So, I'm just throwing this out there to see if any BWWers also happen to be gamers. We can use this thread to discuss, well, ANYTHING about games (we can put game news and reviews in here as opposed to the main OT board, where not everyone is interested). And NO, addictions to Peggle or Bejeweled don't make you a gamer. They just make you a grandma.
Me? After taking a long, hard break from Rock Band 2 (everything starts to look like rows of colored gems) I realized I'd never played Portal. I downloaded it from Steam (it runs great in Boot Camp on my MacBook) and am having a blast.
You?

I'm actually kinda into Star Wars: The Force Unleashed on Playstation 3 right now. I always play as the Sith Apprentice because being evil is WAY more fun than the Jedi.
I also have countless games for the emulators I have on my Mac. I still play Super Mario Brothers from NES and Super NES sometimes. I love classic gaming systems, and still rock Tekken and Dragon Ball for PS1.

i used to play video games a lot when i was younger... was very much into the RPGs... Legend of Zelda on the NES, the original Final Fantasy on NES moving up to SNES... Phantasy Star series on the Genesis... not so much anymore... but man whenever I get bored i always play Animal Crossing on my gamecube... holy damn is that game addicting!!!
oh that and I love playing hockey... any hockey video game!
Oh thank the lord, I'm not alone. XD
I try not to be married to one individual console (and I'm a console gamer rather than a PC gamer), but the vast majority of games that I like to play are on the Playstation 2, so Sony has earned my loyalty. I mean, I have an Xbox 360 and enjoy the few games I've been able to afford for it, and I'll be moving into a house with a Wii soon, so there's a whole new world of gaming opening up, but the Playstation 2 is my love.
I like survival horror best. I play the stuff that's a little more action-based (Resident Evil, Dead Rising), but my absolute favourites are the atmospheric story-based ones (basically the Silent Hill series XD).
I also dig music games; I have an aversion to Guitar Hero for some reason, but I can't get enough of Singstar, and you can't beat a good round of Gitaroo Man or Vib-Ribbon either. Vib-Ribbon is very old-school but simply awesome for the fact you can play with your own choice of CD! Literally the only game I've found that can encompass a vast variety of showtunes. ;D Gitaroo Man is incredibly awesome, horrendously strange, and totally my favourite music game.
And of course, Japanese RPGs. I'm mostly a Final Fantasy fangirl, but I didn't get on very well with FFXII and have scarcely got anywhere with it. So I'm replaying FFVIII instead and laughing at my naming schemes (Shakespearean for Squall, Rinoa, Angelo, and Griever; Pokemon for the GFs). The best game I've ever played in my life is Dark Chronicle. It's an RPG, but with action-y fighting, hilariously sedate mini-games, and awesome world-build-iness.
I also love my DS. I imported her from Japan. She is the colour of sakura blossom, and has a Mew on the front, and another one next to the top screen. She's very pretty. :3 I mostly play Pokemon on her, but also have addictions to Animal Crossing: Wild World and Professor Layton and the Curious Village, not to mention the hilariously addictive Phoenix Wright series. Although I've not yet played Apollo Justice, because I don't like paying so much for such physically tiny games. XD
I have a serious hatred of MMORPGs. I lost a boyfriend to Final Fantasy XI (no, really, he played it too much, and we broke up D:), and I'm finding it really difficult to keep in touch with certain friends on the other side of the country, because instead of sitting down for chats or quick emails or whatever, they sit down to World of Warcraft. It saddens me HARDCORE that I know the news stories aren't exaggerating when they talk about people getting sucked into these games and losing friendships and other hobbies because of them.
I wish games weren't so expensive. I'm sure I'd be able to buy more if I didn't go to the theatre so much. I neeeeed Silent Hill: Homecoming, but damned if I can afford it right now. D:
Portal is fantastic, great choice.
Right now I am just patiently waiting for StarCraft II.
I tend to go through phases where I play tons of games to times when I do nothing. Now that I got Wii Fit in December, I've more or less kept to that recently (partly out of fear that if I put something else in I'll stop with the wii fit which is actually working - I've lost over 10 pounds since I started with it).
I'm also a BIG fan of the Lego games (Batman Lego has been patiently waiting for me...) and love RPG games - Zelda, Tomb Raider etc.
Had a stint with Guitar Hero, but haven't broken that out in a while.
Definitely not a hard core gamer by any means, but I've definitely been known to get lost in a game from time to time.

