Per the New York Times:
“President Trump was rushed out of the White House correspondents’ dinner on Saturday night after reports of gunfire at the Washington Hilton. A suspect was taken into custody, the Secret Service said.
According to the White House press pool, a group of reporters who travel with the president, a member of the Secret Service shouted, “Shots fired.” Agents with guns drawn sprinted through the aisles to reach the president. He later wrote on social media, “LET THE SHOW GO ON,” but was leaving the hotel.”

Aw, staged attempts are so cute from MAGAts who would rather terrify a bunch of journalists than answer their questions and get gently ribbed like any other POTUS has done with ease. Pretty weak idea for such a Sociopathic Child Rapist who thinks he's Jesus Christ.

I’d be worried that the target of the alleged perpetrator wasn’t Trump, but the hundreds of journalists in the crowd. Guess we’ll have to wait for the investigation to report what the motivations were.

I doubt it, he needs something to distract from the war he started, his horrible ratings, and the Epstein Files. If you notice, every time he is down in the polls and losing, there is an attempt on his life. Weird.
Also, again, this man had knives, a shotgun, and several handguns and yet....passed through security just fine? Bullsh*t. He was paid by the Red team since now Trump is the HERO who wanted the show to go on. He thinks we are as stupid as the grease stains that voted for him.
Nah.

I’ve read he was shot before he got through the security checkpoint. Where are you seeing he was able to get through security?

To get into that building, you have to pass many security checkpoints. That is why the press keeps saying "A security checkpoint". The layout has the ballroom in the middle of the building, not at the front of it. So, it's super interesting that he managed to get to the room right next door to the ballroom with all those weapons including a large shotgun. It makes no sense and of course his remarks patting himself on the back for being so strong because he just LOVES America says it all. Except the one thing he refused to comment on (per the NYT):
The president declined to answer a question about how weapons were smuggled inside the hotel.
.....Right.

You are displaying extremely dangerous behavior. I urge you to stop that. Someone has been shot. You can't just scream around in a frenzy that it's all fake or staged. Do you have any idea of the danger in these times? Are you so brainwashed that you think these things don't actually happen? Get a grip of yourself. We will hear more about the motives and details later. Will you apologize later when it turns out you were wrong? Or is your hatred worth more than attempted murder?

Reports indicate that federal campaign finance records show Allen donated money to a political action committee supporting Kamala Harris's 2024 presidential campaign.
And that he received and award in 2024 "teacher of the month". I hope the parents of those students are happy.

Although I empathize with the emotion of your response, and the reality in your statement, "We will hear more about the motives and details later", one fact is that no one has been shot - not even the alleged, potential assailant. I am (personally) very suspicious, as that fact alone doesn't align with how incidents of this kind have transpired in the past.
Trump had already painted himself into yet another negative and inextricable corner; in this case, regarding the Correspondence Dinner. Per press reports, his plan was to make a speech and then leave. It was suspected that Trump would trash his enemies in the Press with his remarks.
I believe that Trump is currently in a very desperate situation, and that he has no personal or moral boundaries that might restrict his actions when it comes to how far he will go in regards to his personal or financial preservation. Personally, I cannot eliminate a possibility that this event was staged.
Using a press conference after the event to speak NOT ABOUT THE ACT, OR THE ALLEGED ASSAILANT, but rather as a "commercial" for his ballroom, and also his insistence on pointing up the "record-setting" group of people in attendance and their "tremendous amount of love and coming together" disgusted me. Do I believe that this incident created the 60's Love-In described by his imagination? No. No, I don't.
I was also angered by Trump's attempt to opportunistically replace the purpose of the event, meant to honor the news journalists and reporters who's work honors the 1st Amendment, with Trump's own agenda. The topper for me was Trump's statement to "do it again, within the next 30 days, and we'll make it bigger and better, and even nicer."
So, no - I can't prove anything, but I do believe in the possibility of this being a staged event.

Thanks for your response. At this point, nothing can be ruled out, but the perpetrator really exists, his past is becoming increasingly visible, and many people know him. You are indeed allowed to keep your options open, but Sutton Ross's reaction was ludicrous.

I had a different experience. Trump not giving the attacker too much credit and attention. Imagine if he would let evil like that dictate his whole life. He tried to keep the vibe positive.

I find that keeping "the vibe positive" is not a skill in Trump's toolbox. I feel and see that nations formerly respected, and considered to be US allies also disagree with that possibility. They do (and have recently) spoken up with a different opinion.

