Yeah, Hitler and the Nazis started coming to power around 1932/1933. I don't think the exact date matters, most of the 30s and 40s were awful in Germany.
The Ringing in My Ear is one of my favorite songs from Civilian... I'd like to choreograph a number to it for my dance company, but I highly doubt the director will appove the song.
Returning to shallow fangirldom for a second to talk about how much I ADORE The Ringing in My Ear. And, he's just GOT to *growl* "seeeeeeeeex" at the end. Had to kill me, Adam.

I nearly started crying in Driver's Ed tonight while listening to the end of Cabaret.
*sobs*
You were listening to it *in* Driver's Ed?
And go post on my CABARET love thread. It's nice.
Yeah, it kills me too. Though I think of it as being said teasingly rather than growlingly. By the way, I think the Money song is also my favorite of his numbers in Cabaret, maybe because it's the one in which he's cockiest. (True confession time) I like it when he's cocky.
I have to confess, Caberat has always been a show/movie that I have had a truly hard time sitting though. It strikes a huge emotional chord in me and I have yet to watch the film version all the way though.
As for Ringing in My Ear, I really find it puzzling that that is the title when he doesn't even make a reference to it until towards the end.
But G-D, the confusion is so worth it just to hear him say "sex" like that
*dazes into space*
I love when he does that line live. He gets to that lowest register on his voice, and drags it out really long, eyes wandering through the audience. He knows what he's doing. It's that sexy growl.
I like when he's cocky, too. On anyone else, I'd be like "bah. Jerk," but I like almost anything he does, because I'm an idiot like that.
I Don't Care Much was still my favorite... on Adam, and on anyone. It's so beautiful, and that's when Adam sounded most like himself.
"Well yesterday i just felt like ranting on what girls should be able to do. Sorry for the inconvenience. "
Devil: Accepted. And you're right, it was just a rant. And while I do think it's very unfortunate that those are the kinds of things you think "all girls" should be able to do, obviously shallow statements like that was not worth my taking it so seriously.
Emcee - a year already? *sigh* I listened to it on the plane this morning, although I forgot that it closed a year ago .
Chloe - you got an avatar!
*edit: and if you like the lower register, you should hear some of his old Mute/APB stuff.

Isn't that weird? I find myself wondering where the time went.... in general terms, not even just theatrical ones anymore. Like I said before, I feel like I was watching Adam shake it in those suspenders just yesterday.
Hi amasis - yeah, I finally succeeded in uploading a picture. It's very early Elton John.
Where can one find any of that early stuff? I'm curious about it.
eBay, on rare occasion. Or one of your friendly fellow BWW'ers who has it.

Hello, my lovelies! I saw Phantom of the Opera tonight. I really liked in, and it definitely had me in tears by the end! I'm SOOO tired, so I'm going to bed, but I's glad to be back at school with my computer *hugs moniter*!
YAY PHANTOM! Totally unrelated, but that SO deserves a yay.
I'm glad you and your computer have been reunited. I'm going to bed too, so goodnight all.
'night!
And thank you for putting my brain to work tonight.

Before I go to bed, I just thought I'd share this interesting tidbit of info: in a fairly recent (a year ago maybe?) regional production of Cabaret where I live, the Emcee was played by a female.
I'll leave you to ponder that.
'night everyone!
I heard about that production, and I didn't know what to think. I'm twisted, so I love my Emcee as is, but in the sense of portraying the essence of what the character is meant to be and his/her purpose, I suppose it would work.
'night ballerina!
Bump.... this was way to far down on the page..
Any one here yet?
'morning.
Getting psyched up for Adam's TV gig 24 hours from now. YAY!
woo hoo!! yay for adam!!
Em~ do me a favor... take away my laptop and forbid me to do anymore rewrites.. **headdesk** **hates being a perfectionist**
Stop re-writing!!!
**is trying** gah.. I'm so horrible.. but part of the scene wasn't sitting right with me so I HAD to rework it.. Then I tweaked a little more of the scene to make it flow more.. it's basically the same yet very different..
**headdesk****headdesk****headdesk****headdesk**
Please make me stop!
GOOD MORNING!
Emcee-Great synopsis back there. Wonderfully accurate!
YAY FOR SNOW DAYS!
Thank you, jacob I re-read it last night, too.... and remembered how much fun I had writing that, and how much I miss the show. Ah, c'est la vie. It had a nice life. Today marks four months since we lost AIDA, though. I can't believe it's really been that long already, since for three months I didn't have to go more than five weeks without seeing it. Miss you....
YAY SNOW DAYS! I mean, I was off from school anyway, but this is the first time I've seen real snow yet this Winter.
Cam, don't get hurt.
I was just turning the tv on(as the view was ending) and they said that "Adam Pascal will be on tomorrow performing his newest hit"
