Haggard was exposing himself to young boys. In my humble opinion, that makes Haggard a pedophile. Period. How do some of these psychologists/psychiatrists come up with some of these ridiculous phrases like "a heterosexual with issues"??

Thanks for posting the link Tazber.

Haggard came across as being arrogant, obnoxious and self-righteous on the creation/evolution documentary he did on British TV before his gay issues became known. Present circumstances have obviously forced him to confront his own arrogance and self-righteousness (I think he refers to these characteristics as "superstitions" in the interview :-P).

The only hope for this guy is that when he has worked all this through (and he still has some considerable way to go) he uses his experience to challenge the homophobia that is spouted by his type of fundamentalist churches and bring them to a more objective and reconciled understanding of being gay.

Lets see....I was married...have two kids...wow, this is a whole new way to describe myself!

Of course, my ex wouldn't call it a complication....more like a deal-breaker....or an abomination...depends on how filled with the love of Christ she is that day.

All I know is the day I came out such a weight lifted off my shoulders. I've been at peace with myself ever since. It's other people who choose to make a stink about it.

I just finished Pelosi's documentary and am very surprised to find myself having much sympathy for him.

I was reminded that people are so complex. Do I despise his stance on his sexuality and his speaking about sexuality in the way he does? Absolutely. There are plenty of things to not like about what he did and who he was, etc.

But, he's also a human. And as shown in the film, a really nice human. He seemed absolutely genuine. Maybe he's a great actor and I am being fooled. But, I truly felt bad for him.

And I think most of all because he was so harshly shunned by people who should have been more forgiving--more Christlike. And those kinds of stories expose so much of what's wrong in our society I feel.

That' s the thing--unlike Warren and Huckabee, I didn't any hate in Haggard. Just ignorance and hurt and naivete. Maybe that's because he's a broken man. Maybe that's because what he has been showing is an act. I dunno.

It just seems that he still can't accept the fact the he's gay or at least bi and keeps finding new words or phrases for his behavior because he can't or refuses to deal with the heart of the matter.

I don't envy him in the least.

I'm relatively certain that there were a few folks who suffered a fair amount of pain and anguish because of the crap he spewed for years. I really don't feel a whole lot of sympathy for him now as he continues to squirm his way back into a postition of influence, affluence and power.

At this point I find it hard to give a rat's ass about anyone forcing me to pay attention to the crap they should be working out in private with a shrink. It's because of people like him that this country is so ass-backward when it comes to gay rights and I don't give a crap about his Jesus issues.
