Well, it's BWW tradition that if something speculative gets deleted, it's probably true and only a matter of time.
It was NBC, but the local NYC 5:00 news.

Posted: 3/20/09 at 7:11amI caught the blip on the news at 11PM. Sue Simmons set it up that "Those who shared the stage remembered Richardson tonight" and it cut to Raul saying that he was in Cabaret, but after she had left, and then some statement about how she will be missed. It was about 10 seconds long.

Raul is really hitting the theatrical social scene since STP closed! He attended the West Side Story opening with Michele:
(another lovely tie!)

Posted: 3/22/09 at 1:39amI still can't get over the Rooms photographs. Leslie and Raul look really cute together. I would love to see them in a show together.

Raúl continues with the social whirl. He attended the staged reading of Legends Monday night at Town Hall:
A t-shirt, a sweatshirt, a tan corduroy sport coat, a topcoat and a scarf? Was it really that cold in New York? (but I love the scarf!)

Posted: 3/25/09 at 3:32pmYes - it has been extraordinarily cold - down into the low twenties Monday night here in the 'burbs.

Ouch, glad I missed that. I escaped to the South for a few days.
I would LOVE to go to that Kander and Ebb benefit (which seems to be this year's The Ladies Who Sing Sondheim?) but it's way out of my unemployed price range.

Did I miss this? The Next 10 Minutes and The Man That Got Away posted on YouTube? I vaguely remember you guys hinting at it but my sleuthing skills were obviously sadly lacking a week ago.

They're hard to find given the way the person who uploaded them wrote the tags. Search Themanthatgotaway (no spaces) and TheNext10minutes (again, no spaces and the number 10 not the word) and you should find them.

Raul continues to be busy, busy, busy. In addition to the Kander and Ebb Cabaret on May 4th, he's also participating in the Atlantic Theatre Gala on April 27th.

Posted: 4/2/09 at 5:01pmOh dear. I wish they'd used a similar picture to the Kander & Ebb release, where, other than the slightly sunburned and slightly oily face, he looks pretty decent. Here he's just...well, not ideal.

Posted: 4/2/09 at 7:40pmNeat that Raul is continuing his association with William H. Macy. Wish I could hit the lottery and afford to go to any of these benefits. And there is Drama League award lunch on May 15.

Posted: 4/2/09 at 11:26pmWell, given that the Atlantic was one of the producers of Speed-the-Plow, Mamet (and Macy) founded the Atlantic, and Neil Pepe, artistic director of the Atlantic, directed Speed-the-Plow, it's hardly simply Raul continuing an association with Macy.

Posted: 4/3/09 at 10:53amI was aware of all that. I didn't think I was writing an essay about the Atlantic - just happy to think about Raul and Macy possibly performing together again.

I would have thought so, it just read a little bit like the assumption was, "Hey, Macy is doing this, me too!!" when there are plenty of other reasons for him to be doing it. If you were just happy to think about them performing together again, you could have just said that.
Also, wtf happened to his name? Heh.

It started going screwy with your post, Em.
Raul doing benefits is a good thing. If he has the time, energy and voice to do benefits, that means he's probably not auditioning and has something lined up already. Besides, unless you do care about the cause, I don't think it's worth it to attend any benefit for one single performer, who sings only one song the whole night.

Whoa! Raúl is moving up on the world - he scored a Stephen King novel! That is going to be one creepy audiobook!
Here's the one-line blurb from Amazon: "In Stephen King's mesmerizing new novel, a Maine town is subject to the imposition of an impenetrable dome that isolates its citizens from the world".
It seems he really does have a predilection of sorts for the horror genre.

Posted: 4/10/09 at 10:34pmObviously I meant to say "moving up IN the world" but I discovered that when you go in to update a post, that's when the accented ú turns into gobbledygook garbage. BWW is so weird.

Oh, joy!
I love Stephen King's books (then again, I'm from Maine, so perhaps I'm biased?) Anyway, can't wait.

Posted: 4/11/09 at 8:33pmI've never been able to finish a Stephen King novel other than THE STAND - the gross graphic details usually get to me before I can get to the last page. Listening to this audiobook should be a very interesting approach/avoidance experience!