The countries with low crime/rape rates and a thriving economy, such as Poland completely back Trump, I have shown examples of that in the other thread. The countries who have skyrocketing crime/rape rates and a collapsed economy don't.
And about his "vibe" in the speech afterwards, maybe it was nerves, looking for distraction, maybe he didn't want t give the attacker too much credit and attention, or maybe he even thought it was a great way to express safety measures for future dinners, like in the ballroom passion project that is on his mind. Can't really blame him for that.

New York Times (gift link):
Security at Correspondents’ Dinner Worked as Intended, Experts Say
Officials noted that the suspect never made it into the hotel ballroom, where President Trump and hundreds of journalists were gathered for the White House correspondents’ dinner.

Washington Post
"The Trump administration provided a lower level of security for the White House correspondents’ dinner than it has for other gatherings of high-ranking officials, even though the president and many Cabinet members were in attendance, according to officials familiar with the plan.
"When so many officials gather in one place for official functions such as an inauguration or State of the Union address, the secretary of homeland security typically puts the Secret Service in charge of coordinating all security through a formal designation known as a “National Special Security Event.”
"There was no such designation on Saturday night at an event also attended by thousands of journalists and other government officials, according to local and federal officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss security details. "

Of course this was staged! Are you serious? You really think it's coincidence that dozens of MAGA influencers including Meghan McCain, Libs of Tik Tok and Randy fine all tweeted about how important it is for Trump to get his ballroom less than an hour after it happened?
It's 2026, people. There is no such thing as "conspiracy theories" anymore. Now they're just theories.

Exactly. Three attempts yet they were not successful? Weird. And him instructing security to be "light" that night is SUCH a coincidence! Lolz. You have to be nearly brain dead to believe this ridiculous nonsense anymore. And five minutes after it happened, his commercial for "his" new ballroom was absolutely hilarious. "You know where this would NEVER happen?!? My ballroom! That is why construction should continue!!". Yeah, anytime he's down in the polls, he stages an assassination attempt. That's his solution to not being popular.
Here is the thing: Someday, there will be a person not on his team. There will be a person he has pissed off for the last time. There will be a person he isn't paying to stage this bullsh*t. That person will succeed and it will be a beautiful day. Looking forward to that and November, of course.

Norah O'Donnell's 60 Minutes report from yesterday's broadcast is an interesting watch. It not only demonstrates how easily Trump lies, but also his blatant, unabashed hatred of the Press (in this instance, O'Donnell specifically).
Look at the clip below, beginning at the ~3:28 timestamp. Does it appear as if Trump has tripped and fallen, or as if he is being assisted to the ground after being "asked to go down by the agents" (in his version)?
The biggest cue for me in determining what actually happened is to look at how the agents assist Trump in that moment. Are they guiding him downward, toward the floor, or are they lifting - trying to hold him upright? Sure as heck looks to me like the latter (but they lost the battle).
Trump spins a very different lie in the interview saying that the agents were telling him, "Please go down to the floor. Please go down to the floor." Uh-huh. Sure.
But his lies are commonplace, now. What still always riles me is Trump's complete absence of respect (IMO, absolute hatred) for the Press, and consequently The Constitution and its 1st Amendment.
When O'Donnell brings up the subject of the assailant's motive and his manifesto, Trump attacks, saying, "You're horrible people". When O'Donnell asks, "Oh, you think he was referring to you?", he becomes hyper-defensive and says, "You should be ashamed of yourself reading that" and later calls her a disgrace.
I believe the "disgrace" is Trump. He cannot remain in office forever, and I look forward to his prosecution when he is out of office.

I don't think the attack was staged. Every President faces a myriad of threats and attacks in their time. In most cases they're just thwarted before being acted out. I'm fully willing to put money that they knew the possibility of this guy come around. Otherwise why go to an event you haven't been too since being president? Eventually they're going to bet on the wrong crazy person to let get too close to him and it will actually be the end.
Also, this isn't even a government event. They wouldn't hold it in "The Ballroom" anyway.

Yes, indeed-y. ![]()
I also appreciate Jon Lovett's commentary on Jimmy Kimmel. After reminding the audience that Trump demolished the East Wing without Congressional permission or approval, he said:
"The ballroom doesn't become more legal because someone did something f---ing evil and stupid at a different ballroom. It's not how ballrooms work."
