I was watching pairs earlier, but then I went to the store and came back and cross country skiing was on so I switched the channel.
I watched most of the opening ceremony last night and thought it was very good.

I apologize if this has already been posted but the man responsible for the snowflake mishap last night during the opening ceremonies was found dead today in his hotel room with multiple stab wounds.
"Although his body was badly mangled and the wounds were consistent with a struggle, so far officials say they don't suspect foul play.
'Sure there were stab wounds and bruises all over the body,' admits the lead investigator on the case, “But who knows what caused them. Maybe he tripped and fell on a set of knives. Right now we’re ruling this an accidental death." "

LOL. That story is fake. The Daily Currant is a satirical website.

Well that's good to know. But I'm so sick of all these satire sites. There are just way to many of them now.

Yeah, they will wait until after the Olympics to kill him. They're not stupid.

The only thing keeping me interested in the fiqure skating is them playing Chicago and Liza in the background.

I think there may be some people who agree with you SNAFU. How about starting a thread for those who are NOT watching them? Thanks.

Thanks so much for your courtesy, SNAFU. really. rolling my eyes.
It wouldn't be a waste of bandwidth since you have lots of company.
Back to the games- WOW Yulia! That was spectacular!

The skating has been thrilling to watch.
I love many of the music selections tonight. (Especially 'Ave Maria'!)
And, congrats on the first USA Gold!

Anyone watch the team event in figure skating today? Davis and White were fantastic as were the Russian team.

I couldn't take my eyes off of White's hair. His hair alone should win a gold!

haha, I thought the same thing, art scallion. I'm tuned in today for more skating. I also enjoy watching the other sports, so I'm never bored. It seems, though, in the past they aired more video of background stories of the individual athletes. It made it more interesting for me. Have they been doing that this year? Maybe I just wasn't tuned in at the right times.

Was just flipping channels and couldn't help but stop when I heard the hideous and pathetic shouting/commentary from the cross country skiing commentator.

Was anyone watching the cross country skiing just now? How did you like that commentator who got so involved in it that he was yelling and screaming? I loved it!

Dotty, I hadn't read your post until I posted mine. I actually enjoyed the guy's enthusiasm.

uh oh, my current favorite, Jason Brown, against my all time favorite, Plushenko,
Brown', no match, I'm afraid, since he has no quad. But he's lovable.

I'm a cord-cutter and my digital box is on the fritz. I'm not buying a new one just for the Olympics. I haven't been following the events at all, but I always enjoy the ice skating events (solos and duets, men and women) -- any recommended videos to catch up with online? Any wow ice skating moments yet?

Jason Brown is my favorite male skater. Look out for him and his smile. His performance today wasn't as electric as the US championships last month (he fell down) but you can't help but root for him.

My brother just mentioned some Russian teenage phenom who was very well received on the ice. Couldn't remember her name. Anyone know who he was talking about and what the event(s) might be? Sorry for being so vague.
