Metro is the free daily paper, and I sent in a letter to the editor in response to a man's letter to the editor.
And, they are considering publishing my letter!
The man was responding to an editorial regarding the government's trying to curb homosexual content on PBS.
He essentially claimed that since homosexuals were not the majority, that the government had every right to curb homosexual content on PBS to reflect the feelings of the majority--in a nut shell that's what he said.
So, await my response!
If they don't publish it, I will post it here, if anyone cares.

Letters to the editor- the only way my writing will ever be published. :)
Here's hoping they fit your letter in, jrb.

Jerby, I almost wrote a letter in response to that idiot too! I'm glad someone did and I hope they publish it!

sorry for being ignorant but how do I see the original letter?
I saw that damned letter! Good job for writing a response!
haven't seen the Metro yet to know if I made it, but here is the letter I responded to:
MOST OF U.S. IS NOT GAY
Nathan Goulding
Manhattan
Regarding "Conservatives put big chill over PBS content" (July 29): Lewis needs to know that 94 percent to 98 percent of the U.S. population is not homosexual. I would venture to guess that a large number of these people would be vehemently offended by gay content on public television. While Lewis might take umbrage at this, it is nonetheless a fact that must be recognized, if not respected. It seems an irrational claim, unfounded at best, to rope the Bush administration into this simply because one of PBS' officers is editing content for sensitivity to "all segments of society."
****ing bigot! And the Bush admin is most certainly involved.
Hey, J,
You unfortunately didn't make it into today's Metro. I looked. Care to post it for us here? I'd love to see what you wrote and compare it to what they did publish (one of which was rather short).
Get 'im jrb!!!
oh well. or maybe it's in tomorrow's. The email I got was not a promise, nor said when.

Nathan Goulding was absolutely correct when he stated that the government should curb representations of homosexuals since they aren't the majority. But we shouldn't stop there! There is other content on PBS that should be curbed: representations of African Americans, the Jewish faith, and muppets. They aren't the majority either.
Good for you! Next you might try your hand at a letter to the Post--they need more letters from liberals.
Ha!

I'd say that letter has a good chance of being published- it's pithy, which is what editors are always looking for. Nicely done.
No, it's true. One day, this country's majority will be Hispanic. So, jerks better watch it with the majority/minority talk! :)
So I just read the responses they did publish--and they were better than mine. They really ripped his letter to shreds.
We shall overcome!
And, maybe they will put mine in tomorrow? It's cool if they don't. :)

Great letter JRB! You know it is a bad situation when they show too many Muppet episodes on PBS. What is this world coming to?
*guess who's in the Metro today, do da...do da...*
Congrats, Jerby! It's in!
