Norbert Leo Butz quotes about John Lithgow: "He's really clumsy. One of the joys in life is to watch a great big huge man totally wipe out backstage. It takes John about three minutes to hit the floor. It's like watching a Great Sequoia falling gracelessly."

We talked more about our futures today.. I don't understand how we're supposed to pick classes for next year that will help us with what we want to do, if those classes are supposed to help us decide what we want to do.

It's all so confusing.

I'm in a down mood.. grr...

People who are in college besides Kerrie- what are you majoring in? Or if it's Musical Theater, what's your backup?

Mary- if it makes you feel any better, I have to choose my classes for next year already too. By Thursday. I've been putting it off because I'm really worried about making a wrong choice. There's so much pressure and I hate it!

IMary, I'm majoring in English with (I think) a minor in Theatre Arts. I hope to do my masters in Stage Management and then be on Broadway (well, backstage on Broadway).

I'm not. I'm too ugly for avatars.

Or too pretty.

You decide.

Grr, I need some help with even just slight ideas of what I might want to go into.

I love theater, but I don't take dance, and am only a semi good singer. I am a generally smart kid, I get all A's, but none of the subjects at school interest me. Wherever I end up going to college, I want it to be somewhere near NYC (for obvious reasons) :). My mechanical skills suck, and I don't like the medical field. I thought I'd like to be a voice teacher, but I can't play piano at all.

Any suggestions at all, or new things to consider? I know I have a while to figure out what I like, but I'm wary of getting into theater and then discovering that I'm never going to get a job because of a lack of talent.

Oh, and how many years of a foreign language do most schools require? (This determines whether I can take both chorus and band or not).

Thanks for listening to me ramble on and go crazy.

Aww, honey, you're only 13. Please don't think about this stuff now. You have sooooo much time. All I can tell you is that if you really love theater, just start taking lessons.

It'll all come together as you get closer to college. Just give it time.

And god's sake please stop talking about it and go be 13! lol
