Is anyone upset for Plushenko? Where's that one poster who loves him?
For the record, it's not that I REALLY love Plushenko...I just don't like Evan Lysacek...Such a douche bag!!!
Perhaps this gold will give him the courage to stop dating the girls!
I am so happy for Evan. It was a brilliant free skate and he absolutely deserved this award. For him to have a tight warm-up, go first in the final group, and still do as perfectly as he did - simply incredible.
While Plushenko was the only man to land a quad, his choreography/artistry just wasn't as difficult/beautiful to watch as Evan's. The judges made the right decision.
I am now happy that the scoring system was changed...not sure if Evan would have pulled through with the old scoring system (and biased judges). It is better to have to earn points this way, rather than losing points from a 6.0 with the old system.
Congratulations to Evan Lysacek, 2010 Olympic Gold Medalist!
Stockard, You mean Evgeny, right?
Miss P, despite the fact that Plushy is extremely homely, he has sex appeal. Proving, sex appeal really doesn't have anything to do with looks. Plenty of gorgeous people have no sex appeal.
^ haha, that's what I love about you!
I've had one (or two) glasses of wine too many. I'm clueless and going to bed!
Now that Evan has won he'll be pursuing entertainment! I hope you all will come to see him as Billy Flynn in "Chicago"!
I am just so happy for the top3. A fantastic, exciting Olympics final since 02.
Thank you, Yevgeni, for coming back and making this final sooo much more exciting to watch. What a drama!
Thank you, Takahashi, a great great result after a terrible injury and a tough season.
Congratulations Evan! A well deserved title.
Wow, in 06, who could imagine that four years later it was Evan who is on the top of the world. Evan was never my favorite skater until two years ago. In 06, 07, he was so raw. The jump was not consistent. The artistry barely existed. He got this energy but did not know how to use it. Comparing to Weir who was absolutely full of grace on ice then, he was just awkward. I still recalled how he tried to land Quad for 08 yet failed every time. It almost cost his national title. However, he just did not give up. He fought back in his footwork with the last thread of energy to beat Weir with the closest game in history. I think it was at that moment that I started to like him.
09 he finally won Worlds. And now the Olympics. There is no other skater other than Evan that I can say that I watched how he grew up in front of me. From every competition, I can tell that he never stopped working hard and improving himself. Better jumping skill, better footwork, better artistry. Bit by bit, step by step.
Evan admitted that he did not have the talent like other top skaters, but he said he had the heart. Yes, Evan, you do. A true Olympic Champions heart
I loved that interview with Plushenko. He was very smiley and personable. Good for you, Evgeny!
He already got the gold. It's an amazing achievement to get silver after leaving the game for so long.
I didn't see it.
But I completely agree with you, Jane. Sex-appeal is not really definable. I have found people sexy that no one (in their right minds) would have! In fact, there are many "classically" good-looking people that I think have zero sex-appeal. It's like art. It either speaks to you or it doesn't, right?
Evan was fantastic! It was my first time tuning into the Winter Olympics this year and I can't believe I haven't been watching already. Though, I have to admit, I loved Takahashi's routine, even the fall. So glad he got bronze!
Evan can do ONE thing that I would give him credit for and that is going to the World Championships!
I hate that now almost ALL the Olympic Champions (and sometimes the medalists) don't go on the the WC's!
2006 had none, 2002 had one, 1998 had none, 1994 had two, 1992 had all four, 1988 had all four, 1984 had all four, 1980 had three...
Wow. Let go of the hate. They're called the Olympic GAMES. Lighten up.
I'm Happy. What a nice surprise. Plushenko didn't seem too happy afterwards. He was smiley, but you knew he wasn't happy. And he was a bit fidgety on the podium.
Really....MTVMann, why do you hate Evan so much? I don't see any douche-i-ness at all about him?

Did you see what Elvis Stojko wrote?
The night they killed figure skating
I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the only thing Elvis had in his article that I agree with are his comments about Johnny Weir.
Stock, here's your answers:
"Perhaps this gold will give him the courage to stop dating the girls!"
I guess he believes Evan is closeted and is only bearding to hide his homosexuality. That may or may not be true, but until it's officially confirmed, it's mere speculation at this point. But clearly not a rational reason to hate on someone.
As for Elvin Stojko, can you say sour grapes? Just 'cause he was runner up both times, in 1994 and 1998.
"I hate that now almost ALL the Olympic Champions (and sometimes the medalists) don't go on the the WC's!

MTVMANN, that is one of the reasons I have absolutely no respect for both Tara Lipinski and Sarah Hughes. Good for them, they won the Olympic gold. I realize Tara won the World's in 1997, but both of them disappeared immediately after winning their respective Olympic Gold medals. That is why I love and respect Michele Kwan's tenacity.
I could care less if Evan is gay or straight.... He doesn't necessarily seem closeted to me, but what do I know. LOL!
As far as Elvis...I agree. Sour grapes much?
StockardFan, who's Victor (you mentioned him a couple of pages back)?
I was a tad tipsy, and I was thinking Plushenko's first name was Victor for some unknown reason.
Well Victor Patrenko was there last night. I can't remember if he's with Johnny Weir's team or Yvegeny Pleshenko's.
Victor PATRENKO! Thank you! That's why I thought his name was Victor!
Duh.
