Marquise, you are my hero.
What a nice way to start the day.
Mine is pre-ordered...and I believe I will be stuffing many stockings with it this Christmas
Who doesn't love Mary?!
Best news I've had to day.....JIppi!
The stage musical has its world premiere in London the day after this comes out, and that will in fact be the 40th anniversary of the film's premiere.

Every day's a holiday with Addy.
awww...
It just hit me that this is the 40th Anniversary.
The FORTIETH!!
40 YEARS!
How the heck did THAT happen?...
Wasn't I just a little girl??
Ok everybody: Sing-A-Long!
(guaranteed to make sure you have a great day!)
Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious
um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious
if you say it loud enough you'll always sound precocious
supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
Because i was afraid to speak when i was just a lad
my father gave my nose a tweak and told me i was bad
but then one day i learned a word that saved my aching nose
the biggest word you've ever heard and this is how it goes
oh, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious
if you say it loud enough you'll always sound precocious
supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
so when the cat has got your tongue there's no need for dismay
just summon up this word and then you've got a lot to say
but better use it carefully or it may change your life
one night i said it to my girl and now my girls my wife
she's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
And how cool that I still remember sitting next to my father at the movie enraptured by the film. Of course, I also remember calling dibs to sit next to him so that I would get more of the jujubees the he always bought at the movies. Being the oldest has it's advantages!
Thanks Marquise! How thoughtful of you. :)
See how giddy Addy is with delight? :)
I hope to see the London production after my trip to The Netherlands in late January and of course I'll be the proud owner of this 40th Anniversary Special Edition as soon as it's available. :)
Will you join my tea party on the ceiling?
wow that's a cute anecdote SOMMS. i just only got to see Mary Poppins for the first time about 2 years ago when my ex-girlfriend rented the dvd from blockbuster.
Marquise are you serious? What were you watching when you were a kid? And don't say porn
When I was a kid, I never really liked this movie, for some reason. It bored the crap out of me and it wasn't until I was older I started to really enjoy it.
I think my four year old friend Livvie may be getting this in her stocking. She used to love this movie when she was a year and two years old. You couldn't speak during the Tuppence a Bag song - it was a very serious moment. If you talked, she would turn and glare at you and tell you to stop.
I have spent many hours adoring this movie...
and Feed the Birds ALWAYS makes me weep.
I believe a trip to London, to see the stage production may be in order. (Marquise, want to go?...)
Addie, Feed the Birds is one of my favorite songs from any movie.
I have a Feed the Birds snowglobe that my grandfather gave me when I was little, because I loved Mary Poppins so much. It's one of my treasures...
Glebb, can I come to you tea party on the ceiling?
Addy, Liv has one of those too. Her grandmother paid some ridiculous price on Ebay, but totally worth it.

Being a collector of penguins, my favorite scene is no surprise
Feed the birds has been a theme song of mine since childhood - I still think the sentiments expressed in it should be embraced by more people.
Addy:
The party aint gonna happen without ya!
Maybe we can have a Mary Poppins theatre trip together with Marquise and others in London - end of January or first few days of February. I'm just starting to work on this trip.
I also want to thank Marquise for putting me in a BWW.COM title.
This is a red letter day for me. :)

Early each day to the steps of Saint Paul's
The little old bird woman comes
In her own special way to the people she call,
"Come, buy my bags full of crumbs
Come feed the little birds,
Show them you care
And you'll be glad if you do
Their young ones are hungry
Their nests are so bare
All it takes is tuppence from you
Feed the birds, tuppence a bag
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag
Feed the birds," that's what she cries
While overhead, her birds fill the skies
All around the cathedral the saints and apostles
Look down as she sells her wares
Although you can't see it,
You know they are smiling
Each time someone shows that he cares
Though her words are simple and few
Listen, listen, she's calling to you
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag"
Though her words are simple and few
Listen, listen, she's calling to you
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag"
Rath, my snowglobe sits in a place of honor on the table next to my 'reading chair' in my bedroom...
Glebb, count me in! And, today is better than red letter. It's Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious!
Thanks DGrant. That is a most beautiful song.
It's good for plies.
Can't help thinking about "Stay Awake" and "Let's Go Fly A Kite" too.
Once, at my grandmother's senior citizens residence, I heard an old woman sing "Feed the Birds" with a thick Yiddish accent.
Her vibrato on the word "tuppence" was extraordinarily moving (although I still giggle when I imitate it).
My cubicle mate just came over and asked my why in the world I was whistling Feed the Birds (I have a habit of whistling when a song is stuck in my head). I just smiled and said that it was a supercalifragilisticexpealidocious kind of day. They all think I'm nuts anyway, so what the heck!
