How is Jon Cryer a supporting actor on Two and a Half Men?
I'm as upset about the lack of a Lost nomination as anyone else. However, don't knock The West Wing. The West Wing was WONDERFUL this final season, and deserving of its nomination. The Sopranos (which had an awful this year this year) is the one I would omit.
Mister Matt I think you're living under a rock. You couldn't be more wrong. Not only is Lost everywhere but the show is so popular that they have an entire game going over the summer that apparently millions are invovled with.
Adamgreer -- I was never a big fan of The West Wing and from what I'd heard it was more or less due to be cancelled. The Sopranos had its moments this past season, but you're right, it could have been omitted over Lost without too much of a shock.
NCGuy - I was thinking the same thing about Jon Cryer..

Ok, Some of the Nominations are great, some of the absences are atrocious.
No "Lost" is pathetic, as is the inclusion of "The Sopranos" because it was beyond weak this season. "The West Wing" was probably a bit of a sympathy Nomination, but I won't complain because this season was definately the best season since Sorkin left.
My Prediction, "24" will win.
I can't really complain too much about this category. Hugh Laurie is the only person missing that probably deserved to be there, but I can't eliminate one of the other nominees to find room for him, so it was just tough luck for Hugh this year.
My Prediction, despite being LONG over due for an Emmy, Chris Meloni will once again be snubbed (i can't believe this is only his first nomination) and Peter Krause will take the award.
Allison Janney is a goddess and it's great to see her back in the middle fo things. She won't win this year, but it's great to see her get another nomination (not that she's been lacking in nominations since, except for last year, she's been nominated for either supporting of lead every year since 2000).
My Prodiction, Despite Kyra Sedgwick's great performance on The Closer, this will finally be Mariska Hargitay's. Olivia will walk away with the Statuette.
Ok, Supporting Actor I'm not sure about, Possibly Greg Itzin, but likely it will go to Captain Kirk.
And Supporting Actress (if there is a God) will go to Jean Smart who definately rotated my tires as First Lady Logan on 24.
I don't really watch Sit-Coms, but Neil Patrick Harris not getting a nomination seems wrong to me as I have watched that show several times and he is spot on.
As for Reality competetion program, well, Project Runway will finally dethrone The Amazing Race.
those are my prediction.

Congrats to Hugh Jackman for another nomination for hosting and to Bill Maher for his Real Time getting a nomination.
ww has blown conmsistently since aaron left. watching an episode from the first 4 seasons compared to anything that they've done since is like watching two different shows, one excellent and the other a waste of time.
lost...does nuthin' for me. housewives, same. but i do cackle with glee at their being shut out.
Really, with Tony Shalhoub being the ONLY major winner from last year to get a nomination, and with some of these snubs being SO prominent, it seems like the academy or whoever was saying "if we're going to shake things up, let's REALLY shake them up and not give noms to winners from last year." Shalhoub got the nomination that should have gone to Bateman or Braff, so go figure.

I'm glad that I won't be going this year. I Wonder who will be hosting though.
Didn't hear that yet. Thanks for the info.
For all of those that are complaing about the west wing, I looked up their record with the Emmy.
2000-nominated for 18 Emmy, won 9 (including best drama series)
2001-nominatedfor 18, won 8 (including best drama series)
2002-nominated for 21, won 4 (including best drama series, lead actrees, supporting actress and actor)
2003- nominated for 14 won 1 (guess which? Yep best drama series)
2004- nominated 12 won 1 (best leading actress, didnt win because it was the worst season)
2005- nominated for 5 (thefirst half of the season was actually TIED for the worst season in West Wing history).
Then this year it was actually at the same level as the first four seasona which got a total of 71 nominations and 22 wins.
Some may say they didn't like this season as much, but I thought that the wit was back, the big ideas from staffers and everything that made it great in the first place.
Next year, it can't be nominated again, other shows will take its place, let it have its last nominations.
I thought Neil Patrick Harris would not only be nominated but also win Best Supporting Actor. I am very disappointed.

