Sometimes you only get things if you put in EXACTLY what's in the tags. Other times you get stuff that's close. It drives me crazy. I had a video I uploaded not appear in search, even when I put in the precise tags. It was very weird.
On a PC, it's either alt or alt/ctrl + 0250, either on the side keypad on a desktop, or on the little numbers on the letter keys on a laptop. I can't remember exactly what letters it ends up being. Thank you Spanish class.
Weird! I think there's some kind of setting that turns the function on and off, but I can't remember what it is... I don't use PC's very often anymore. You'd have to ask someone who's well-versed in PC.
I copy and paste. If you search on Raul Esparza without the accent, his homepage will pop up in the first few search results, and then you can copy and paste Raúl with the accent...I'm kind of anal about the accenting, lol...
alt 0250 works on my keyboard, and it even works on my laptop keyboard even though it's not supposed to. Computers are so weird.
I looked at the tags for the clip we've been discussing, and put in his name exactly as they spelled it in the tags, and it STILL didn't show up in the search. It wasn't until I put in "rosie" that it finally appeared. SOOO frustrating. Does sort of make you wonder what other little gems might be hiding in plain sight somewhere out there.
I had a Spanish teacher who used to take off points for not using accents ("Father and potato are two entirely different words!"), so it was easier to learn how to type them than have to search every time.
Chrys, does you laptop have the little numbers in the corners of the letter keys, like on the MNLKJOIU keys? If not, then yeah, it won't work, it has to be a laptop keyboard with a number pad function.
I wanted to go to Wall-to-Wall Broadway, as I planned to visit this weekend. Then Ragtime extended. Ah well.

Same here.
Wall-to-Wall is my light at the end of this tunnel of a week.
Wow, that's fascinating! That never would have occurred to me as a reason to know how to do the accent. Of course, when I took Spanish in high school, we were still using stone tablets and chisels.
However, I did get to moon over Señor Escovedo (Esteban) who was from Barcelona (and gorgeous!) and made da*n sure we learned Spanish with the proper Cathtilian accent. If you forgot the lithp you got a pencil thrown at you. Fun times.
I'm doing a Norman marathon on Saturday, but look forward to a full report about the Wall-to-Wall, not only about Raul's performance but everything. Have a great time!
Oh how fun! I'm dying to see The Norman Conquests!
I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, he may not show up. I remember for the Sondheim one him and Marc Kudisch were gonna perform but they got stuck in rehearsals. But either way, it's still gonna be a great concert!

Symphony Space now has a detailed schedule for the whole Wall to Wall event. Raúl is only listed for the big show at 8PM, not for anything earlier in the day. Wasll-to-Wall Broadway
Absolutely selfish comment - I was sorry to see Terence Mann sign up for ADDAMS FAMILY as I was hoping for LEAP OF FAITH to see the light of day in the upcoming season, with him in it. Can't have everything - anyone know if LEAP is out of the question for 2009-2010?
From the Tony nominees meet-and-greet last week, some quotes from Raúl courtesy Michael Musto in the Village Voice:
Meanwhile, Speed-the-Plow's Raúl Esparza agreed with me that his play seemed even more relevant this time around, the AIG collapse and other factors making it super-timely. "There was the 'maverick' line," he said. "People thought David Mamet added that!" Turns out, it was already in there?though I doubt Sarah Palin searches Tony-nominated dramas for her conversational gambits.
Some people also thought Esparza was on drugs to have given such a wonderfully wired performance. "People asked me, 'Did you do a lot of cocaine?' " he related. "No! I'd have a heart attack." But recently, Esparza did play off his own adrenaline to sing "New York, New York" at a gala event because Liza Minnelli had canceled due to an eye problem. Said Esparza, "David Hyde Pierce told me, 'You made it your own. A cross between Liza and Frank.' And at Miscast, I sang 'The Man That Got Away.' I'm going to do the entire Judy-Liza oeuvre!

From you-know-what-site, "Dr. Sue" at the Drama Desk Awards (the nominees press event, I think? Since the award ceremony isn't until this coming Sunday?). Look for Raúl at about 4:15, and he gets a good solid three minutes of her time. Some of her questions are rather, well....basic, but he answers beautifully. Dr. Sue at the Drama Desk Awards
