hah...my mom's watching that movie.
I'm bored.
Me too..I'm listening to the new podcast for RENT. It's so long, wow. I thought it'd be like 10 minutes at most, but it's like 45 minutes long.
Well, Anythony's was almost an hour.
Yeah, I know. It's so nice that they made it so long.

Yeah, it is. I was thinking before.. do you think after the lotto for the 10th annivesary, they'll sell standing room tix?
EDIT: I was talking with my parents about college (now that my brother's off to college, they feel the need to go nuts about it with me), and I told them that I'd like to go to a college in the city such as NYU so I'd be able to go see shows more often and do lottos. Is that shallow?
Heh, it's not shallow at all. A big part of the college experience is the surrounding area, and no matter what you're interested in studying you'll almost certainly find a school with a good program for it somewhere in NYC. I made it clear to my parents that I wouldn't even consider a school outside of the city because having grown up here, anything else would have felt too boring and laid-back by comparison. And hey, being able to be at the theater 20 minutes after I leave my dorm room isn't too shabby either
So, Rent. Mandi will be happy to know that Haven went on as Maureen this afternoon I thought she did a great job - Over The Moon was funny for all the right reasons, and in other parts of the show her Maureen was believably seductive and self-centered, with a dash of wide-eyed innocence.
Karmine absolutely blew me away as Mimi - within the first few moments of Light My Candle, she had firmly established both the world-weary hard-edged side of Mimi and the youthful exuberance in a way that Antonique, as much as I love her voice, never really did. Out Tonight was just jaw-droppingly amazing, definitely the highlight of the afternoon, and if I were the crying type I would have been bawling my eyes out during Without You and the end of Goodbye Love. On another note, it was great to actually hear someone with an authentic Noo Yawk accent in a show set in the city
I wasn't overly impressed by Tim, but at the same time I feel like I'm judging his performance too harshly because I'm comparing him to Will Chase. His voice leans very much towards the raspy end of the spectrum, sometimes a bit too much so, but he sounded really good when he was able to get that under control. Acting-wise, he was quite good - very much an Angry!Roger. And on a shallow note, he's adorable - think Billie Joe Armstrong's long-lost cuter twin brother.
Since I've seen each of the other main cast members in their roles at least once, I won't review them since I've probably already said how I feel about their portrayals. Among the ensemble members, I thought Karen Olivo did a particularly good job as Mark's Mom.
After the show, Destan gave the fundraising speech. I decided to spend the $20 to get my picture taken with Matt and Tim. The guy taking the pictures had to take mine 3 times because the first 2 didn't come out, but the end result is quite cute (and when I joked between pictures 2 and 3 that maybe the camera didn't like me or something, Tim was like "aww, the camera loves you" )

I really liked the new podcast It's really neat how they are friends with Anthony. I loved the girl's reaction to the movie. (ahh I forget her name)
hmm..I have no idea Mel..
Oo Haven, your so lucky! I'm dying to see her go on as Maureen.
I'm upset I missed Karmine this week, even though if I really wanted to, I could have tried lotto.
Is Tim British?
I think he might be Canadian?
I'm not sure, Em. He did seem to have some sort of cute accent when he was talking during the picture-taking after the show

oo I'm glad you had fun Jess. I really want to see Haven. Wow Karmine sounds great, I remember seeing her on Tony Danza singing. I know you just got home..but do you have the picture?
I know I'm in the minority, but I don't really like Karmine's Mimi. Jess, I'd love to see pics too if you feel like sharing .
Glad that you had a good time, BG. Just curious, do you go to NYU?
I'm being lazy, but does anyone have a link to the podcast? And who's on it and what do they talk about this week.
I don't have the link, but it's with two original rentheads who basically discuss their experiences with RENT ten years ago and what not.
Yep guitargeek, I go to NYU.
I uploaded the pic to my fan photos, for those of you who wanted to see it.
Ah, that makes sense. Anything particularly interesting?
ETA: in the podcast, of course. I'm sure BG's pictures are always interesting!
