Lesley Ann Warren was robbed. She deserved the Oscar for her role in VICTOR/VICTORIA. It's still the laugh-out-loud/pee-in-your-pants highlight of that film. It's a performance that still holds up!! She was robbed. Robbed, I tell ya!

I second Angela Lansbury for Manchurian Candidate. That performance is still shocking.

A non-nominee that I haven't noticed mentioned (but I'm multi-tasking, so she might be on this thread) is Lisa Kudrow in THE OPPOSITE OF SEX.

Sergi López in Pan's Labrynth. One of the most well-acted villians I've seen.

I don't think he should have won over Jean Dujardin, but Michael Fassbender should have at least been nominated for Shame. It was a strange, uncomfortable (not in a compelling way, but in a "I don't want to watch this" way), but his performance was everything.

Vera Farmiga should have been nominated for The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas. While I find the film very flawed, her performance breaks my heart and always leaves me wailing at the final scene.

Julianne Moore for Far From Heaven is the first one that comes to my mind, at least in recent memory.

I'm still not quite sure how Julianne Moore has never won an Oscar. The year she got in for FAR FROM HEAVEN features one of the strongest lead actress line ups in recent memory, I would have been happy with just about any of them winning (okay, maybe not Diane Lane, though I know many love her in that movie). She has given so many Oscar-worthy performances, same with Glenn Close and Annette Bening, I hope they all win at some point.
