I think he looks fine at his current weight, although really, he could use some teeth whitening.
"A chunker"? Hee, skittles.
Anyway, I haven't said so here yet, but I'm so happy for Raul about the nomination. And his response was, as always, very eloquent and made me smile.

I remember him in Cabaret...he was pretty skinny (well, he had to be really, he was playing a crack smoking man whore! [that's just my endearment for the Emcee. ])
But I do notice the weight change a little in those pictures.
I'm not that concerned though, because no matter what he's still a gorgeous guy. That's not meant to sound shallow, I just think he's quite handsome. Chunky or not, I love me some Raul. :)
Also, that Homecoming picture is so adorable. As is Raul's response to the nomination. I'm a bit surprised he was nominated, though, but the two of them did very well so the recognition is deserved.

"Yes, the brutalities of progress are called revolutions. When they are over, men recognize that the human race has been harshly treated but it has moved forward." - Les Miserables
Absolutely, he's one of those people who holds on to their looks as they age. Though, the intelligence and great personality have a lot to do with it.
Definitely. that's mainly the reason why he's my biggest inspiration - he is incredibly intelligent and insightful not to mention is one of the most loveliest people I've ever met.
It's hard to explain this without sounding like a dork, but basically Raul is the reason why I'm still pursuing theater. Had I not met him, not talked to him, there is a great possibility that I wouldn't be in school at the moment working towards a degree in Theater Arts. He's so personable and kind, and extraordinarily talented that it rubs off ... and it comes across whenever he speaks about a project or a role.

For me, one of the things I admire most about him aside from his talent is how passionate he is about the theater, as a form of artistic expression -- as something you can, and often do, fully, completely love. That's a sentiment very close to my heart, and it's always gratifying to see it reflected in someone who's work you really respect.
Yeah, exactly. I mean, it's an industry with a lot of ego, and he's certainly not without his share, but it doesn't entirely consume who he is, which can be a turn-off with a lot of actors.
One of the sweetest things I ever heard him say about his colleagues was his reaction to AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY. He said that his feelings watching the Steppenwolf company must be like those of a parent watching a child perform, he was so overwhelmed by his love and pride for them.
I was TOTALLY thinking of Knut when I made my post. He's not tiny and adorable anymore, though. Well, not tiny. Still pretty adorable.
Also fitting that the top story on Yahoo currently is about polar bears as a threatened species.
Thanks for the info, Tink! I really wish that Stokes would be in another show, as completely, mindblowingly awesome as his concerts are.

Hee, I was totally going to post the link to the Knut video, but got distracted watching it again.
I wish Stokes would be in a show again. It seems Raul is the only person I'm a fan of that is consistently on Broadway these days. There's just a dearth of classic leading man roles in musicals. Now it's all about the pretty boys with pretty voices and nothing below the surface.
