican refuses to step forward and say something now about what Dumpster is doing because they fear they'll get fired and thrown under the bus.

The Democrats had 4 years to govern and 70% of people in exit polls said the country was heading in the wrong direction. They doubled down on Hillary Clinton calling Trump supporters "deplorables" in 2016 with Biden calling them "garbage" in 2024. After a while, people really get tired of you insulting them and calling them horrible names (stupid, racist, sexist & homophobic). Most people in the "heartland" don't give a f*** if you have Oprah or some other big celebrity at a rally. They are concerned with the price of things, crime, open border and many other things.

They did this over-the-top stuff about Trump because it was tough to sell their record of the last 4 years. By now, people knew all about Trump personally so there was nothing more to add. You are 100% correct, they should have remained quiet and focused on a positive agenda. Comment from Harris that she could not think of anything she would do different from Biden hurt big time IMO.
