Less than two hours to go! I can't watch live, but I know lots of younz do! Post 'em here so I can steal the information and post it on Facebook before any of my friends do! That's very important!
Fingers crossed for Jen!
I just don't care this year, which is odd since I'm usually really into it.
I don't care about the Oscars. I've half-watched maybe three times in the past seven or eight years. But for some reason, I always get excited about the nominations announcement. It also determines which movies I'll be seeing at the Showcase in a few weeks, and that's fun.
Do you know why this year is different, Taz? Is it because you hate Meryl Streep?
I care less this year too - largely because it only seems about two months since the last ceremony. Time moves too quickly, dontchafind?
Anyone with any last-minute crazy predictions? This is your last chance - high stakes, high glory.
I'm not really into it this year, either. Most of the movies I saw this season were The Lego Movie.

It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out. Will the duelling bits of British Tragic Genius Oscar Bait cancel each other out, leaving BOYHOOD as Best Picture? Will the vote be split enough so that the inane BIRDMAN will win? Will they manage to not nominate Josh Brolin for his brilliant comic turn in INHERENT VICE?
Or not. Wake me when it's over.
It's Moore's to lose. I think this is her year.
Roscoe, I still haven't seen "Inherent Vice," but I'm pretty excited. PTA has never let me down.
Congrats to Meryl for nominating herself AGAIN. That woman has no shame.
Oher than that I was surprised (and sad) that LIFE, ITSELF didn't get a nomination for Best Documentary. I thought for sure, it should have been nominated and probably won. And strangely, SELMA only got the one nomination for Best Picture - another film I was sure would pick up more.
I'm also thrilled for Laura Dern for her nomination (although I still want Arquette to win), since she and that film were just remarkable.
Haven't the "Selma" snubs been chalked up to screener snafus? I haven't been following too closely. But I can't imagine it not getting a BP Oscar nom-nom-nom.
EDIT: Oh, dang. I thought this was happening at 9:00. It happened at 8:30. I've been misled!
Did the Lego Movie just get snubbed for Animation? That's crazy, it was one of the best reviewed movies of the year.
The Oscars are so white this year they didn't even nominate the yellow people from The Lego Movie.

Whatever -- seldom has a less interesting batch of movies snagged so many nominations.
My Prediction: there won't be a big winner, no sweep's gonna happen this year. Unless it does.
As William Goldman used to say, "Nobody knows anything."
I agree that it is the most boring of years, many of the films i liked, but did not love. I thought the cast and direction of Birdman was great, but the script was a let down that said nothing whilst trying to come across as if it was saying everything.
I enjoyed Imitation Game, Theory of Everything but again, more for the performances, Boyhood i thought was pretty good.
I have to say though i prefer it when no clean sweep happens and no front runner is there, it makes watching the tedious ceremony that bit more interesting
I'm really surprised about THE LEGO MOVIE. That just seemed an absolute lock for a win. And I guess the kids around here are gonna riot this morning since INTO THE WOODS only got something like 3 nominations.
I thought Into The Woods would get a Best Movie nomination with no chance of winning just because it was one of the better films from a very average year.
I agree The Lego Movie snub is a little painful, i honestly thought it would get nominated and win, its reviews were fantastic and it was a massive hit.

I just wanted INHERENT VICE to win everything. EVERYTHING.
All those movies that I couldn't have cared less about seeing (FOXCATCHER, WHIPLASH, SELMA, THEORY OF EVERYTHING) and movies that I'd rather take a beating than ever subject myself to (GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL).
The "who gives a sh*t" factor is pretty serious this year. Neil Patrick Harris has work cut out for him.
Never seen Lego Movie but someone said there was a live-action sequence? Think that hurt it?
It shouldn't have, the live part was very much at the end
Once again women were overlooked in the directing category.
Ava DuVernay really should have gotten a nomination.
Completely agree Tazber.
Completely agree Tazber & ucjrdude902. It's a very phallic category.
Why do you think there is such a lack of color in the acting categories? Anyone have a thought?
I doubt the live-action at the end of The Lego Movie hurt it. I just think the Academy didn't want something as bluntly commercial as The Lego Movie sullying their artistic roster.
And it's absurd Ava DuVernay was not nominated. That would have been an easy get for the Academy to, y'know, at least *appear* diverse.
