Kanye's an ass. I like some of his music, but I've had it with his diva-ish behavior. Interrupting Taylor's speech was completely out of line.

On the plus side, I liked Lady GaGa and Green Day's performance, and I actually didn't mind Russell Brand.

That apology sounded word for word as if it were being said while rolling one's eyes.

I thought Lady Gaga googoo, with those hideous costume changes, looked as if she/he were at the height of desperation for attention. Same with Pink, who had to resort to doing Cirque du Soleil for attention.

OK -- so a friend of mine has suggested that the whole thing was scripted. I don't see why Kanye "I AM GOD" West would agree to participate in something that would make him look like such an utter assh*le. Anyone see that as anything like a possibility?

I DO NOT see how any producer, no matter how desperate for ratings, would agree to completely ruin an artist's moment like that. If it was indeed scripted, shame on all involved. Including Kanboo West and Taylor.

I think that if it was staged, there would have all ready been an announcement since it is getting SERIOUS backlash for Kanye.

"Plus, whoever suggested it - I really doubt they'd try and stage that"

Okay, so maybe it wasn't scripted, but did you ever think MTV could have also provided him with the alcohol that caused him to make the crazy outburst? Knowing that there was a possibility that he could do something stupid, especially if they knew his personality? And who knows what Kanye agreed to do or if he was paid to do something. I don't know what happened exactly, but the entire situation is getting a lot of attention for MTV, which makes me think that MTV could have had involvement, albeit minor, in the incident.

I didn't watch the show, but I did just watch the video. I agree with you Jane. It's just completely tacky that a producer of any sort would encourage that behavior. If so, I hope that person is getting in trouble.

Definitely. I think they also stood there and watched to make sure he drank enough drinks.

I don't think it was the alcohol. The man is a douche through and through.

If it were staged, what would be the reason to humilate both Taylor Swift and Beyonce like that? Neither one of them are good enough actresses to make me believe they knew this was going to happen.

Ditto to PRS.

Taylor Swift seems like a nice young girl, and from what I read, was crying backstage after this happened. I am sure MTV approached the two after the incident, but not even I am cynical enough to believe this was staged.

Kanye is just a freaking douche.

And, for the record, the line about cheerleader and bleachers makes perfect sense to those of us who watched many a school sporting events from the bleachers.

ETA: BTW - somewhere in NY, Serena Williams is sending a thank you note to Kanye. Updated On: 9/14/09 at 10:28 AM

YouWantIt, I thought the same thing! Serena referred to the incident when she spoke and it sounded like a few people caught on but Kanye has overshadowed her incident. She will pay her fine and move on. I think the fine was $10,000.00.

"I don't think it was the alcohol."

Well, he did admit to having a "little sippy sippy," so I think a combination of that and his idiotic attitude, caused him to act in the manner he did.

Who cares if MTV did provide him alcohol? A lot of events like that serve alcohol to the audience and celebs. Alcohol is no excuse to act like an ass. There is no way it was staged. Taylor and Beyonce's reactions were to real to be fake. Taylor looked like she wanted to cry. I don't think he was drunk personally. He didn't seem like it and he has acted like a douche bag time and time again with out being drunk. I think someone with that much anger should stay away from alcohol period.

I was there last night--

Taylor looked like she was in SHOCK after the Kanye incident. She walked right underneath me (I was standing on the cage looking thing on stage left where presenters sometimes came out of (P-Diddy, Eminem, Justin Beiber)--and the audience was SCREAMING for Taylor after the incident, but it looked like she was completely out of it after he did that to her.

Something exciting--I was able to see performers setting up (was pretty cool), and when PINK was setting up, she looked in my direction (since there was a gate type thing blocking the rest of the audience from seeing her), and I through a fist up (as to say "Rock on!") and she threw a fist back up at me! from his blog Ah, it was a good night for that reason alone! And then her performance was INCREDIBLE! I cannot wait to see her in October!

Are you drunk? I don't see anything like that.

Not to mention I refuse that every other instance of his asshattery was because he was drinking.

Honestly, though, a little sympathy goes a long way, so Taylor Swift will probably benefit from this in the long run.

More asshattery?

You are absolutely right about the alcohol. And if he did drink, it certainly did not help his attitude.

Kanye is actually singing with Jay Z and Rhianna on the show tonight. Wonder if they will even interview him.
