Ok, so for those of you who, like me, are nostalgia buffs and refuse to part with their childhoods....
According to a press release from Bandai, ABC Kids (their Saturday Morning block) will be airing the ORIGINAL 1994 Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers starting in January.
They are also releasing new toys.
Oh, Billy...I thought he was the cutest when I was in high school
I loved the Power Rangers when I was younger! I actually dressed up as the yellow ranger when I was in the first grade!
And for anyone who is interested (and is a big anime fan like me ), the man who played Adam, the second Black Power Ranger who replaced Zack Taylor, does a lot, and I mean A LOT of voice over work. But he is excellent! He's a great actor and I didn't figure out he was the second black Ranger until looking at his bio. Also, it's been a while since I've even laid eyes on the show or even remember most of the characters. His voice is fairly recognizable in the shows that he does, but he's been doing great with his voice over work. He's been in shows such as Trigun ( Vash) and Bleach ( Ichigo). And he did the Funimation dub for Kaneda in Akira.
Akira- Kaneda
Bleach- Ichigo
Trigun- Vash

Lol, it's funny you say that I<3Bway, because I definitely just wrote a "scholarly" 3 page paper for my film class, about the movie and discussed how he was one of the worst actors in the film...as evidenced by the total of 12 lines he gets.
I def. torrented the original show this summer and re-watched. Some of it still holds up. Some of it is dreck. All of it worth re-watching again and again.

As some of you may know a few weeks ago I was at a Flea Market & found something.
I now own the White Tiger Zord...
It was only $1. I also have a movie throw blanket that I use for a window curtain. I love Power Rangers & not ashamed to admit.
I've even a purple Power Rangers shirt.

^ Jealous.
I'm still pissed off that my parents sold all of my toys for $30 in a garage sale.

You don't have to be Husk! They are making the megazords too!!!

I am SO getting it for Christmas!!
Who was the crazy b*tch who was the evil witch in the first few seasons?! Her parts were always overdubbed and she had this crazy high-camp abode she stalked around in. She was so over the top. That was always my favorite part, but they killed her off in the pink goo part of the film that followed the 2nd season. The Gnarly Knight was my favorite villain. The Green Ranger should have never been killed off! WTF was THAT about?
P
Rotten Rita or something like that? The Green Ranger came back as the White Ranger unless we're talking about a different green ranger

Ugh, I wanted the megazord SO BAD as a kid. I had Power Rangers action figures, but what fun are they without their dinozords?
And also I wanted the brachiosaurus carrier thingy. Titanis? Something like that?

Rita Repulsa!!!
All of the show was dubbed except for the parts with the humans.
Tommy and Kimberley were like my kid-friendly version Brenda and Dylan. I <3 Tommy, green or white... or even Red Ninja (looking at the wikipedia page for a character he had even more identities than I realized). Weird looking back as I now find guys with ponytails creepy.
I may still have every Ranger figure and 'ride' toys from McDonalds happy meals that I think came out when the first movie was out.
I was in Tae Kwan Do at the time so a show that also involved martial arts with kickass guys and girls was awesome.

TheatreFan-
Definitely saw those in both Target and Walmart today. Well, some of it. We found the Rangers, Alpha 5 and Zordon, Goldar, Putty, the Dragon Dagger, the Gun/Sword/Knife Thingy, something that was a morpher of sorts...and some sort of motorcycle thing.
I am VERY curious to see what all is coming out. And, I promise now, I WILL have a new power morpher with the Pterodactyl.

If it makes you feel better, TheatreFan, I handed my friend my wallet and said "Hold this until we leave."
Apart of me thinks Rita Repulsa was modeled after the wicked witch of the west. I demand her story is told before those power rangers ever showed up. Call up Stephen Schwartz!
She actually reminds me of the witch from Sleeping Beauty. Well the head piece part of it anyways.
I loved the later season where Rita married Lord Zed. It was so random and funny.
As a girl, I only had the (super-fugly) Kimberly Barbie-esque doll, not any of the action figures.
Never got the Kimberley doll or any doll except action figures that are somewhere in my younger cousin's room in Florida but I was Kimberley for one Halloween.

so I met Johnny Yong Bosch several years ago at San Diego State when I worked summer conferences... his Christian youth group stayed in the dorms for a few weeks... i met him through one of the attendees who would chat with me at the front desk... he's a nice guy... funny when I talked to him about that kid Justin that replaced Rocky in Power Ranger Turbo.. he just gave me this look that was hilarious... he pretty much said, uh yeah we didn't care for that kid!! haha...

Now THOSE are the Power Rangers. They're not police officers, or dinosaurs, or animals, or whatever the hell the newest series is now.
Lmao, I'm having flashbacks to the playground, playing Power Rangers. I was ALWAYS Kimberly. I may have made my Japanese friend always be Trini, but I don't remember, LOL.

^ I was always Kimberly because I was the small one in the group, and the only girl who hung out with us hated pink.

I was always Zack, because we didn't have any black people in the suburbs.