No, I don't live under a rock, so you couldn't be more wrong. I live in a world where the majority of people I work with and associate with don't watch or talk about Lost. I do not see it "everywhere" nor hear about it "everywhere" because it is not "everywhere". At least, not in downtown Chicago. Occaisonally, I have seen a magazine cover with Lost featured, but only a couple of times in the last 6 months or so. I'm sure the fan sites for Lost are abuzz as all fan sites for every show are abuzz about their respective show. I do remember the unending buzz for Lost during the first season and I lived exactly where I live now. The only thing that changed was the buzz, not me.
Actually you probably just ignore it.It still is pretty much everywhere. It was absolutly everywhere in DC and is all over Ohio and New Jersey too. I am sure people will say it is still incredibly popular where they live also.
I would like to congratulate my mother's "boyfriend," Mr. Stephen Colbert, on the four nominations for The Colbert Report.
My mother and I sincerely hope you sweep the three you're eligible for--Best Host of a Variety Series, Best Variety Series, and Best Writing for a Variety Series.
If nothing else, your acceptance speech would be full of truthiness.
And for anyone who cares, a larger version of that image is my mom's desktop. She needs help.
No show is EVERYWHERE - but Lost is more prominent than just about any other show I know of.
Well, I guess it is certainly more prominent where you are and in your immediate environment.

If Debra, Sean, or Megan of Will & Grace don't walk away with Emmys this fall, something is gunna hit the fan.

If Debra Sean and Megan win this year the **** will hit the fan cause the show sucked this season.
I hate Grey's Anatomy. I know I'm the only one, and that's okay. At least the woman who plays Meredith wasn't nominated.
You're not the only one. It's another "watch the young pretty straight mostly white people struggle with being young pretty straight and having random sex with people in their work place in an all straight world (with a couple minority characters thrown in for good measure, all straight of course)" shows that Americans can totally all relate to.
Jean Smart
Of course throw an Emmy to the actor playing the stigmatized stereotype of a person with mental illness (dangerous, irresponsible, not taking her meds; not to mention thin, pretty, and white). You pop culture ravaging Americans just eat up the promotion of stereotypes, of course, because it's something you can all relate to.
Not only is Lost everywhere but the show is so popular that they have an entire game going...
I live in New York City. Lost is nowhere.
Someone explain to me what is meant by "Lost is everywhere" and saying it's not "everywhere" in NY? All I meant by that is that I've seen articles about it in several magazines and the ads run for it on ABC constantly.
What else WOULD it mean? It's not like you expect to be walking down the street and Lost slaps you in the face.
WannabeaFoster -- would you only be happy if every show had a gay character? Not every race, creed, or sexual orientation is going to be present on every show. (can of worms open, now watch them squirm about)
I don't watch Grey's Anatomy. I have no idea what the relationships of the characters are - and my not watching it is beacuse I have no interest in watching ANOTHER medical show that's more or less like any other one on tv (other than Scrubs, which I love).

I grew bored with Grey's about half way through the season. The lead character is constantly depressed and feeling sorry for herself. The blonde nurse is a self-absorbed whiner. The plot lines were identical from week to week. One overly dramatic plot line, one quirky plot line and meredith mooning for mcdreamy.
Will & Grace was abominable this season. They all so clearly wanted out that the pretty much phoned in their performances.
I've never seen Lost and don't feel like I'm missing anything. That show used that same "You won't believe this episode..." promo week after week. It became like ER, who apprently has the most sturdy emergency room in the world because it's been blown up, shot at and destroyed at least 3 times a season.
You know what though, the Lost advertising was never wrong. The episodes where they used the "you won't believe this ending" type of thing really were some of the biggest shocks a show could deliver.
I totally agree about Grey's, Moxie. The main character drives me nuts with her constant self-important, I'm-so-entitled attitude. I don't mind some of the supporting characters, but when the lead drives me up the wall, it's not worth watching. And I agree with your assessment, Foster, but I think that the finger should be pointed not at that particular show but network television in general (and in the larger sense, American culture).

Re: Grey's Anatomy - I'm actually kind of surprised at how annoying they make Meredith. Clearly, I'm no prude, but I hate the way they try to make her go out/get drunk/screw random guys thing endearing.. How many times did she do that this season? Three? And the blonde nurse with her shrieking neediness made me want to stick my tongue in a fan.
Thrilled that all of the Housewives were overlooked. The day Terri Hatcher wins and Emmy i'm throwing my tv out the window. That was another show that was so full of itself and never delivered. Eva Longoria makes me gag with the way she paws that basketball player boyfriend and brags about their sex life. Seriously, is she 16? No need to pepper every conversation with your "naughty" innuendo. We get it. You've seen him naked.
Glad for Jaimie Pressly. She's been around for so long and I actually kind of like her. Loved her with Justin Kirk in Jack & Jill (hated that show, mainly because Amanda Peet is talentless.) Tried to watch "My Name Is Earl" three times and could never sit through it. I don't get the fascination around that show.
