Sheila E. - The Glamorous Life
Corey Hart - Sunglasses At Night
Tony Carey - A Fine Fine Day (For A Reunion)
Rick Springfield - Bop 'Til You Drop
At some point around '84/'85 I held a tape recorder up to the speakers of my grandmother's stereo and recorded most of the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40. I had that tape for over twenty years before it finally got eaten. I'm trying to remember what all was on there.
I'm not gonna lie....I wish there was an official mp3 of this theme song.
"The music's contagious. Outrageous"
What the hell was this, anyway?

I did most of my growing up in the eighties, and all we did was bitch about how bad the music was...back when Michael Jackson and Prince were "faggy and uncool". Of course, now I can't believe I grew up in such a rich and varied era of popular music. The music was the only thing the eighties had goin' on!
Add:
The entire VALLEY GIRL soundtrack
Don't forget the RAWWWK!
"Round and Round"--Ratt
"Photograph"--Def Leppard
"Talk Dirty To Me"--Poison
"Rock You Like A Hurricane"--Scorpions
"Hot For Teacher"--Van Halen
"Crazy Train"--Ozzy Osbourne
She had such a great voice. I was always surprised she didn't have a bigger career.
Good suggestion Borstalboy. The Valley Girl movie had a great soundtrack!
The late eighties were of course a bit when depressive goth got more vogue what with The Cure, Depressed Mode and the like. Me, I always thought the Sisters of Mercy were the coolest. Not at all like that gutless mainstream Top 40 crap!
Little did I know that all the songs on this record were punched up considerably by the very mainstream Jim Steinman.
My God, it's all coming back to me! See if you can hear the influence..
Theatrical execution, overblown incomprehensible lyrics...yeah, sounds like a Steinman joint
Ever since I started this thread, I have been in a HUGE 80s kick. I am about to watch "Valley Girl" and I am in the final stages of my 80's mix (over 50 songs). If anyone would like the mix (which includes A LOT of the songs mentioned here, plus more), just let me know and I will PM you the link.
Here, please!
Have fun with VALLEY GIRL. Nicolas Cage was only 17 when he made that movie and he is sexy beyond words in it. It's one of the most sexually confident performances I have ever seen an adolescent give.
Oddly, he hasn't been terribly sexy since.
I saw "Valley Girl" years ago and only remember various scenes. It's downloading on iTunes right now and I can't wait to watch it :)
