And Abby, if you're under the age of 24, you can still use your parents insurance plan, from what I've read. Does that mean your parents pay the $500/month insurance?

Or, if you're over the age of 25, why are you still living at home? I'm 26 and I've been on my own since high school. (Those who know can argue about it, but let's not.)

This person claims that she also has some kind of debilitating issue (I forget if it had to do with bones). Pretty sure pre-ACA it would be pretty hard to get insurance without some pre-existing condition BS used. So really she has painted herself into a corner of being the model of Obamacare.

Sweetie I'm out of college. What's your major? Theater tech? I can't wait to see what you do with that and how many people you'll be able to employ with it. I also can't wait to see when you have to buy your own insurance and can see how expensive it is, unless you live off the government plan and pay very little, which wouldn't surprise me either. And I'm impressed that you read all 2700 pages of obamacare, because even Nancy Pelosi and Congress didn't read the whole thing before they passed it. I read the article, and it proves my point. Were you even able to read the article? I don't want to repeat myself, but if you employ 50 or more people you're forced to provide insurance for them or pay a fine. What don't you understand about that?

And strummergirl, my grandfather went to Harvard and Stanford under the GI bill after serving in WWII, not two years of community college like you say it was before obama.

And illegals don't deserve to make minimum wage. THEY'RE ILLEGAL!! They ARE the problem. They're costing this country millions of dollars ever year by going on welfare, using public hospitals and not having to pay for it etc. When they come here legally they have to make minimum wage, why don't they just do that?!

But since she's so against Obamacare, it doesn't matter what's right and what's wrong because of how she feels and what she believes is the only thing that's keeping your fragile existence together.

There could be some fine print that says everyone will receive a million dollars, and even then, she'd be against it.

Contrary to popular belief, going to college does make you go out and be a job creator. You have to go to college for many things that only ends up making you a cog in the machine. As for your example? Theatre Tech? That's simple. You work to put forth a show that employs actors, dancers, writers, theatre staff, a marketing firm, etc.

You know Google is not a lost concept this day and age. The average is under $200 so unless you're supporting a family with that $500 premium I think you're lying.

Even if these "illegal aliens" were just visiting family, they're still entitled to health care. I don't mind my taxes paying for them to receive care because I'm a nice person! Something you aren't.

Before I finish, I will say that health care in the UK (at least in Great Britain), tourists receive government funded health care, even as much as HIV medicine and care. Why? Because it's the right thing to do.

Anyway, my sister is a mother of four, and her insurance is not even $500. So once again she has been caught in a lie.
Also to answer your question, I'm in school to become an actor. So I will not be doing the "hiring."
However, right now I am working at a franchise to support myself while going to school, and even my boss finds the Right-Wing hysteria over this topic to be insane. And he has lawyers that have been actually READING the full Obamacare Act. So I'm going to trust his opinion on this ordeal then some little twit that is still in high school and can't even keep her lies straight.

Sorry but, no. That may be what you pay for insurance through your employer but the actual premiums are much, much higher. The last time I was a benefit rep for a company the single person premium was about $450/mo and the family premium was pushing $1,000/mo and that was over 5 years ago.

You never proved anything because there's nothing to prove! I'm out of college, I think you and romantico are the only one who still don't believe that fact. At least you're in good company! And if you want say I'm lying about my insurance being $500 go right ahead, but I'm telling you the truth. I don't make up stuff like that. And is your boss the franchise owner? Or just a manager? Managers aren't going to be affected unless they're fired, but I have talked to franchise owners and owners of other very successful businesses and they're all going to be hurt tremendously by this.

And my degree is in criminal justice. A major that has a lot of different opportunities and that I can do a lot of different things with.

And theatrefan I think the legal people who do that are just as bad, but when you have the illegals on top of legals doing it, it just makes it worse.

He's the owner. I have asked him about this and he told me, and I quote
"Anyone who is saying that this (Obamacare) doesn't fully understand it."
He went on to explain some of the basics of it and that made me read up on it.
This is how I feel about the Act in general.
If you ask a Liberal about it, they are going to praise the crap out of it. If you ask a Conservative, they're going to bash the living hell out of it. He is a conservative, but when it comes to this, he agrees with Obama. Does he think there are some issues? Yes. But he believes the act in general is a great start to something that is leading our nation forward. So many other nations have universal healthcare and they are doing just fine. Actually, better then fine. My friend went to friggin Australia and said its so much better there.

Well that owner is going to be in for quite a shock if he is employing more than 50 people, but if he only owns one or two he might not be affected at all.

And people are coming from Canada because they can't get the treatment they need, when they need it, up there, and they have universal healthcare. They have to wait months for hip replacements where now in America you can get it basically when you need it, but that won't be the case for long. A friend of mine's uncle who lived in canada, died because the doctor wouldn't see him until monday since they're off on the weekends up there. If something is seriously wrong with you on a friday, do you want them to tell you you have to wait until Monday to get it looked at?

And how can you call BS on me knowing franchise owners/small business owners? You know all my friends? They happen to be good family friends of mine and have built their company from the ground up to create a multi million dollar company. (the small business owner not the franchisee). I choose to associate myself with people who have done some thing with their lives and don't live off the government for assistance.

You're an idiot. I wrote a MODERNIZED GI Bill because president after president and congress after congress (I managed to make this non-partisan) decided not to keep up with the rising costs of college. The POST-9/11 GI Bill was something I was giving Obama credit for.

And this is why your side will continue to lose elections starting with your boy Mitt throwing around the term, 'illegal' on Univision. They are not on welfare. None of the DREAMers I met nor their families are on welfare. Less than 1% of the undocumented receive cash assistance. Many of the DREAMers I met and am proud to call good friends are young and had no control over them coming to this country. They have worked their way through college, including UC Berkeley and UCLA. Also, and I say this as a non-religious person, do you not see how immoral and un-empathetic it is for a hospital to turn back a person from an ER because the hospital HAS to know about their citizenship status?

Well I was talking about the undocumented just needing to get a job to get by but okay, I'll play. Those cab drivers you see across major cities are a largely immigrant work force and since their jobs are rendered contracts and most of their money goes to the garage they lease it from, yeah, they also are often stuck with less than minimum wage. It is not easy for people from other countries, some of whom have graduate degrees and Ph. Ds, to get the same profession as they did from their home country. Why do they come? I don't know. War, genocide, political upheaval. Those seem like good reasons to GTFO and come here.

Oh, so you want to act all tough love on immigration being a Criminal Justice major? Are you sure your field isn't hiring?

So, you went to private schools, didn't use any government sponsored loans to pay for college, when you get a big girl job and have to pay taxes, are you going to accept the refund? Because that is a form of government assistance.

And none of your parents friends (because I don't think you have any of your own) took out government loans? Their mortgages come from private bank loans and not the government?

I will say that an old boss of mine came from family money and used that to start her own sandwich/soup shop.

Now in America you can get it basically when you need it, but that won't be the case for long. If something is seriously wrong with you on a friday, do you want them to tell you you have to wait until Monday to get it looked at?

Really? You're really going to do this? His doctor doesn't work weekends? That's a Universal Healthcare issue? Well how about in America where my mom's doctor only works Tuesday & Thursday? It's not a mandated thing. It's not like hospitals just are closed on weekends in Canada. If you're doctor is off you see another doctor if you have a problem. If that problem is bad enough then his primary doctor probably would have come in.
