To add to my post, the highlight of the premiere was that Bernadette Peters was on it.
I still can't believe they got away with the icicle thing, that was one of the most ridiculous storylines ever.
My problem with the show is that tonight was a lot of the same: Meredith worried about commitment, Alex being nice to Izzie then being an ass-hole to her, the Chief making some big boring speech, and Lexie being one of the most annoying unbearable and unwatchable characters on TV today.

Hats off to Blondebaby589 for using "really?" and resisting the urge to use "seriously?"
Yeah, I'm hoping the show picks up again. Again, I am all content on making this the Callie, Mark, and Alex show since everyone else so far is annoying and stupid as usual. I'll admit, I could hardly tell of a time difference between the finale and last night's episode, and I know like a couple weeks were supposed to have passed since then.
And the reason for no new episode next week is for vice presidential debates. I know they are important, but it's just frustrating to have something new on for a week, and then it being off right away.
With our luck the preview for that big flood next week will be another one of Meredith's dreams.
SHONDA if you read this, I just have one thing to say: FORGET THE APOCALYPTIC OVER HYPED EPISODES AND GO BACK TO FOCUSING ON THE INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS!!!!!!
Please end the bombs, drownings, boat wrecks, floodings(next week-yikes!), injured deers, killer icicles, Izzie doing surgery upside down in a car and focus on the humanity that made Season 1 so addictive.
I agree with Katherine Heigl in the sense that no one is getting award worthy material when they are doing such preposterous things. Bring back heartbreak, grief, loss, joy, accomplishment, friendship, sex, intimacy, great conversations, and the evolution of characters to my Grey's. PLEASE!!
Word to pretty much what everyone said.
I didn't have a problem with the icicle stabbing. It happens. My issue was that 98.7 degree body is going to melt a damn icicle. It stayed in her and upright through an exam and xrays AND he had to pull it out. It's not like it went all the way through. It would have just slid out at that point. Bull.
Bernadette Peters was soooo good. I just love her acting style. I say submit this for Guest Actress Emmy...
Bettyboy72, I second what you said.
Bettyboy, I third it!
That premiere was downright painful to watch, I was so dissappointed.
I have to say, tonight's episode was not as bad as the premire, but it was still very very scattered. Nothing they did made any sense at all, but then since it's Grey's, I expect that now.
I'm still annoyed with where the Callie/Hahn relationship is going. Again, how is it a major part of the series now, when it is hardly getting any mention, and Sara is the one hardly in the episodes again, as usual. The highlight of Callie tonight was her and Mark in the residents lounge, I guess that's where they were. It was a tad bit funny at the end where Erica admitted why she didn't like Callie talking to Mark, but that was it. I need more Sara, dammit!
Alex's patient was pretty predictible. I had a feeling after the fall and the CT scan, that he was going to be the patient on the table when the ceiling caved in. Yes, so that was a bit of a cheap thrill, which wasn't even that exciting.
Wow, as usual Izzie just seized to amaze me with her stupidity. She never actually made it clear that she was asking Cristina to move in with her. Dumbass. Just ask. I mean, I understand her being a little upset in the end, but of course her whining had to be at the expense of Callie. Fantastic Shonda. Oh well at least Callie had a really cute shirt on in that scene. :)
If I think of more, I'll post more, but those are my main comments.
I was annoyed at the lack of Callie content until I realized this was the episode they were filming when Sara's best friend died.
I liked most all of it. I liked Izzie's big let down. I actually LIKED the Callie/Erica scene. I thought it was cute at the end. I like Lexie being a vast bucket of knowledge, but not the chasing of George. Not bad at all.
Oh, okay, then the lack of Callie makes sense then. No more hate from me now about that. :)
Yeah, I don't know about Izzie. I guess I was just really really glad that she wasn't getting what she wanted, but of course her stupid meltdown made Callie leave. At least though nothing really negative happened for Callie in that situation. And it was Izzie who made herself look stupid. But, I just expect that now.
I'm still going to have to see about Callie and Hahn. Now that I know the reason Sara was hardly in the episode, I guess I'll just have to see where it goes next week.
Now, someone on another board said the preview for next week showed Callie talking about going on a date with Erica, but I don't think that was the one I saw. The one I saw had no Callie in it at all. Or did I just totally miss something?
No, they weren't in the promo, but that was one of the spoilers for next week. They both have first date jitters.
Yeah, actually apparently, that promo was from CTV in Canada. I love how people start talking about stuff like that, like everyone should know it or have seen it. It isn't until later, people reveal they don't live in the United States. Oh yeah, and the promo is on youtube now.

