Lucky 7!
I didn't hate the two episodes that aired but there wasn't anything especially compelling about it either. I'll try and check out The Syndicate to see if that was any better.

The Syndicate (both seasons) was pretty great. I had high hopes for Lucky 7, but I think the translation to American tv just botched everything about it. I don't think the story could sustain itself for 22 episodes (the original had just five) and the BBC version played with time in a way that the American version didn't (at least not in the two episodes that aired).
"O'Brien" is in The Syndicate. That makes it worth watching, at least for me.
Had no idea it was based on a UK show. Will check it out.
Denise was the only character I actually like and then I saw she was Denise from the UK show and it all made sense. Need to find a way to check it out.
There are some very promising new shows. I really hope that SUPER FUN NIGHT succeeds because I just fell in love with the pilot.
Jacki Weaver is supposed to come into the show in some capacity as Rebel's mom for SFN.
so far, I haven't seen anything I've liked. I did like the Michael J Fox show a LITTLE more than the first two that aired, but not much. ^And SFN didn't seem appealing to me at all.
Not surprised. The ratings were abysmal. I admit to having had no interest in it, but from what I heard it was more modestly successful than some of the more out-and-out embarrassing pilots this year. The key word, to their downfall I imagine, was "modest;" that was all it ever seemed. LUCKY 7 might have fared better had ABC programmed it with compatible lead-ins, but an all-new night (even on the coattails of AGENTS OF SHIELD) wasn't likely to succeed.
Were I in control of ABC, TROPHY WIFE would have followed MODERN FAMILY and SUPER FUN NIGHT would have anchored after SHIELD. That might have given LUCKY 7 more momentum, but it doesn't jive with the rest of the channel's programming.
Normally we watch a show and it gets cancelled. We never watched it so I am shocked.
Jordan, Did you see the actual 1st episode of Super Fun Night or the 2nd episode that aired on Wednesday? I saw the 2nd episode because apparently ABC decided not to air the 1st. I was sort of disappointed in it, but I wonder if seeing the 1st would make a difference in understanding.
Jordan i wanted to love Super Fun Night but good lord it was a mess, i adore Rebel Wilson but they have zero idea what to do with her, lame jokes and a naff story (on the first episode anyway), i hope they can turn it around.
Michael J Fox show is too middle of the road, they need to commit to it.
Loved Trophy Wife (though prob getting canceled)
Jordan, the critics have been tearing Super Fun Night apart. I don't get the hate. It's a wacky sitcom from a really off-beat comic. The big surprise for me was that it was a Conaco, aka Conan O'Brien's production company, show. I knew he fell hard for her when he interviewed her. The show is 100% Rebel Wilson's aesthetic and it's not going to please everyone. Hopefully we get at least a season out of it.
I was so hoping Dads had been cancelled. I'll never get that half hour (twenty-two-ish minutes) of my life back. But - tick, tock.
I love Super Fun Night and Trophy Wife, so far. Big fan of Agents of Shield as well. Caught the pilot of Welcome to the Family onDemand, and it was terrible. Surprisingly super into The Crazy Ones, as well. I'm really excited for The Tomorrow People and Once Upon A Time in Wonderland to premiere this coming week. I've loved a lot of the pilots I've seen so far, and I'm interested to see what succeeds and what doesn't, since TV is such a wide landscape and can not be quite so easily predicted.
On top of the shows I mentioned, I'm also a fan of Brooklyn Nine-Nine (despite finding Andy Samberg fairly annoying) and I very much like Sean Saves the World. I feel like I'm constantly DVRing this season, which I didn't do a ton of last season, but I suppose it proves what a fairly good TV season it's been.

Thats the problem, its not her aesthetic at all, its a watered down awkward version of what she does so well

Watered down? That sure doesn't sound like American network tv.
I don't think it's watered down at all. This is the kind of stuff she was improvising on the sets of Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect. Her stand up is really awkward and built around her delivery more than the material. Her jokes by anyone else would be sad trombone, not sad clown. It's self-deprecation without self-awareness.
Saw The Crazy Ones
One viewing & bye bye
I didn't even know this show happened. Huh.
We Are Men has been given the axe by CBS. It was pretty terrible. The only thing it had going for it was Jerry O'Connell in a Speedo but I guess they couldn't do that for every episode.
I have no idea how Kal Penn continues to get work. He is a terrible actor.

Is that the Jerey O'Connell show?
It is indeed. It was painfully bad.
