They are huge in England and are about to become huge here. Touring with U2 certainly won't hurt either.

I just bought it. Love iTunes--can buy an album at midnight it's released!

I was in the gym a week or so ago and heard this music coming from the TVs and stopped midworkout to see exactly who the band was. It was "Knights of Cydonia", and I was instantly hooked.

you HAVE to get their album "Absolution." In my opinion, it is their best and most epic.

lol at Namo, i was checking this thread as i knew he would have to mention Madonna at some point, but the context in which he mentioned her was fantastic.....stupid but fantastic

You thought the Lady Gaga's performance was creative, performance art etc, yet she openly admits that she takes inspiration from Madonna.
You also seem to forget that without Madonna and her antics on other MTV shows as far back as the Like A Virgin performance there would not be a quater of the outrageous OTT performances that there is now.

I happen to hate Lady Gaga, yet quite like her music, i agree that i like the fact she turns every moment in to a performance, yet she does not know where to stop. The MTV performance was horrid, she sounded good but the costume, choreograpy and shock factor were naff. Also there was a band here in the UK who did a similar performance years ago, the theme was about the Papparazi and the theme was they been pieces of meat and ended with all 4 band members raised in to the air on what looked (but wasnt lol) meathooks. The woman has made such and aggresive start to her career that i think shes gonna have a hard job keeping people intrested.

I thought Pink did great and the Circus theme was straight from her tour, i think hers was the performance of the night.
I also don't think at all that Madonna made that speach about her, you must have missed the point totally (or maybee through your hatred towards her just chose not to see)

This is 2 people who were known as the king and queen of pop, both have similar paralels in their lives and in the industry, it was about her saying that even though she had been through hell with people, she felt he had it worse, i thought some of the things she said were bang on the money. Shockingly the press seem to have loved the speech as well which makes a change.

Im not gonna say anything about West as we all know he is a grade A idiot

Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

I love the Muse love in here :) I've loved them for years, and saw them the other week at their homecoming 'Seaside Rendevous' gig in Devon. AMAZING.

I caved and watched this on MTV UK last night, wanting to see what all of the fuss was about.

I like Lady Gaga's music (sort of) but hate her, and hated her performance on the VMA's. I saw Pink do some of her trapeze work on tour and LOVED it, so naturally I love that she did that on the VMAs, but it didn't come off as well on tv as it does live.

As for Kanye. Ick. How rude and totally repulsive. And he picked the worst person to do it to as well, because Taylor Swift isn't Miley Cyrus or Britney, she's country and almost sweet compared to them. So like whoever said in their twitter - it was like he'd gone up there and kicked a puppy.

I liked the Michael Jackson tribute, although there was one guy in one of the sections who couldn't do the lean move and was just bending over... I liked seeing Janet dance 'with' Michael, hated that she mimed though.

What is it about Taylor's music that makes it country? I saw her on the View today singing two songs and they sounded like pop ballads.

^ I agree.

I mean, who else is there? Katy Perry?!

She is surrounded by gay men and she never fails to show the gays her respect for their support. 'Thank God and the Gay's!'.

You might think her saying that is hardly a big deal, but come on - who else on that level of stardom openly associates themselves with the gay community nowadays let alone praises them? Few.

Saw in the press today that organizations are pulling her up on romanticizing suicide by stabbing and hanging herself. Nice to see they were paying attention...
