George has to do the bounce again this week. The judges got all over him last week for not showing "his true self" or whatever Paula and Randy said. So I expect him to bounce away to Barry tonight, unless he chooses Mandy. I think the bounce wouldn't work with that song. And Mandy might be too close to last week's Against All Odds.

Oh, please, Michelleruth, you know what that snively, obnoxious closet case with the nasty 1980s hairdo will do. The great sucking sound you hear will be Cowell's lips on Barry's butt. My only question about Simon is if he washes that black t-shirt or if he's like the rest of his countrymen and wears the same stinky clothes over and over.

My other question is WHO WILL BOTTOM FOR US TONIGHT?

If the voting made any sense, big red would go tomorrow, but we all know the voting doesn't make sense. As Simon said, the kid just doesn't have it. I knew he'd sing Manny (too bad Manilow couldn't leave that as the name). Anyway, Manilow's songs especially call for a big strong belt, as we saw with every other kid tonight. That redhead has no strength in his voice. His range sounds like less than an octave. OY!

My review (1 being best):

1. Jennifer Hudson -- we are getting the performances we had hoped to see from Frenchie!!
2. Fantastia -- fierce, but not her best
3. Latoya -- gorgeous, but a little boring tonight
4. Diana -- best yet--deserves a career with more improvement
5. Jazmin -- like Diana--needs more time to grow and learn
6. George Huff -- poor tonight, starting to REALLY hate the frog in his throat
7. Jon Stevens -- PLEASE LET HIM BE GONE TONIGHT!!

This was actually the first show this season that I ENJOYED!!!! I thought the gals did a great job!! I had forgotten some of the songs were Barry's (like "One Voice"). The "chill" factor was definitely working on me last night (if I get chills, I know it's a good song!).

I agree that John Stevens must go!!!!!!!

JRB, you nailed it. I'm with you on all evaluations. I think the songs chosen were odd, with most of the women (Jennifer the excedption) picking lesser melodies. Fantasia, still our frontrunner, clearly had no interest in Manilow's sound, and just did her own. She can raise the roof, but I would've liked her to use her Natalie Cole approach rather than the scream n'shout. But George's escalating problems are odd and self-destructive. You singers who post, tell us: What is it? The wrong key? The low sounds all seem stuck in his throat, as if he's suddenly got no technique, not enough breath to support them. As said on the show, he's not experienced enough to embellish these melodies -- which, love him or hate him, are Barry's strength -- and his efforts to embroider notes are painful.

This has been a lousy year for men; none of them were contenders, and look at the two we're down to. Last year, they wouldn't have come close to being in the top 12. I still think it's Fantasia's to lose, but Jennifer could be the wild card.

I agree with JRB and the rest of you on last night's show, except for Diana. I don't think she is going to hang on for long and wouldn't be surprised to see her go tonight. John should be gone, but he should have been gone weeks ago. Of the remaining singers, she has been in the bottom more than anyone else. But in today's MSN poll, John got 75% of the vote of who people thought should go tonight.

Simon's decided that it's LaToya's to win and he told her so last night. She's good. I like her, Jennifer and Fantasia, but Fantasia only seems to have the one style, and it's a little too "screamy" for my taste. I can't think of when I heard her actually sing a melody. I say it's between Jennifer and Latoya.

Jane: I agree with you about Fantasia's prediliction for screaming. With pipes like that, she doesn't need to resort to vocal trickery. Having just listened to Natalie Cole again for the first time in a coupla years, I was taken by how Fantasia sometimes approaches vintage Cole, in timber and even phrasing. And to be fair, Fantasia gave a truly soulful rendition of "Summertime" that took risks without being trick-laden. Sometimes, when I see such talent, I want to say: just sing the song. But then, I feel they should all be required to listen to Natalie, Ella F., Rosemary C, and Gladys Knight (all wildly different) to learn the power of a lyric and melody combo, cleanly delivered. On that score, LaToya consistently has the most reverence for the songwriter's achievements.

"THIS SHOW IS RIGGED. That result was disgusting."

I agree! I thought it was a joke when they told George to go to the top group, and he went to the one with the most talent!! This thing is so rigged! Why isn't Jon gone????? Ugh!!!! I'm so mad!