Well, tonight's episode was totally amazing! It was funny. And Callie looked amazing at the end. Her conversation with Bailey was totally priceless. and Cristina was back to being really cool. the whole Alex and Izzie thing was the only annoying thing from this episode. And I still think Derek is a total douche, but that doesn't surprise me anymore.
All in all, I think this is my favorite episode since The Heart of the Matter last season.

Loved the episode! Except Alex being a douche. Callie and Erica are adorable. That little kid was amazing, I really liked him.
Yeah, usually I like Alex, but not so much tonight. Okay, I think part of it was Izzie again. What he did to her was not nice, but she was acting like they were in kindergarten again. Gee, maybe he should just stay away from her now, as it seems she brings out the worst in him.

Hmmm... I thought Alex was in the wrong completely, personally. I would have been PISSED OFF. But I've been hating both of their characters lately.
Tonight's episode was amazing! There definitely were a lot of things running through my mind though. Like, I think Alex's behavior tonight meant more about his past, and not just Ava. I was really expecting him to say something to Izzie about his own father, but it never came out. Sure, we know the man was not good, and we learn that Alex had to take care of his mother, but why?
Callie was really funny. I'll admit, I always liked her and Mark together, so that was just what I needed again, even if there is nothing else after it. And I really am not hating her relationship with Hahn anymore. It just sort of bugs me though that they are like a completely different storyline from anything else in the show. I guess that is a good thing, but it is almost like they have no connection to most of the other characters.
My biggest pet peeve from this episode, is of course the good old timeline. I think it was Alex who said it was October. Okay, there was a Halloween episode last season, meaning it was the very last day of October. So, George spent 2 1/2 years as an intern, or everything after the Halloween episode took place in a matter of a few short hours, and tonight's episode was the very last minute of it? LOL!
And I just do not like Meredith and Derek at all still.
SPOILERS (not really, but enough that you might not want to read ahead if you haven't watched it)
The whole Meredith and Derek "really" together thing is killing me. I miss hot on call room sex, but the real commitment was always just a step away relationship. Now they are acting like 2 year-olds squabbling over their favorite toys. I just keep thinking that they are yelling, "No MY surgical honor. MINE!" "Waaa, but I wanna play too!" And seriously, a kidney in a jar makes things better? I feel so bad for Lexie. She's started to grow on me. I want George with someone good and decent and I think that Lexie could be it for him. Especially after her "Screw you Dr. O'Malley."
I agree with you. Meredith and Derek were always sort of boring to me, but now they are just acting totally stupid. And that is Izzie's department, in my opinion. LOL! I always hate when Derek talks to her and sounds like a total jerk. He did it last week too.
And now, I'm hearing of the previews for next week from Canada are showing Callie and Mark together in bed. I don't know what to think about that. Granted, I do love those two together, but it just doesn't seem like a love situation now. But, we shall see. And as always, previews are very misleading for a reason. I just wish Canada did not get the ones like that, and we could see them not via youtube.
You're all missing the most important thing!
Return of the hot army surgeon. That was by far the most exciting moment for me.

Me too! When we were discussing the season premiere, I mentioned hoping he'd change his mind and take the job at Seattle Grace. I shouted an enthusiast "YAY" at my TV when I saw him last Thursday. . He seems to have the right attitude to compliment Cristina's personality.
