...to go to Italy for 8 days.
I will be joining PalJoey'sPal, who is there on business. We will be in Milan, Turin, Genoa, Parma and the Cinque Terre.
Any travel tips greatly appreciated.
Will you get to see an opera in Verona?
I would like to announce that I will not be going to Italy and am very jealous of all you with your vacation postings.
My travel tip is to have a fabulous time!
Will you be drinking a lot of Chianti? Or just avoiding that wine on principle now?
On a more serious note, have a wonderful trip!
You ratbastard you! (Said with a huge dose of envy)
We won't be in Verona, but we will be seeing Felicity Lott at La Scala.
Aw, Rath... You once said you work to pay for your theater tickets. (Remember?) I work to travel.

Hmm, see the church Santa Maria della Grazie in Milan, it's with daVinci's "Last supper". And go see an opera in La Scala
Ah, probably better La Scala than the arena in Verona. Those seats are stone, and I thought my ass was going to die before the end of "Norma."

I will be boycotting Chianti!
Actually, we won't be in Tuscany at all, so I guess I'll have to settle for Barolos, Barberas, Barbarescos and Nebbiolos.
I can't wait to see Santa Maria della Grazie, Franklin. Apparently the Last Supper is sold out months in advance but our hotel is trying to get us tickets.
Have a wonderful trip!
Who will be understudying your role on the board while you are gone?????
I understand that Jose has been offered the role, but that his insistance of exclusivity is a sticking contractual point.
Well, Miss P--you did a pretty good audition this week with your thread on the Iraq War Hurting the Terror Fight.
But I think dealing with the slings and arrows of PapaLovesMambo might prove a little distasteful to you.
And Sueleen-- Iwas going to have PalJoey'sPal take a picture of me in front of the Shroud of Turin for you--but it's closed to visitors until 2025!
Thank you, PJ! It was an honor to play a small part supporting the STAR!
You will be missed. Seriously. Even though it's just for 8 days.
Maybe I should leave for those same 8 days. Couldn't you have planned this trip to take place post-election?
I hope you have a wonderful time. (And show everyone overseas what American "people" are really like!)

Have a great time, PalJoey!!!
Haha, your mention of the Shroud of Turin made me think of INTO THE LIGHT, one of the worst flops ever!
Have a fantabulous trip, PJ!
Who will care for the most precious terrier on this board?
Holly!

I'll be fine. Oh, you mean a real dog.
PJ--That sound great!
Unfortunately, I haven't been to any of those places, so I can't offer any tips. The closest I've come is Portofino, which is right next to the Cinque Terre, and very similar to them. All of those little (fab!) port cities (with their castle fortresses overlooking the towns) are incredible. Such a beautiful country.
Enjoy!
Portofino is molto chi-chi!

In Milan, in addition to "The Last Supper" (which I hope you can get in to see -- it's quite stunning in person), check out the Pinacoteca and the Castello Sforzesco and take tours of the Duomo and La Scala. It's a very modern and fast-paced city, so take in a bit of shopping and cafe culture while you're there.
The Cinque Terre is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Take your time going through the villages. It's worth it.
And if you have time, take a quick trip over the Pisa to see the Leaning Tower. It doesn't take long (maybe an hour at most) to see it, wander all the way around it and then head on your way. It's such a bizarre sight.
Have a great trip.
have a great time, Pal!
