Everyone that shops at Hot Topic is a total poser. You're not a punk; you're buying your clothes from the mall, and it really makes you no better than all the kids you make fun of that shop at Abercrombie.
I've liked The Ramones since I was 9 years old and I hate that so many of my generation claim they like them now and buy the t-shirt from Hot Topic, just because they've heard Ramones songs on commercials. (And because they're "punk" and "vintage") Get back to me once you've worn out your video of "Rock 'N' Roll High School" and know a song other than "that Hey-Ho song."
To those who oppose marriage for same-sex couples:
There is no middle ground on gay rights. Don't give me that crap about you supporting the right of gay couples to be "left alone" and form legal contracts or whatever, but refuse to support marriage rights.
You're basing your opinion on the Bible. A literal interpretation of homophobic King James' translation of the Bible, that is. This literal translation says sex between two men is punishable by death. So -- you either support full marriage rights for me, or you want me put to death. No middle ground. Unless you're "picking and choosing" what biblical mandates to follow, as you so often accuse me of doing.
So don't expect me to be civil and just agree to disagree with you on this topic. I don't take kindly to people who want me dead.

Los Angeles and New York City really aren't important to the rest of the country
racism goes both ways and it's an overused excuse
the strength of the American economy is being moved overseas by money grubbing corporations, but the majority of Americans are too clueless to even see it more or less care
2-3 years of active military service (not Reserves, not National Guard) should be mandatory, no exemptions, to be started before age 25
I dont' think that performers who stress their Jewish background should be recording Christmas albums. (this being brought on by just seeing a clip of Billy Crystal doing a tree lighting for a big mall) Actually, I'm not annoyed by them singing "Santa"-type songs, but "Silent Night" is a little much.

1. Laura Bush would have been a great bondage porn star in another life.
2. People who use Apple computers are generally smarter, easy to get along with, and often have a sexy presence.
3. People who have a "Marriage = Man + Woman" sticker on their car shouldn't be allowed to have insurance.
4. People who park in a handicap parking slot who aren't handicap, should immediately be MADE handicap. That would only be fair. (Not unpopular...just not an opinion most think about.)

Very true, because they certainly fall in the high-risk category of me, um, "accidentally" scratching across their paint job with my keys.

Are you suggesting that we just get rid of all children, elderly people, and handicapped people? Hitler would've liked you.
But you're entitled to your opinion, however offensive it may be, I suppose.

No thanks. High school physical education was enough. And, um, first you've got to dispose of that little "don't ask don't tell" crap (why do I think that if your proposal went through, we'd suddenly see a slew of teenagers affecting homosexuality to get out of mandatory service--it might be worth it just to see their pathetic efforts...)

"racism goes both ways and it's an overused excuse"
Thank you! I get so sick of people saying someone is racist just because they don't like someone who is black. I believe racism can be a big issue, but it's not quite as big as some people make it out to be. There are other issues that are a lot worse right now than racism.

you obviously missed the 'no exemptions' part

Oh, well, in that case--
I don't think the military does anything more to "make you a man" or build teamwork or self-reliance any more than any of the other professions do.

the military teaches a lot of things, but incapable recruits do wash out
and the mandatory service wouldn't be restricted to men

Okay, my bad. I should have specified: I'm referring to capable adults. If a steadily employed, educated adult can't do something without someone else's input, they're a lost cause.
BTW, love the passive-aggressive tone of your post.

I think Rose was talking more about the people who are too co-dependent, socially needy, and can't do anything without other people's approval - she's not talking about people physically being unable to do things.
Yes, Tiff! Thank you. I knew there was a reason I love you so...

Oh, G-d, that is so true. I have a neighbor who has to weigh at least 300 pounds and she walks around in bicycle shorts ane her bra all of the time. It makes me ill.
Ugh, those people! Now, it's great if you're comfortable with your body, but there are so many out there that I wonder if any of them own a full length mirror.
No problem Rose! Having been witness to far too many people having intense cell conversations about what gum to buy or nail polish to try, I interpreted your comments that way from the get-go!
"Ray" was a horrble movie.
Prostitution is a perfectly respectable profession.
Well, I have many "unpopular" religious beliefs (or in my case, lack thereof) that I won't go into even on an "Unpopular opinions" thread.
I would probably get my head ripped off by someone.
On a less controversial topic, call me superficial but Hilary Swank looks like a man. An ugly man. With ugly man teeth. She shouldn't be on screen. Ever.
Alright, I'm done being a shallow bitch now.
"People who have a "Marriage = Man + Woman" sticker on their car shouldn't be allowed to have insurance"
I'm with Calvin. My cousin was driving me somewhere and we saw a car like that. I was like "Ram into them!" She didn't, but she sped up really fast and slammed on the breaks at the last second, blaring her horn. I was in another place with my sister and we half-ripped one off a car's bumper. So it said "Marriage = Man"
Broadway_Baby, I completely agree about Hilary Swank- there's a reason that she, of all actresses, was in Boys Don't Cry.
Bret, I agree with you, Ray was a horrible movie. I just kept waiting for it to get better and then...it didn't. I was disappointed. And then I found out that most of the singing wasn't even Jamie Foxx. Well, at least he played the piano himself.

Sorry, but I still think it's just silly to say that being in the military will automatically improve someone. He or she may not be suited for it in any number of ways. Even if he is, this sort of experience surely isn't restricted to the military. I've worked in theatres that were run like the Marine Corps--and I had far less confidence that I would come out alive.
