I loved this movie. I started crying when Peter was breaking everything in the playhouse/stage thing. When I see sad movies though I'm always afraid that I'm the only one crying so I try to stealthily wipe away my tears. Usualy there are a lot of other people doing the same though

I just can't watch anything after the scene where they perform Peter Pan at the house.
Everything I've read about JM Barry contradicts the Depp character. For example, I read that he didn't tell his flyers they'd be flying until opening night and that he was just a real ass.

The real drama and tears, if you want them, can be found in the true story of Barrie and the boys from that family.
What are you getting at, Jose'?

Jose, can I block you now?
if you really love this movie, DON'T research BARRIE's real life. the illusion will be shattered.
Just say it Jose, you are turned on by the stories of child molestation....

Johnny Depp had something to say about those rumors about Barrie in an Entertainment article from last winter (I loved the movie so I got and kept the issue):
"That whole thing, I thought it was such a load of hearsay, like a nasty rumor that had been around since then. I don't buy into that. I thought it would be really wrong to give any weight to that at all. Of course it had to be mentioned, it had to be dealt with."

I like how it wasn't a major theme.
On 2 slightly unrelated notes:
Has anyone watched the bloopers on the tv?
They are really cute--I like that they joked around with the young actors.
I also loved all the tries it took to NOT make poor Peter Pan smack into the wall.
Secondly, I am trying to get used to Julie Christie. I had to watch "Don't Look Now" and write a paper in a British film class...and that movie just scarred me for life.

I wonder if Freddie's acting skills (which was great in this) has gotten any better?
We shall see in Charlie in the Chocolate Factory.

Some of you folks have your minds in the gutter.
There is a very sad story behind the relationship between Barrie and the children in that family.
If any of you had any true interest you'd do a bit a research on the web and you could discover it for yourself.
I found the film unteresting as a film, but I did do some reading afterwards and was quite shocked and saddened at what I found out.
That's why I say the true drama happened in real life, not in that boring film.

How very Tom Cruise of you.

I don't know about Tom Cruise, doesn't interest me.
All I know is that if the subject matter a film that purports to be based on true life interests me, and I know little about it other than what I saw, I tend to do some further research.
I would think some folks might do the same. I was surprised with what I learned about Barrie and that family.

I love this movie... I thought it was such a great movie and Freddie did so great in the movie with Depp. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet... but it was Depp liked Freddie [who played Peter] so much that he wanted Freddie in teh Charlie movie... so Depp convinced the producers to get Freddie to play Charlie. He called Freddie "a saint... it was like meeting an angel"
aww... korenglish
I adore Finding Neverland. Makes me weep every time.
I did not cry @ this film. But then, I am an oncology nurse, if i cried ONLY @ the real life tragedies i experience I would never be able to see again. In comparison, this film was a page straight out of melodrama and frankly i resent the way death is portrayed here- all clean and uplifiting and.. I have to stop now.
SOME of you may have noticed I don't speak directly about my work and w good reason. The reality would be too upsetting.
Enough.

I LOVE this movie. When we saw it for the first time, my friend and I sat there bawling our eyes out and at the end of it, this little old lady leans over, pats me on the the arm and says "oh, I'm glad I wasn't the only one."
