I also think Riva is going to win. Zero Dark Thirty has lost all momentum, and Jennifer Lawrence is probably perceived as having several more chances in her future.
MacFarlane is okay so far, but you can tell that he hasn't had much live experience.

Does it count as cinematography when a computer makes it? Never thought I'd see J Mascis get an Oscar.
I hate that best supporting actor guy.
Hate.
LOL...did the orchestra start playing the theme from JAWS to cut off that man mid-speech. Nicole Kidman leaned over to Keith Urban and said, "Poor thing..." Oy!

I'm enjoying the show so far. Congrats to Waltz on his winning his second Oscar. I didn't think 'Brave' would win Best Animated Film because there some people who did not like it, but I enjoyed it. Shirley Bassey was AMAZING.
Why is it that on these award shows the presenters get to do their full (often unfunny) shtick, but the actual winners get their speeches cut off? Wanna save time? Cut the shtick!
And enough with the Jaws music. I dare them to use that on Steven Spielberg.

I feel very deflated that How to Survive a Plague did not take the Oscar.
Namo, are your really surprised? Things are changing but not that much.
Why the lack of reaction shots?
It stinks that Searching for Sugar Man, a perfectly fine doc but nothing deep, kept on sweeping the indicators and ultimately the Oscar. Usually you could count on the Documentary Feature category to have gravitas but they've gone light the last few years.
Thank g-d fosse is in his grave.
Quite the response for Ms Hudson. (Well deserved, methinks.)
Dame Shirley - best thing to happen to the Oscars in... years!
JHud. Brava!
And, yes, I'm loving the 'Les Miserables' performance!
(Also disappointed that 'How To Survive A Plague' didn't take home the win. But, congrats on the nomination)
JHud totally deserved her Oscar win and came back 6 years later to confirm it and she blew everyone away. Second best performance tonight right behind Dame Shirley.
Chicago, Dreamgirls, Les Miserables: is this the Oscars or the Tony Awards? That segment was a waste, unlike Dame Shirley Bassey who was a delight (and made up for the boring Bond montage). Goldfingah!

I thought that towards the end Catherine Zeta-Jones was lyp-syncing and she might have done it so it would not be a repeat of her 2010 Tony Awards performance.

I liked all the musical performances. It could have turned out like crap, but I thought it was well done.

Really canmark, this is what you're complaining about? I'll take that Les Miz medley ten times over some pixel polisher who made a realistic tiger whisker on his computer for The Life of Pi.
Not a waste at all: they honored movie musicals, they have the talent -- why not have them perform live?
