I'm not sure how old this is. One site says it was recorded in 2000, or possibly 1998. Another place says it was released in 2008, and another says 2009.
But I feel it make sense that it was recorded back when Raúl was still working in Chicago. Nothing else seems to fit.
And I can't find any casting list anywhere. I wonder who he plays? Hotspur, perhaps?
The best information that I can put my hands on is that the episode is titled "Lady's Man", it is the eleventh episode of the season, and is (tentatively) scheduled to air Sunday, June 28th, 2009. Still no spoilers, other than what's already been reported.
Yeah, once made affordable, I wouldn't miss it for the world. Cabaret is my favorite show, and Doyle + Kander and Ebb... I just grin at the thought. And the cast, even if Raul wasn't doing it, oh my God.
You mean he played the character as young for 30? That's the point. Jon is freaking out because he feels like 30 is a landmark for when he should have his life together and he doesn't.
And it was 8 years ago, we all looked younger then.

No, I simply meant that he looks so much younger than he does today, than he has in the past couple of years. More than just the six-eight years difference. In spite of the fact that he was a 30-year-old man at that time, and playing a 30-year-old man, he looks like he's about 16. And whatever else you can say about how Raúl looks these days, he does not look like a teenager. The difference between then and now looks like a lot more than 8 years. But he's matured magnificently in that time! (and sorry if that doesn't make sense, my brain is very foggy at the moment. I'm afraid I might be a little short on coherence)
humbugfoto - I couldn't have said it better. That was my point as well. He was about 30 playing someone turning 30 - but he looks in these clips like he could have also played a younger character on his looks. Now he is pretty much settled into the "mid- to late thirties" appearance -
I didn't "discover" Raul until COMPANY so I missed all those lovely earlier incarnations.
What kind of hard-living 16 year olds are you hanging out with that they look like 30 year old Raul? I have a friend who is in his mid-30s and still sent out for(and cast in) teenage roles. I wouldn't have put Raul in that category. He's just aged a lot since then so it's more dramatic in comparison.

Yeah, I think it's more in comparison to now than to how someone "should" look at thirty -- because, exactly. What "should" someone look like at thirty, really, anyway? (Of course, I completely suck at guessing age, but that's not the point.)
And aww, 2001. I was just a tiny little fetus of a fangirl.
This time of year makes me miss Company. Hardcore.

Exactly. That's precisely my point. I'd be willing to bet that at 30 he was still getting carded. At 35, not at all.
Then, too, I've only seen pictures and, er, other material of ttB, so maybe he looked older in person than he did in pictures and in those (admittedly low quality) Today show clips. Still, any way you look at it, it's a pretty dramatic change over a relatively short period of time.
(Oh, I live a couple of blocks from a big LA high school, and some of those kids are downright scary!)
For any potential record, I think he's way better-looking now. He's grown into the really intense features that, IMO, make him so attractive. I think that's part of why he sort of looked like a kid in those clips. There's a certain adorable awkwardness that we often associate with being young.
I've always thought that men look more attractive as they age. And I agree that he is more attractive now than he used to be. The same goes for Michael Cerveris. The man is pushing 50, and to me he looks waaaaaaaay better now than he did in this thirties.
BUT, I think you can also credit that to sucess. Because with it comes a certain amount of financial stability that allows one to pamper themselves more than they might've been able to when they were young and still living from gig to gig.
And that orange sherbert tie makes Raul look *very* Cuban. Love it!
