They couldn't just let George go and join the army, and be like, "Okay, bye!" and that's it? They had to go and do that to him? That freaked me out so much! I had no idea that was him until Meredith said it; I watch often, but not religiously, so I couldn't figure out the 007 reference or why she was so upset.
Even if they're both dead it's not like they could never come back. Look at Denny.

Some info there from Rhimes... she seems very uppity about this season's choices, and very secretive about actor contracts (which almost always means negativity is in store). If anything, I say George and Izzie will both be back just so Rhimes can spite the rumors that she claims to have not heard (yet she obviously had to sit down with network execs about it already).
The episode, anyway, was brilliant. I had known for a long time that George would be injured "in the line of duty," and thus I never expected the John Doe to be him simply because that's not what my spoilers told me. Still, the moment when he wrote "007" will go down as one of my all-time favorite Grey's moments. Simply BRILLIANT.

Emcee, my mother couldn't figure it out either because she didn't watch the first season. In the very first episode one of the interns is chosen to scrub in on an appendectimy, and they choose George. Well he messes up big time and almost ends up killing the patient so all the other interns call him 007, meaning he "has a license to kill". Bringing that back now was genius.

This episode wasn't as good as the previous one in my opinion. For me it was predictable. I had seen the George/John Doe storyline on ER a few years back. So I knew it was him. I also figured it was him and not Hunt enlisting.
I'm curious if they will kill off either of them or both. At least they made the characters likeable again. I hated both last season.
I completely forgot to mention something due to the whole George thing. When Izzy imagined the beach scene with Denny for the first time, I just started laughing. Not only was it bizarre, it also looked like they were sitting in front of a beach backdrop. And was the girl who died (Alison, maybe?) Paris from Gilmore Girls? I wasn't sure since she had no hair.
I have been thinking a bit, and I'm not 100% sure that the George joining the Army thing made any sense. But, I could be totally wrong. I know a couple of people who have enlisted and went to Iraq. However, I know they were given more than a day before they left. Plus, they had to go to basic training. Or is it different if you are just going over to as a doctor to help with medical stuff? It just seemed too soon, in my opinion. But, then they had to make us wonder if T.R. Knight is coming back or not.
I have a few family members in Iraq right now, one of which is a doctor. George would have absolutely had to go to basic training, but he could have chosen to go immediately. Did it say in the episode that he was going right into war? I just assumed he was going to an army base for training.
I don't know. I just assumed he was going straight there. But it definitely was a few weeks at least for the people I know who went to basics before they even went for that.

Im pretty sure he was leaving for training the next day.
Im surprised at the amount of people who didn't get the '007' reference too. I absolutely gasped when I realized it was George - but I honestly have to say that I spent the whole episode trying to figure out 'who' I saw in John Doe's face. And Im also glad to see Im not the only one who had trouble functioning after that episode. I did not sleep very well last night at ALL.
Im still a little messed up after that.
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
Can I bring the shallow for just a second- was anyone else completely distracted during the post-it vows scene because the song playing in the background was the theme to FLASHDANCE? I started laughing so hard I had to rewind it so that I could hear the vows part.
and blondebaby589 yes that was Liza Weil- love her!

I actually didn't even notice it was What a Feeling by Irene Cara until pretty much the last possible moment

The whole Meredith/Derek wedding thing was funny, and I think it was supposed to be that way. I may not like them at all, but it brought a light moment where it was most needed.
I didn't sleep well at all either. I was up until 2am, and then I think I finally fell asleep for an hour at 5am or something. I know I was dozing a little, but I kept checking the clock to see what time it was when I felt like I couldn't sleep. The end of that episode did not set well with me emotionally, and now with stuff just going on in general, I need to be alone, and it just isn't happening.
The Mer/Der "wedding" was perfect for them. It was cute and funny. I don't think they really need much more than that. If they make it to City Hall, that's great. But I'm not concerned.
I have to go back and listen for the Flashdance scene. Looking back after watching it, they gave us a 007 reminder. it was said early in the show. When it was said I had a feeling it would figure into the show somehow. But I didn't see that coming! I doubt that T.T Knight will back (alive). I think they are both gone.
Ugh, my original bump did not show up. Grr!
Anyway, it's back tonight.
I have a feeling I'll be needing a box of tissues for this, and I rarely ever cry over television or movies.
And on a more positive note, what does everyone think of Stella Luna for the name of Ellen Pompeo's baby? I keep thinking of the bat from the book "Stellaluna."
I think that's a lot of l's for a little kid. lol
Looking forward to the premiere. Debra Monk!
Isn't Stella Luna the name of a clothing store? That was my first thought- I swear it's the name of a clothing store, or clothing line, or designer, or something...
Stella Luna is a designer shoe brand. StellaLuna is a band. Stella Luna is a restaurant in NY. Stella Luna is a candle company. Stella Luna is a children's book.

Though it's pretty easy to deduce who died if you think about it.
Yeah, I'm so bad. I looked at every single spoiler from the summer up to today. Good thing there is still too much of a mystery to really know what goes down.
DO NOT READ BELOW THIS LINE THERE BE SPOILERS DOWN DERE
Okay if you're reading this then you won't care. I'm really happy that Katherine Heigl's "Izzy" is not dead. I really like her and Justin Chamber's "Karev" together and I want to see them grow together as a couple.
I am sad that TR Knight is gone and just thought of having to watch George's funeral tonight is going to be emotional for me because I'm really attached to each and every character on that show so I have a big ole box o' Kleenex by the bedside.

They didn't try too hard to keep it a secret.

What mystery? They say who is dead in all the sneaks. There is talk of organ donation and going to the funeral.
