Okay, let's split hairs then. Narrow-minded liberals will never see anything good about Bush. It is an important hair to split, I think. :)
Once upon a time I saw one good thing about Bush. That was a long long time ago.

Bush proved once again that too much booze and coke have destroyed whatever there once was of his brain.
It's really pathetic that we have someone so inarticulate and wrongheaded as our president. He has destroyed our economy, our reputation among nations, our very safety and the safety of the world.
Let's get him out of there on November 2 and elect an honest, intelligent and brave man: John F. Kerry.

John Kerry does not even deserve to share the initials of John F. Kennedy. To me, it'll always be "John Kerry," never "John F. Kerry."

Kerry hands down! Bush was definitely on the defensive. And he didn't look too happy...the frown lines in the forehead got deeper and deeper as the debate went on.
Kerry won quite easily.
Oh, and Lady G. the gay republican journalist Andrew Sullivan said about George W. Bush:
"[President Bush] made it clear that discriminating against
gay people, keeping them from full civic dignity and
equality, is now a core value for him and his party. The
opposite is a core value for me. Some things you can trade
away. Some things you can compromise on. Some things you can
give any politician a pass on. But there are other values --
of basic human dignity and equality -- that cannot be
sacrificed without losing your integrity itself. That's why,
despite my deep admiration for some of what this president
has done to defeat terror, and my affection for him as a
human being, I cannot support his candidacy. ... I would be
betraying the people I love."
Any comment? As a lesbian, how do you feel about betraying the people you love?
Lady G said: "John Kerry does not even deserve to share the initials of John F. Kennedy."
George Bush doesn't deserve to share the name George with the Father of this Country.
He doesn't even deserve to share that name with his OWN father.
He barely deserves to share that name with George Costanza!

Oh boy, wait, is it going around the board that I'm a lesbian?
Where did THAT come from?
Did it bother anyone else that all Bush referred to Kerry as is "my opponent." Even though I won't vote for Bush, this has nothing to do with it at the moment. It just got redundant and annoying. That is, unless I am naive and thatgs what canidates always refer to each other as.
Ooops my mistake, Sorry Lady G. You're just a bigot.

Both candidates repeated themselves. There is no point debating who did it more. The fact is they both had a few key points that they were driven to press into us time and time again. That is how polictics works. While I feel that Kerry was better in the "debate" I think both men were very redundant. I hope in the future debates we can branch out a bit. I also think it was hysterical how Bush kept making faces while Kerry was speaking. I felt as if I were watching a little kid. I kept waiting for him to burst out with "nuh uh". I also though those notes he kept taking probably said" Kerry is a stupidhead" or consisted of doodles of hearts and flowers! But that was probably just what I had to imagine to keep myself entertained by this incredibly boring debate. I also thought it was funny that during the split screen they lowered Kerry's podium shot so that the men appeared to be equal height. I think we can all agree that no one learned anything new about either candidate here.
Hopefully the next debate - which is in my home town of st. louis by the way - will be more enlightening. Doubtful though.
Bush was an embarrassment tonight, even for him. There's no doubt Kerry won the debate tonight. Poll results:
CBS
John Kerry:
91.35%
President Bush:
7.91%
Neither man. It was a draw :
0.74%

Think of the repetitiveness as themes in a musical. You know the ones that the composer wants to get stuck in your head? I'll call Kerry Richard Rodgers and Bush ALW. :)

I think my favorite part of the evening was when Kerry used the word 'nuclear' about 25 times in one of his two minute answers, and Bush used the word once in his rebuttal - using every ounce of concentration he has to try and avoid it.
Was anyone else shocked by Kerry's use of the word "genocide"?

"The Sudanese minister said the expanded force would have a stronger mandate than the current observers, but gave few details. His comments came on a day when the Secretary General's [of the UN] top adviser on the prevention of genocide told the Security Council war crimes have probably taken place on a large and systematic scale in Darfur." - Voice of America News
~FF~ Given that this is the current state of affairs being reported - in these words - I'm not sure why it would be surprising that Kerry referred to Darfur in that manner.
The candidates have to repeat things for two reasons:
1. to drive the message home
2. because only short clips will be shown later that night and the next day.
DGrant - I'm not saying that his usage of it was incorrect. I'm surprised by it because politicians have been avoiding that word for so many years due to the possible connotation.

political views aside, Kerry walked away with the debate. he was poised, well spoken, well mannered, completely prepared, and handled the situation VERY well. Bush slouched, looked annoyed, bored, was giving idiotic reactions while Kerry spoke, he had NOTHINga t all to say, he stuttered and stumbled at every turn, BUSH went over the time limit.. Kerry never did.. and Bush would ask for more time and then say nothing.
