I think Ivy is a talented costumer but I don't think she has a persona that could headline a tour. She has the look but I don't think she has the wit to go with it...at least from what we've seen so far.
I am all about Jinkx but she needs help with her look. A $100,000 cash prize could go a long way toward improving that...better costumes and better wigs.
As much as I enjoy the show, I can't help feeling that this year isn't quite as great as the past two seasons were.

We ordered our new baby girl a one piece cover-all with a teddy bear on it that says, "Peek-a-boo... I see you." I will NEVER be able to put it on her without thinking, "Peek-a-Ru!"

That drawing is terrifying and yet completely priceless. Love it.
I feel like it's difficult to compare Jinkx to Raja or Manila, just because I feel like they do such different things. To me, Jinkx is more in the vein of Pandora Boxx, in that they're more chracter-based and focused on comedy. Not that Raja and Manila can't be quite funny, but I don't see them as comedy queens. Regardless, I do think a few of the queens this season could hold their own with some of past seasons, especially now that almost all of the weak links have been let go.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
Not me, Jane. I found it on RuPaul's facebook page. Done by someone named Dave Hagen. I was hoping the artist did a series of the whole Drag Race cast, but I can't find anything on him.
Art has a double face, of expression and illusion.
My first exposure to Jerick Hoffer (a.k.a. Jinkx Monsoon) was as Angel in a production of "Rent" at the 5th Avenue theater in Seattle. I hated him in the show. He wore the same wig all night long (one of my co-workers who went to see the show but was sitting farther back than me actually didn't know that Angel was supposed to be a drag queen until the funeral scene. She thought Angel was just another girl). I didn't really like him in the show. I thought his characterization didn't have the heart of the character, and he came off as a little too cold and bitchy as Angel (there were other major issues I have with that production, but that's another topic). It kinda left with a really cold feeling towards Jinkx/Jerick.
Then, earlier this year, I ended up seeing him again as Hedwig in a local theater production of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch". Everything that he did that was wrong for Angel was totally right for Hedwig. It completely changed my opinion of him. He was funny, irreverent, and the songs seemed to suit him better than Angel's songs in Rent.
I haven't really caught past seasons of "Drag Race", but I did see a random episode here and there. And I have become a member of team Jinkx through this. He seems to have the best blend of personality and talent of all the girls. I do agree that some of his outfit and make-up choices could be a little bit better, but I hope he ends up making it to the end.
There is a short video of Jerick on the Balagan Theater's website from a local news magazine show that featured him. You will have to skip over the first minute and a half.
Alyssa's screed at the podium was INSANELY good TV. I didn't wanna watch, but I couldn't turn away. And good for Coco for finding a way to make it work for her. I don't think the jokes were all that funny, but the characterization was pretty damn fierce.
Right?! Trying to get under her skin and freak her out.
I think Ivy & Detox will be the next to go. They've given about all they can at this point, I think and the show will probably want to milk the Alyssa/Coco thing for as long as they possibly can.
Skipping the thread because I haven't finished watching the show, but Erica Andrews died last night. She was the lead in Ticked Off Trannies with Knives. She was RoXy's drag mother.

Did anyone actually buy RoXy's after lip-sync breakdown? I mean, from "I Whip My Hair Back and Forth," to, "my mother left me at a bus stop when I was three?"

It only makes some semblance of sense when you watch Untucked. Otherwise, it seems completely calculated (which it probably still is). But Untucked makes it seem much less left field.
