No, Cuddy had a point when she refused to allow the spinal surgery- he didn't have medical reasons for that until he ran more tests. The second time, Cuddy acknowledged herself that House came up with crazy, perfect theories with no backup evidence all the time! And I'm pretty sure that if I go back I can find times House ran tests or treated on the basis of nothing but a hunch. Maybe those were times he was too quick to Cuddy to catch him. :)
And if anything, opiates dull your thinking. But as Detox demonstrated, before the ketamine, no opiates was a far worse option for House.
The second series of Blackadder is the best, IMO, but the fourth has the best ending, and Laurie's a regular in that one.
"I vas the sheep!" (Can you tell Count Ludwig is my favorite character ever?)

From the spoilers I've read, it seems that House's Vicodin dependency (and the trouble it gets him into) will be a major plot point this year.

mmmmmmmm, vicodin.

I also cried at the end when the guy stood up!
Oh, yeah, I didn't even realize there wasn't any clinic time until it was mentioned in this thread. wow. I always like watching those. The episode that had the kid with the toys up his nose was funny. That mob guy "STOP" or "SHUT UP" (can't remember which he said). Then he said "they have to believe you'll actually hurt them. Then later House tries it. haha
As far as the vicodin goes... I think it's a natural progression for his character as opposed to being a cop out. He started the vicodin because of his pain. Then realized he was addicted to it but said 'it wasn't a problem'. Now he doesn't need it at all medically but he is still addicted. I believe most addicts with access to a prescription pad would do the exact same thing.
I'm still a bit unhappy with the season finale. Artistically it was interesting and a mini mind-trip. But at the end of the show you realize that technically nothing happened throughout the whole episode except he got shot and hallucinated. Everything else you watched wasn't real, almost like a waste of time. Almost. It was interesting, I'll admit. Then on the first episode this season you realize he did actually get the ketamine that he was hallucinating about. But we know absolutely nothing about the shooter. Was he hallucinating about the right guy (as in he did recognize him?) or just creating a persona for him in his head? All we got about him was Cameron's one line asking if they know anything about the shooter yet.
I was crazy about this episode either, but I'm just thrilled the show is back on. I have hope for the rest of the season.
Yes, Joel Grey was in the previews for next week.
I'm super happy--this week's episode addressed almost all of the issues I had with the season premiere. Wilson got his, Cuddy was in it and BRILLIANT, and Chase told a "your mama" joke. Utter perfection.
Plus...Cameron is even LESS annoying than she was last season! At this rate she'll be a normal character by the end of the show's run

sad that the treatment on House's leg didn't work. And I knew he had a twin in him. As soon as he said that he felt something between his ribs, I thought of it. Cause Grey's Anatomy did something similar. But I didn't realize it was just brain cells that were in him. but it was a good episode.

Yeah, I was wondering about the chip too, but I think it did come from his arm and it did travel up to his neck. No idea how though.

See, I'm still conflicted about Cameron. She's annoyed me so much in the past- especially the way she was pushed as a love interest for House- that now, even when she acts like a good character, I'm suspicious that they're just trying to make her look like a good potential girlfriend again. And really, couldn't it have been anyone else who discovered the truth about the last patient? It would have been interesting if it was Chase and downright fascinating if it was Foreman.
However, I will give Jennifer Morrison props for her little "Oh!" when the patient says he wants a bucketload of Viagra. :) Also, yay writers for sticking in the "cunning plan" line. Okay, so it was kind of awkward, but Blackadder reference ahoy!
Normally I'm all about the older three characters rather than the younger three, so with House floundering and Wilson dragging Cuddy along in his scheme of idiocy I'm not too happy. (Oh, and Wilson is a moron. House obviously has an ego problem, but who goes about solving that by lying to the man whose motto is "everybody lies"? Way to build on the trust you have as his only friend. )
ETA- Oh, and hooray for the return of Nurse Brenda! Evil never sounded so funny. And did anyone notice how the director kept Cuddy's chest in the frame all the time in the parking garage scene? For the longest time we had a shot of House's face...and part of a boob. Weird.

there was a blackadder reference???? And I missed it??
*spoilers*
I did get the Wicked reference though when he said "Don't pay attention to the man behind the green curtain" to Joel Grey. It was hilarious!
and what do you think about that girl? she does not look 6 months shy of 18. and House is like late 40s (Hugh Laurie is 50-something)
I think this season is going to be a good one.
oh, and do you think Cuddy is pregnant?
I loved this past week's episode. It's going to be a very sad day for me in some respects when Veronica Mars comes back. They are my two favorite dramas...it bleeds my heart that I have to choose between which one to watch and which to TiVo.
Of course, given their past ratings, VM might not be around for too long. *sigh*
I believe the Wicked reference is due to the fact that Joel Grey originated the role of the Wizard in Wicked.
As for the Blackadder reference, the only one I'm aware of is in one episode (I forget which one, but it was one when Wilson was rooming with House) there's a brief shot of the programs House has TiVo'd and one of them was Blackadder.
House is in his early 40s - he's not that old! (in the second season finale, there was a brief shot of his hospital bracelet, and it had his birthday, and the year was 1960-something)
Next week House is going to be about a child with autism. I will be recording that one.
