I loved every minute of it. It was such a great movie, I really enjoyed it. Robert Downey Jr plays the role of Tony Stark to perfection. He's both comedic and dramatic in the role. The rest of the cast is equally terrific. Look for a cameo from Stan Lee as a guy that Tony mistakes for Hugh Hefner. Also, stay for the credits there is a scene at the end of the credits with the long rumored but now confirmed cameo of Samuel L. Jackson as the eye patch wearing member of SHIELD, Nick Fury who talks to Stark about this thing called the Avengers.
Also, the trailers that played before Iron Man were The Incredible Hulk(new one), The Dark Knight(new one), You Don't Mess With The Zohan(looks like crap), The Love Guru(looks like crap), The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, and Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull(new one).

Sounds interesting. Boring trailers, though. I'm still waiting on a HP6 trailer...
I also just got back from a showing and agree that it was INCREDIBLE. SUCH a fun ride. Tony Stark is infectiously hedonistic, and his crazily fun style of living is reflected in the film.

The final line of the movie was just perfect.
I thought it was good but not great. Robert Downey Jr. is quite a leading man though, I really hope this film gets him back on the household name track. He is fantastic in this film, sexy as can be, extremely witty and original, and quite believable in the role of Tony Stark. He just possesses the kind of screen charisma that the likes of Tom Cruise have run out of. And does anyone think he looks like Javier Bardem's lost twin brother? They look identical to me. (Um, have we found our next Guido Contini now that Bardem is no longer attached to the film? ).
Gwyneth Paltrow sorta ruined the film for me though. It was partly her 1950s housewive-based role, and partly her inability to play anyone else other than herself. I can't stand her "acting" and to this day I can't see how she beat Cate Blanchett for an Oscar.
The film was a bit formulaic. I saw the bad guy thing coming from basically the first scene, and I had never seen the TV cartoons or read the comic books. The ending was great though! It easily made me forget about the parts I strongly disliked. It was a great line and Robert Downey Jr.'s acting just made it even better.

Agreed but it wasn't as bad as I had feared.

By the way...
This film LAUNCHES the summer movie season!
Bring on The Dark Knight!
I saw the movie last night. One of the best comic book -based movies in years. Robert Downey Jr. was outstanding and exudes charisma for the entire movie. I LOVED the last line of the film. Gwynneth Paltrow was serviceable, but nothing more. Terrence Howard was also good.
SPOILER:
I thought we were going to have another Iron Man, when near the end Terrence Howard's character is in Stark's lab and glances at Stark's silver suit, and seems to consider using it. Then he seems to shake it off and says "next time baby" or something like that.
worrell, WHY would you tell people to stay through the credits for an extra scene and then give away EVERY SINGLE detail of said scene in the same sentence? I loved waiting around for it, and was very happy with it, but those who haven't have now been screwed by your stupidity.
I saw it last night...and hated it.
"By the way...
This film LAUNCHES the summer movie season!"
Considering Summer doesn't officially begin until June 21st, I don't think so.

The next one. In the comics, Tony Stark develops alcoholism and the Rhodes takes over as War Machine. It was said that in the sequel they would start with that storyline. Terrence Howard was apparently picked to play Rhodes because the director saw him as War Machine.

I did that to confirm the scene was still in. There had been many reports that said that it was in and some that said it wasn't, so this was me confirming the scene was still in, but hey let me apologize for giving away that scene that basically every internet ready comic geek has heard about but didn't know was actually in the movie.
It was good and it was one of the best comic book movies of all time, but the best comes out July 18th.

I really hope this opens doors for Robert Downey, Jr. He's been doing brilliant character work in little-seen movies for so long. I've loved him ever since THE PICK-UP ARTIST.
It opened at over 100 million.
Downey is now gold.
Glad it was good.
I'm really looking forward to this. I usually dislike this type of movie, but I'm in love with Robert Downey Jr., and it's been getting tremendous reviews.
It's already #159 on IMBD Top 250, with a rating of 8.4.

Robert Downey Jr. is truly fantastic in this film, he carries the movie so well. I am still shocked at how much he looks like Javier Bardem. I would love it if he got cast in NINE.
I'm glad to hear this movie was good. I was hoping to see it this weekend but didn't get the chance. Next weekend I'll see it for sure.
Wow, 100 million is a great opening for this film. This should definetly put Robert Downey Jr. back on the A-list. I think we can now assume that a sequel will be greenlit.

I had a fun time during the movie, but it's nothing new. Robert Downey Jr. made the film for sure. Regularly superhero movies are a bore but this was a bit more interesting. I can guarantee The Dark Knight will be better though.
Just got back from it...I really enjoyed myself.
I think it's the best superhero movie since and possibly including Spider-Man 2. I thought Downey Jr. was absolutely fantastic. He gave one of my favorite performances in a film so far this year. He was really funny, really natural, and just great. I also particularly liked Paltrow...I thought this was her most accomplished performance in a while, to be honest. The special effects are really impressive, the action scenes will keep you on the edge of your seat, and the direction is very nice. The scene after the credits was really smart. Go see it...it's a great way to kick off the summer. Finally, a smart "blockbuster" that's really worth your $11.
B+
I thought it was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