Lego Batman is awesome. Not as good as Lego Star Wars, but still good.
Big time gamer here :) Play mostly on the 360 and Wii. I'm currently addicted to Left 4 Dead and Saints Row 2 on the 360. Anyone play online?

I am all about the Legos. They give me something to do while I'm waiting for new Mario games.

Eatlasagna, I really like your avi!! Chancellor Palpatine/ The Sith Lord right? I'm basically a super nerd when it comes to Star Wars, sad but true...
Oh and Lego Star Wars is the the sh*t!!
I really love the fact that I can download all the classic games and new demos I want from the Playstation online network and the Wii Shop Channel. But all my downloads are wreaking havoc on my credit card.
I just bought a DS and have Brain Age, Super Mario Party and Elite Beat Agents. Next purchase will be Mario Kart. You guys have any other suggestions?
I play World of Warcraft currently and used to play Second Life. I like MMORPGs.

killertofu... hell yeah that's palpatine aka darth sidious! gotta' love him!
btw... i'm a Nintendo man... always have been! a huge supporter of them... had a NES, SNES, Gameboy, Nintendo 64 and Gamecube... don't have a wii since i rarely play anymore... but i really want a DS even though i also know i won't play it...
oh and i'm addicted to that damn mama's cooking game!!! haha
I still can't get through Donkey Kong Country or Super Mario 2 on my Gameboy.
Emulators are the love children of Jesus and Angelina Jolie.
I <3 Final Fantasy.
Also, I miss the Sega Genesis like WOAH. That is, I miss them making games for it. Cause I still have one. :)
There seems to be an invisible post here.
I'm also a video game addict.
I own a Super Nintendo, Sega Dreamcast (with only 3 games), Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii, Playstation 2, a Game Boy Color, and a Sega Game Gear. I am a bit of a nintendo person, although I am an equal opportunity gamer.
Right now I'm in the middle of playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I'm also addicted to Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. I am also a HUGE RPG lover and I can't get enough of the Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Zelda games.
BTW, the hardest game IMO is Super Mario Brothers: The Lost Levels. It was included in the 4-in-one Super NES game Super Mario All Stars, and is basically a harder version of the original Super Mario Brothers game. To this day I have not been able to get past the second area.
I just got a PS3 over Christmas so I'm obsessed with Uncharted and Little Big Planet. And I've kind of become addicted to DJ Hero which is by far my favorite of any of the music games that have come out.
I got myself a wii a few months ago for my birthday...loving it, except for the wiimote that broke soon after I got it from target....now there arent any in the stores.
Loving Mario Galaxy and looking very forward to Zelda. They are all new to me, so used games are a great bargain.
I was out of the loop for about 2 years...dont have as much time, but it is fun getting into it again. Bought the new Super Mario Bros over the weekend and cant believe how bad my skills are! My callouses are gone too.
We're also liking playing with friends on the weekends, so we've been into some of the sports. Also got Resort this weekend, but except for 100 pin bowling, it isnt that fun. I really wish there was a good mini golf game.
I was going to get the resort game, but now I won't. Thanks, Doodle, you just saved me $50!
WEll, I actually have not played with friends yet, so my little review may be premature, stockard. I'd hate to rob you of the fun of jousting!
I'm not sure why I need the motionplus other than this game, however. I hope they come up with other games which this technology would enhance other than golf and tennis (like mini golf!)
I actually like Wii Sports Resort a lot more than Wii Sports. The Wii motionplus makes a BIG difference and I think archery and sword fighting are really fun. Plus the holdovers such as bowling and golf work much better. I think it's a great game and worth it for the wii motion plus alone.

I play A LOT of video games. Right now on PS3 I'm playing through Dragon Age: Origins, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and on XBox 360 I'm playing Assassins' Creed 2. And I'm patiently awaiting Mass Effect 2.
Loooove games. I haven't started anything new recently but constantly go back and replay a lot of my stuff - all the Tomb Raiders, Mirror's Edge, GTAs, Kingdom Hearts, etc. etc. I started Fallout 3 but it completely overwhelmed me so I stopped.

I replay Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2 at least twice a year, can't get enough of 'em. I can't wait for Birth By Sleep (need to work on getting a PSP first...).
