Never having done Broadway doesn't automatically make you less of an actor than the people who have. Often? Yes. But since she's not exactly a "name," it's pretty clear they didn't cast her merely for her fame status.
I'm surprised they didn't cast another huge name for this role, but I'm honestly relieved they didn't. I have more hope for a slightly obscure television actress than I would have for a major star.
Having now read more about Moss' stage experience, I should probably retract the earlier comment. I had thought her debut meant she had only had TV and film experience, but she has done quite a bit of both theater and ballet (?!). So before I engage in any more slander, I will just shut up.

Comic Con 2008 information about 25/8 just confuses me even more. But interesting to think that Wes Craven made Johnny Depp's first movie - news to me.
Well. The blog was totally confusing, you had to read it backwards (from the bottom of the page up) for it to make any sense.
And I second Em's "oh dear" comment. I don't find the plot confusing. Distressing, yes, but we knew it'd have lots of gore. But I think I can see why Raúl was intrigued by the part - he gets to play seven different personalities, one of which is a serial killer. That's a nice bit of stretching the acting chops!
I just wish he was doing it in a movie that was more mainstream and less genre. Oh well.
But interesting to think that Wes Craven made Johnny Depp's first movie - news to me.
You've never seen Nightmare on Elm Street?
It was a stupid, arrogant quote though. He hired young, no-name actors for redshirt roles and a handful went on to be successful. Yes, I'm sure his instruction to Johnny Depp on how to be sucked into the bed was a pivotal moment in leading him towards three Oscar nominations.
But I think I can see why Raúl was intrigued by the part - he gets to play seven different personalities, one of which is a serial killer. That's a nice bit of stretching the acting chops!
According to the "plot summary", he would only play two. Five are benign. And all seven are quickly exported to seven [hot, slutty, horror movie stereotypical] teenagers probably 5-10 minutes into the movie. He probably won't even get enough screentime to use the acting chops he already has.

Interesting. In the latest press release about Speed-The-Plow there's no mention of a closing date as had been stated in earlier press releases. As things stand now, previews start October 3, opening is October 26, and it seems like it'll be open-ended. Speed-The-Plow announces performance schedule
misschung, Wes Craven said with regards to the cast:
"I think you’ll just love ‘em. I made Johnny Depp’s first film and Elisabeth Shue’s first film and Bruce Willis’ first film in Hollywood, so I really hope you enjoy them."
