I bet it will go on FOREVER.
There is no stopping it...unfortunately.
I loved it!
She was like a female James Brown. It was a bold and audacious performance.
Sorry it scared so many of you.
It didn't scare me. I just thought it stank. But I always think she stinks. I mean, she can't sing, she can't dance and she looks like hell! Happy for you that you were able to find something to love.

"Happy for you that you were able to find something to love."
And I'm sorry for you that you couldn't. It was fun to watch!
And I also don't agree that this should be the last season of American Idol. It's a fun and entertaining show that the entire family can look forward to watching together. The winners, and even the runner ups, have gone on to sell millions of albums and concert tickets, star in Broadway shows, appear in movies, and even win an Oscar. In addition, Idol Gives Back has raised more than 125 million dollars over the past two years for children in need all over the world; something they will no doubt continue to do each season. Both the performance show and the results show consistently hold the number 1 and 2 spot in the Nielsen ratings each and every week. Why in the world should it be its last season? If it wasn't entertaining, people wouldn't be watching it, talking about it, starting threads about it, or debating its merits.
I have always been on the fence about Fantasia, this performance knocked me off the fence and onto the "she sucks" side.
Here's what Joe R. had to say about Fantasia in his TWOP recap:
"So Fantasia's painted her hair red, and not a single word she sings is decipherable in the slightest, and she borrowed all the beeps and snorts from Beyonce's "Work It Out," and as always it sounds like it must hurt a whole lot to sing like Fantasia, and ultimately? She's totally fantastic. And capital "I" Insane. Did she always know how to dance? This is awesome. Cut to Simon, mouth agape, struggling to comprehend. She has literally knocked Simon's brain clear across the room. He's finished. So am I. Wow."
And I AGREE!

When she came charging out I said "What is that on her head?" It looked like a fluorescent swim cap. Then her "song" consisted of snorts and wails. It made me long for the intelligible, but completely idiotic "Baby Mama" song.
It's a shame that because she did something entirely different from the show tunes you're used to from her that it automatically means her downfall. She nailed that number song wise and dance-wise. I'm glad the link is posted so that I can watch it again.
And I agree that the look on Simon's face was that of being stunned. He was shocked out of his hairdo. Didn't necessarily mean he hated it. Well, the view is about to discuss it, this should be a laugh!

I think the proper expression is "hot tranny mess"
"I actually had to leave the room..."
Oh dear, I'm sorry you were so offended...
What would you rather see...that? Or ANY of the group numbers from the entire season?
My roommate and I turned to each other and laughed when the group number started last night.
I heard 6 notes of the group sing and turned the channel. I couldn't take it. I'm just getting over a cold!
Ivan and I were speechless.
Just watched it again and loved it even more! Like James Brown, Tina Turner and Patti LaBelle all rolled into one!
"What would you rather see...that? Or ANY of the group numbers from the entire season?"
I was thinking the exact same thing as I rewatched it, Calvin. Guess it was just too original and daring for the average AI viewer.
Luscious I SO agree.
I am suprised this post is here. I thought she rocked.
It was raw, passionate, and I thought hella entertaining.
Something this season of Idol has lacka-lacka-lacked.
What's funny is Simon was just saying in an interview a few days ago that the show is losing its edge, needs to not be so old-fashioned, needs to be more daring, etc.
Then they start with a number that you would see at Six Flags while Yosemite Sam and Tweety hop around in the background.
and when Syesha got into the music (specifically 'Proud Mary') Simon didnt like the dancing. (He never likes the dancing)
Well, I'm sorry Simon but thats PERFORMING. If you want boring ass Archuleta who just stands there. Well, then you can have him.
I probably didn't "get it" cos I also was sitting there like Simon.

Can I have David Archuleta if Simon passes?
"It was raw, passionate,..."
That was the word I was looking for, mateo. Raw. Good way of describing it. Raw and somewhat tribal. Bravo Fantasia for not coming out a singing, as Simon would put it, another treacley ballad.
ETA "Can I have David Archuleta if Simon passes?"
Sorry, Joe. I've already filed the adoption papers.
Sabes que Joek, I think he's a little yoooung, para nearly todos BWWer.
Yes! Tribal too. I thought her moves were awesome.
"It was raw, passionate, and I thought hella entertaining. "
exactly!!
I LOVED IT!!!! Her energy is amazing and th power behind her voice is like none other.....
Well yay yay and another yay. I thought I'd be the only dissenting opinion on this thread when I made my post!
I could watch that number over and over, which I think I will.
I will give her this, it was the most entertaining thing about the show last night.
