I am so mad that these five people were not nominated:

Ellen Pompeo
Felicity Huffman
Marcia Cross
Lauren Graham
Kristin Bell

They were snubbed big time. I know that a lot of people don't like Ellen Pompeo but I think her performance is brilliantly understated(and underrated). I think without her the show would lose what makes it different.

I'm so happy for the Lisa Kudrow nomination. "The Comeback" was the one show that I actually sat down to watch the new episodes of. I had always like Lisa as an actress, but in this series she became a genuis of the art. This nomination pleased me very very much :)

while i am exceedingly happy for jean smart, i cannot believe that another season passes without mary lynn rajskub being honored for her tremendous contribution to television history as chloe o'brien.

Also thought the writers deserved a nod.

I'm just a little bit ecstatic that Lisa Kudrow was nominated for her wonderful performance in "The Comeback." It's too bad HBO cancelled the show as it was really something.
And boo to omitting Zach Braff. Again.

I am so happy for Lisa Kudrow, The comeback was an awesome show! I look forward to the DVD.

I am also very happy for Kathy Griffin.

I could not be happier for Lisa Kudrow. I was crushed when they cancelled the show. I do hope she wins, as it seems she has a good chance.

What were they smoking that Lost did not get nominated for best drama??? Seriously! It is THE most talked about show of the year, without question. Guess we have to wait till next year when West Wing is out of the way. The lack of acting noms doesn't really surprise me as much (though Terry O'Quinn or the guy who plays Eko who I'm not even going to try to spell should have been nominated). Plus - really, to NOT nominate Michael Emerson for Henry Gale is ludicrous.

So, drama-wise, really pissed off.

However, I LOVE the nominations for comedy!

I actually enjoy all five of those shows, though Entourage should have been there over Two and a Half Men. The other four shows, though, they ACTUALLY picked the four best comedies on TV!

Actor drama -- Peter Krause (I forgot that SFU was eligible still this year - definitely deserving)

Actress drama - Frances Conroy - so overlooked, so amazing

Supporting actor drama - Imperioli was not the best supporting actor this year on the Sopranos - it should go to William Shatner again. He is FANTASTIC on Boston Legal (though it's almost more of a comedy role than drama)

Supporting actress drama - Same as above - gotta go with Candace Bergen. Boston Legal is a really entertaining show, and she is a big part of that.

Actor comedy has to go to Steve Carell if for no other reason than he's proven he knows how to give an acceptance speech! I'm REALLY surprised that Kevin James got nominated, but good for him.

Supporting actor in a comedy -- Jeremy Piven!! I wasn't actually expecting Will Arnet to get the nod, but that makes that category a lot tougher to choose - still going Piven though.

Supporting actress comedy -- Alfre Woodward?? Really? All she did was glare all season! That's the most absurd nomination of the bunch. Go Cheryl Hines!

Lead Actress comedy - how they can even justify nominating ANYONE from that Out of Practice crap-fest is amazing. Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria were robbed.

I'm guessing the awards are going to be on CBS this year...there're a LOT of nominations from shows from that network.

Did you notice that South Pacific was nominated? Nice...

I'm not a big follower of the Emmy's, so I was just wondering, do they ever show a trend in preferencing shows that are on the air as opposed to off? Just because it seems that a lot of nominees in the acting categories are for shows that have been off the air for some time now.

It's not so much that as the nomination of shows that aren't worthy. West Wing over Lost? Will and Grace over Entourage? Not a chance.

I am very dissapointed that LOST was not nominated, but I just took a look at the episodes LOST submitted for their nomination. The only good one they put in was "The 23rd Psalm" (Eko's episode). The other two they put in were "Man of Science, Man of Faith" (first episode) and "Dave" (crappy Hurley hallucination episode). They really should have submitted "The Other 48 Days" or the Finale. I can now see why they weren't nominated.

Okay, it's not a major category... but one of my co-workers was nominated this morning for Best Main Title Design for his Art Direction efforts on the (elaborate) opening for this year's Oscars.

So very proud of him.

Congrats to him, B12B...

The nominations do often reflect the poor choices for submission. I dont watch Lost anymore, so I dont know the episode you mention, but that may have sealed it's fate.

Acting submissions are often missteps as well.

"Mister Matt - WEEDS was not robbed of a Best Drama nomination but, a Best Comedy one."

Ah yes. Another bizarre anomoly. Housewives is a DRAMA. Weeds is a COMEDY. Do they just throw darts? Seriously.

Kudos for Kudrow and Pressly.

Further sucky omissions:

Everybody Hates Chris for Best Comedy
Tichina Arnold (Everybody Hates Chris) for Best Supporting Actress Comedy - she's right up there with Jaime Pressly laugh for laugh

Actually - Housewives is a comedy as well. Alfre Woodward is nominated in the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy catergory. Although I don't watch Housewives, I think that WEEDS is better off as a comedy. I think Elizabeth has a very nice shot at winnning. I really think Alexander Gould should've been nominated for Supporting Actor. The kid is GENIUS! Who knew we'd find Nemo on cable TV calling another kid a "f*ckwad"?

I guess I'm the one on crack. For some reason, I thought it was in the drama category. I could have sworn there was some big hubub about it being a comedy but nominated for drama last year. I must have watched too many episodes of Weeds. Time to see Huff. Anyway...WHATEVER! The Emmys should totally do whatever I say anyway. So there! Anything that's not Sondheim or Andrew Lloyd Wright is not a real musical!

I like Lost but this season wasn't that good. They had very good episodes but then they had really crappy episodes. I thought the best one this season was "The Other 48 Days".

That being said I am happy West Wing is up for Best Drama and Martin Sheen is up for Best Actor.

I too am shocked at the lack of nominations for Lost in the major categories. I'm happy that the guy who played Desmond got a nomination, but not ONE other acting nomination? I'm not sure I'd say anyone deserves to win, but definitely to get nominated.

I think Lost's episodes tend to be good, very good, and great. Even if they didn't necessarily submit their best episodes, I can't believe it's not nominated. Maybe this special committee thought their job was to not nominate winners of last year?

Otherwise, no nominations for Gilmore Girls like they wanted or anything. Besides, they're way too late. The show that really should have benefitted from this kind of voting and was robbed for years of Emmys? Buffy, the Vampire Slayer.

I loved the pilot for Lost, but thought it went downhill from there. I watched one or two episodes this season and gave up. I was a little surprised in the lack of noms, considering its popularity, though buzz on this season was nothing like last year.

Lost was all people at my school talked about Thursday mornings, both students and staff alike. The buzz on it is HUGE. It's easily the most analyzed and discussed show since the X-Files. No other show so engages its audience as Lost does. The one problem I could see with it is that the episodes submitted are mostly stand alone type episodes - ones that more or less make sense without having seen others (no pun intended). They should have submitted The Other 48 Days or the finale, both of which were INCREDIBLE episodes, and truly exemplify why Lost is the best show on tv, hands down.

I guess the buzz at your school is different. No one at my office has mentioned the show since the beginning of this season. There have been less articles and print buzz for the show this season. There was a brief spike in interest a month or two ago (a character died or something like that?). Everyone I knew who watched the show started losing interest this season and those who continue to watch concede it is not as good as last season. I guess it's all in who you ask, but liek Desperate Housewives, Lost started last season with a definite BANG, it hasn't held up as well this season. Last year, you couldn't turn your head without an image of Lost and/or its characters staring you back in the face. This year, you have to search to find them.
