The latest I heard is that he shot his father in Hoboken, then drove to Newtown and shot his mom and her kindergarten class. Disgusting.

It's not a law. It's a fundamental right outlined in the Bill of Rights to the Constitution of the United States of America.

The only reason I'm bringing this up (even though I agree with you) is because you are profoundly ignorant of what kind of work it would take for this to change.

It is still a LAW, the highest Law of the land but a law none the less, and i am not ignorant at all as to what would go in to changing it.....it's more annoying that nobody seems to try, people just keep saying how hard it would be.

And of course we have shootings in the UK, everywhere will no matter if they are banned. The numbers are almost non existent though since the law changed, around 40 is the average each year.

Jordan i aint gonna get in to a bitching match with you on a day like this because its completely uncalled for. And yes the ones who dont want to get guns off the street are idiots and lazy....simple.

You can insult me, challenge me, argue your laws and constitution but seriously....when the whole of the civilized word is thinking the same thing maybe its time to realize that things there are not working when it comes to guns.

Don't try and make me out to be anti American because that could not be further from the truth, i adore the US, but i don't like this and dont agree with it, if that makes me hate America Jordan in your eyes then so be it

People don't try changing it because it is currently impossible to do so right now. Maybe in a 100 years. Who can say? But it is a literal impossibility right now. And, I'm sorry, but 18 dead children is not going to change that. It's just not...as stunningly horrible as that is.

And we can push for as many new laws to restrict access to guns as possible, but THIS Supreme Court will throw out those laws, one after the other. It is a horrible situation for those of us who want to see these tragedies stop.

And believe me i know how unbelievably hard it would be to adjust anything on the second amendment but i don't agree that people should not try, at least the world could see the US are trying. I think that's what annoys everyone so much

Ugh. I mean...states try to enact their own, more restrictive gun laws all the time. And if those laws are challenged all the way up to the Supreme Court, invariably they'll be tossed by the same court that has deemed corporations people.

I have a real abhorrence for the UK hate speech laws. But, your system of government is different form ours and, therefor, I do not try to tell you why I think they're wrong.

Apparently the Facebook page some of the news agencies are running is of a different guy with the same name as the murderer. It looks as if the news agencies are starting to catch their error. Hopefully nothing bad will happen to yet another person because of this tragedy. Such a sad, sad day. I stayed not far from there this summer on my way back to Indiana. I can't even imagine how difficult a time this is for their entire community right now.

My avatar is a reminder to myself. I need lots of reminders...

Please don't think i was attacking you...or anyone personally, i know everyone feels the same, i just am so passionate about this subject matter, Columbine was my Sept 11th (as horrific as that was), it left me devastated....sadly still does

This isn't about laws, it's about our Constitution. States and Congress can pass as many laws as they like, but this SCOTUS will continue to throw them out. The only real solution is amending the Constitution, which is extremely difficult to do in the best circumstances, but would be impossible given the current GOP dominance of state legislatures.

I heard about the guy on Facebook. How embarrassing and horrible for him. And that just adds to why everything needs to be accurate when reporting.
