Have you ever thought that maybe some high percentage of Republicans don't hate gay people, but find you and those like you impossible to muster empathy for? Take me for example. I've done nothing and said nothing deserving of such hate that you fling at Republicans. You are not entitled to my vote, yet you demand it else I am garbage. Why in your mind should I have ANY empathy for you, let alone so much empathy that I should vote against my own self-interests?

Jay, I think marriage equality is a complicated issue, and for some a great deal complicated while for others not so much, not unlike abortion, and I'm guessing you disagree with me on this. If I'm right, then you have no actual interest in what I think about marriage equality. In other words, you're very much of the mind that says "ally with me, not 90% but 100%, or you're against me". Am I close? If not correct about you, there's no question that is the case with kdogg's thinking.

I understand to varying degrees all sorts of issues, but regardless I am able to consider, respect and weigh many viewpoints, whether I agree, disagree or fall somewhere in the middle. I am more tolerant of people than you and light years more tolerant than kdogg. I'm guessing we disagree on that too. And if so, it's because you are less capable or less willing to consider, respect, and weigh many viewpoints regardless of whether you agree, disagree or fall somewhere in the middle.

What makes it complicated, Pauly?

Two people who love each other, want to make a life together, and avail of all the legal protections that can make that happen.

Simple.

I do genuinely want to know what issues you may have with this. As of now, I fail to understand why you would begrudge anybody this right. There is no rationale at all, as far as I can see.

Something like half the country is Republican. You all see and hear only what you want to see and hear. Such as "Kamala was a great candidate", and so was Joe Biden 3 months before she was appointed.

If I am demonstrating ignorance, then help me out so I can do better. Unlike many on the Left, I have an appreciation for the fact ignorance can be remedied. Unlike you all here, I have an interest in learning from mistakes.
