Bush has about five sound bites memorized and keeps trying to get them into every answer.
Kerry is a strong debater, an intelligent man, and clearly a strong leader. Vote Kerry.
"Bush has about five sound bites memorized and keeps trying to get them into every answer..."
I noticed that. Look at his face, he looks like a dope.

Bush didn't do great, but how can you not think that Kerry was answering the same thing either? I've heard him say it before- a lot.
It goes both ways.

I agree. This one was close, but I feel Kerry was a much stronger debater.

kerry repeated himself every five minutes.
Kerry... hands down. Bush is downright inept!
But Bush used alot of the same phrasing over and over again.
That's what was damaging.
Kerry is certainly no dynamo and could have been much stronger, but how can you watch those two men and honestly say that you would rather Bush be your President? He's such an embarrasment!

While Bush did not focus on what he SHOULD have, Kerry was not brilliant and I feel, did not have those moments where everyone is speechless.
Kerry kept himself alive. But he didn't make the extra push yet. I don't think that he will either. The most he can do is keep himself from fading out of the election.

ABC News:
Supporters:
Bush 50% before
Bush 51% after debate
Kerry was in the high 40s before and after debate.
But according to the poll, Kerry won, and 17% believed it was a tie.
Ask youself this: Who would you want representing you in a sensitive negotiation with an enemy? Are we safer with Kerry or Bush?

Why the hell are they polling this early? Poll on the debate, fine, but polling on who they are supporting?
Give it a week, that's what America really thinks.
I agree...who are these people they're polling?
I mean...we're all sitting at our computers and yet didn't know we should be polled.
As for the polls... give it a day. I'll bet Kerry gets a bump.
I guess they don't care what BWW thinks...
Those were the percentages...I think they said something about "who was supporting" but I was too busy trying to read numbers to post that I didn't catch every detail. This is ABC news with Peter Jennings.
The 10 second pauses wher Bush looked down at his podium at a loss for words were what determined Kerry's victory for me, but everyone knows that Bush is a weak speaker. this result was expected for the most part. He suffers in the debates.

Guen, I didn't even watch the debate (couldn't), but I tend to believe your take on it. Unless he underwent a personality transplant (or dialysis, for you Wicked fans), Kerry won't overwhelmingly win a debate, at least not one in the current style.
I find it easy to believe that Bush looked like a sound-bite-spouting fool, too, for some odd reason.

Plum, I will be honest and non-partisan when I say this (I'll try anyway! )-
Bush had many brilliant points, they were lost in his sighs and interruptions, and his awkward pauses (which I believe will work against him). The average viewer who turns on the television will notice that Kerry is for the most part, calm, while Bush tended to interrupt statements.
Now, in terms of what was said, even though Bush did do what he usually does when it comes to public speaking, there were some gems in what he said- but of course liberals wouldn't see those.
I felt that if he had stayed more composed, it would be a tougher call. Kerry is still alive- but he was not impressive, in my eyes.

I do agree with you LadyG, wow that's odd, his pauses were his huge weakness here. If he wants to perform well in any of the next debates he needs to improve.
'but of course liberals wouldn't see those.'
'but he was not impressive, in my eyes.'
so you're just as guilty as liberals of putting on party blinders. nice to admit it.

I'm sorry, but some people on this board do NOT like to admit when they're wrong!
No one is right 100% on the time. But so many of the members on this board are simply blinded by the left rhetoric.
And I already admitted what Kerry did right- I even think that his composure alone helped him win this debate. But I don't agree with the arguments he made, but he stated his beliefs very well, which wins points alone.
