No soup for you!
Awww, I just realized you don't watch Seinfeld...
Well, you BETTER know who the soup Nazi is!
Of course, of course. I don't live under a rock.
A rock of insanity...
Um...BAM!
Kerrie: I did. I wasn't very impressed. BTW What's the first thing you are doing when you get back? GFU hangout!
Blue: George was alot better last night than during his run. Ben is excellent in the role but he does play the Wizard a bit too nice. Sorry you aren't seeing him
Who knows what I'm doing first. Classes start the day after I get back.
Kerrie, I know you love Charity, so it's always nice to see ppl admitting faults w/ shows they love, but yes that choreography IMO was awful! I've seen Hey Big Spender performed in a huge number in another thing, and it was so great, I was so excited to see it--but, I dunno, they just seemed to move around way too much, they should have been making slower, tinier movements, which would come across as sexier. Very disappointed in that song especially. Ehh, the choreography for Wicked isn't that bad--it could be better, but considering it's not a huge dancing show, it's forgivable.
Haha, I never watched Seinfield either but I actually watched/love the Soup Nazi episode!
Cat, aww I didn't love Hearn as the wizard. though I never saw Vereen like I was supposed to, I won lotto the week he switched w/ the Chicago wizard, who was good, better than Hearn I think. I mean I liked him, of course I adore Joel Grey but I still say no one was better than Sean McCourt, I would love to see him go on again.
Wow Kerrie, almost time, so weird for me to adjust between okay what who's home now, who's in the city now, eww I hafta go back soon, etc. My psych paper that's been so intereting I'm dreading writing just b/c I've been slacking off lately. someone motivate me.
*Hopes for Wizard understudy*
*hopes with Cat* Sean still is the first wizard understudy, correct? If you do see him, you'll see by far he's the best.
Well...I've "seen" him
Sean alternates with Anthony Glade it seems. They both are quite good.
Amanda, one thing. While it is true that Wicked isn't a big dancing show, the few parts where there is dancing are very mediocre. Plus the transiton bwtn the classroom and lion club scene remains the worst scene in the whole play. Everyone just moves so haphazardly (I know its in the script but its just an awful scene). I guess DRS has spoiled us all!
hey, watching "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter." Episode was the one right after John Ritter died. and it is where they are trying to deal with the death of his character, 'Paul.' And I bawled my eyes out. So sad.
oh, and my dog is asleep again, and dreaming of something weird.
Ryan, DRS has spoiled us. I really miss it in PA.
Unless you wanna change the order of songs, I never had a problem with the transition. "Popular" is such a big song, it's pretty difficult to make it go seemingly into another scene, and just the way Elphaba is "tossing" her hair, going back to "Popular," I felt it's appropriate, or do you mean everyone else just coming on?
Where is there real dancing except in Dancing Through Life? Both shows require very different kinds of choreography, DRS being a semi-throwback to old theatre, it's very appropriate to have so much great dancing through all the ensemble numbers, and The More We Dance taking place in a club and stuff, it's great to show off the dancers, plus the rest of the show calling for more dancing, you'd think DRS would have more talented dancers in the ensemble than Wicked, which prob limits the amount of really complicated stuff they could do during Dancing Through Life. I mean, I guess it could be slightly improved, but I don't think it's that glaring, and everything else the ensemble does serves the story and it's just no so appropriate to have so much dancing. I mean if you start going into comparing the choreography of shows that have a different level of dance, then DRS' choreography can't compare to Jerry's choreography in La Cage, I mean that was amazing...but why would I compare them b/c the shows require different levels of choreography?
Amanda, I am referring to the scene where Elphaba gets mad when the new professor is torturing the lion cub and everyone besides she and Fiyero start dancing around all crazy. Then they all go crazy as the two run off with the club. Its a very poor transitional sequence. Everywhere else is fine though. But my main point is Jerry Mitchell is very creative and talented while Wayne Cilato has been mediocre in two projects I have seen. Has Wayne done any worthwhile choreography wise lately?
Oh well I'll certainly agree Jerry is a better choreographer, one of the best of the current era IMO. My point was just I don't think Jerry would been an appropriate choreographer for Wicked, given the fact that a great deal wasn't needed, which is why I won't overly critique Wayne's choreography there, but it was awful in Charity where it was very much needed. Hmm, that transition doesn't strike me or great as awful...what would you have preferred them do?

Jerry Mitchell...Wayne Cilento....hmmmm
Good question. Hmm...I can't really say. The whole scene just needs some work. But anyway, agree fully that Jerry Mitchell is uber talented.
YAY! HAPPY BDAY, NORBERT!
ryan-i thought jerry DID win a tony for best choreography-just not for DRS! (but, i WILL admit, la cage DEFINATELY, HANDS DOWN, had much more breath taking choreography. especially considering that they were all guys! haha)

Oh my, Jamie you are right! I completely forgot. I am dumb today.
Haha BSo. Yeah, that's like I said, the chor. for DRS was great but does not compare w/ the amazing things that happened in La Cage, it's just different shows need different things. Can anyone imagine Bob Fosse choreographing Les Miz? That being said, Charity did require good choreography and it was awful, but still I won't compare his work in the two, as they just called for diff. things.
Damn, all this dance talk is making me really excited for Chorus Line.
And I will take this moment to say Jerome Robbins IMO was the greatest, most influential choreographer ever, say what you want about he was as a person...ick, and West Side has IMO the best choreography of any show EVER. (because you know I never miss an oppertunity to reiterate the amazingness of WSS)
ryan-*do not* even talk to me about being dumb today.
because...you did NOT wake up, get ready for school, go down the stairs to walk out the front door and catch the bus, and have your mom yell, "JAMIE! IT'S 4AM!"
for those of you who didn't get it, i leave for school at 7. i have no idea WHY my body woke me up at 3:30 AM, and i guess i was just in too much of a rush to get to school on time to even notice i was 3 hours too early.
i've been VERY insomnic lately. and, today was just a prime example of how lack of sleep ruins biological clocks. and the crazier thing? i felt completely awake, even though i had only had 3 hours of sleep. (i went to bed at 1:15ish, immediately after spending 3 hours, studying for a pre-calc test!)
gaaah. i need to recharge, or something. maybe listening to some drs will help, haha
